Computer-Aided Design (CAD): The book is a comprehensive introductory guide to the principles, tools, and techniques of computer-aided drafting. The book familiarizes readers with CAD software and its applications, with particular emphasis on LibreCAD and its role in creating accurate, organized, and professional 2D technical drawings. The book covers essential topics such as CAD interfaces, drawing templates, unit settings, coordinate systems, toolbars, drawing and modification tools, dimensioning, annotation, and plotting. It also explains the practical use of grids, snap functions, object snaps (OSNAP), layers, blocks, hatching, and CAD standards to enhance precision, consistency, and efficiency in technical drawing.
With a structured, step-by-step approach, the book helps readers understand the CAD working environment and develop practical drafting skills. It is designed for students, beginners, engineering and technical education learners, and professionals seeking a strong foundation in computer-aided design. The book serves as a useful learning resource for engineering, architecture, vocational training, and other fields where accurate technical drawings are essential.
Dr. Divya Singh is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science, College of Community Science, G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar. She qualified the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) and was awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in 2011.
Dr. Singh has received several prestigious awards and recognitions for her contributions to research and academics. She was honoured with the Young Scientist Award by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) in 2011 and by the Agricultural Environmental Development Society (AEDS) at an international conference organized in collaboration with Assam University in 2026. She is also the recipient of the Young Women Scientist Achievement Award-2024, conferred by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (USERC) during the 4th Women Scientist Conclave. In addition, she received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Ergonomics and Human Factors, ERGO 2012: Safety for All, and a Short-Term Doctoral Fellowship from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) in 2012. In recognition of her academic and professional excellence, she was conferred the Best Young Faculty Award at the 9th Faculty Branding Awards, organized by EET, CRS, and the Research Wing for Excellence in Professional Education and Industry, Kolkata, in 2021.
Dr. Singh has served as the Principal Investigator of two major externally funded research projects: an ICAR-funded Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) project worth ₹38.50 lakh, focused on reducing occupational drudgery, promoting sericulture-based activities, and empowering tribal communities; and an ICSSR-funded research project worth ₹10 lakh on lifestyle, physiological and psychological costs, and productivity optimization among paramedical hospital employees.
She is a life member of the Agro Environmental Developmental Society (AEDS). Her research interests encompass ergonomics and occupational health, gender studies, women’s empowerment, gender-responsive technology, value addition, interior design and decoration, and consumer behaviour. She has also contributed to research and innovation through four patents related to her research work.
Through her academic, research, and extension activities, Dr. Singh continues to contribute to the advancement of ergonomics, sustainable livelihood opportunities, women’s empowerment, and community development.
