Flowers are greatest gifts of nature forming an integral part of human life and satisfying the basic human aesthetic desire. Greenhouse cultivation is an agrosystem that presents important productive advantages in comparison with unprotected or open field cultivation. Likewise, commercial floriculture plays an important role both in modern and traditional background of India. Gardening which was only an art and science in the earlier days has now emerged as a huge industry. With the importance and need of gardening in improving and conserving the environment being strongly felt now, the concept of landscaping and gardening is growing rapidly. Ornamental gardening and landscaping has expanded as a multi-faceted industry encompassing activities such as propagation and rearing of ornamental plants, landscaping, production of growing media, production of plants in pots and other accessories, etc., generating huge employment opportunities and simultaneously promoting activities that would improve the environment. In the present work, the authors have endeavored to bring out the information on various characteristics of morphological, taxonomical, economical importance of floriculture and landscaping in glossary format with illustrations and photographs. It is hoped that the treatise will prove useful to the students and researchers in horticulture, landscapists and botanists as it is for the first time that such information has been placed under a single roof.
