Fungi have been known to cause plant diseases in crops and plants of economic importance to humans since time immemorial. Ancient agriculture witnessed these plants’ sufferings but thought it was due to the curse of God on humans. Introduction

They involve delivering specialized information on a specific topic to a relatively small yet knowledgeable audience. As a student, you may present findings from advanced studies, research, or project proposals to peers and teachers. As a professional, you might present technical, business, or scientific data to colleagues, explain policy changes to employees, or deliver papers at conferences and seminars. The need for oral presentations grows as one progresses in their career, making it essential to hone these skills early.

Durian, an exotic fruit, native to Malayasia and Indonesia, is considered to be the ‘King of all fruits’ in South East Asia. The term ‘Durian’ has been derived from the Malay word ‘Duri’ which means thorn. The fruit has a tough, thick, thorny husk that resembles the husk of jackfruit. The notorious odor has given rise to the unflattering terms like “Civet Cat Tree”, and “Civet Fruit” in India and “Stinkvrucht” in Dutch. Durian is delicious, soft and succulent with a distinctive sulphuric smell. It is characterized by the rich, buttery smooth and luscious flesh. The fruit is distinctive for its large size, unique odour and formidable thorn-covered husk. The fruit is a good source of carbohydrates, protein, dietary fiber and energy. Some of the other durian fruit benefits are their high iron content and lack of cholestrol. It is rich in vitamin B, C and E, as well as in amino acids. The jelly is prepared from over ripe fruits which is sour in taste.

Principle

Micropropagation is especially useful for include propagation of high value plants that grow slowly (bulbs, ferns, orchids, palms, etc), new cultivars having limited stock and high market demand (new cultivars produced via conventional breeding or genetic engineering), cultivars that are difficult to root by conventional techniques, and endangered plant species. In addition, virus elimination is possible via culture initiation from meristem explants. Also, micropropagation provides a source of sterile tissues that can be used for other tissue culture protocols, including genetic transformation.

Micropropagation is possible using multiple types of cultures; however, shoot cultures are typically employed, in which case five stages to the micropropagation process are typically recognized as outlined below. Nodal explants of rose are used for culture initiation. Three media, differing in hormone content, is employed and the explants should be evaluated for differences in axillary shoot growth and proliferation.

Introduction

The incidence of diabetes mellitus is increasing all over the world and is becoming a problem of significant importance. Diabetes mellitus is a disease of CHO metabolism and WHO has declared India as the diabetic capital of the world. Globally diabetes affects 246 million people, which is about 6% of the total adult population. It is the fourth leading cause of death by disease and every 10 seconds, a person dies from diabetes related causes in the world.

The growing number of diabetic patients and the current and probable future need for health care constraints will mean that high quality diabetic care will become increasingly difficult to be delivered in the future. This requires identification & implementation of cost effective treatment measures that will improve diabetes care in the long term, decrease the associated morbidity and reduce the high direct and indirect costs of its management. This can be possible by incorporation of cost effective and efficient medicinal plants in the management of diabetes. Toxicity and side effects of modern system of medicine have highlighted the importance and relevance of traditional medicinal plants. India has about 45,000 plant species and several thousands have been claimed to possess medicinal properties. Among Indian traditional medicinal plants several potential anti-diabetic plants and herbs are being used as part of our diet since prehistoric time.

In India, medicinal plants have been used as natural medicine since the days of Vedic glory. Historically, in ‘Atharva-Veda’ (about 200 B.C.) description of medicinal plants was made under a separate chapter ‘Ayurveda’. The medicinal values of plants have been tested by trial and error method for a long time by different workers and opened great opportunities for scientific investigations of herbal medicines for cure of diabetes and its complications.

Medicinal plants used to treat hyperglycemic conditions are of considerable interest for ethno-botanical community as they are recognized to contain valuable medicinal properties in different parts of the plant and a number of plants have shown varying degree of hypoglycemic and anti-hyperglycemic activity. The active principles of many plant species are isolated for direct use as drugs, lead compounds or pharmacological agents. Traditional plant medicines or herbal formulations might offer a natural key to unlock diabetic complications if utilized with care.

Morphological characteristics

It is a glabrous aromatic perennial or biennial herb, 1-2 meter tall. Stem is hollow. Root is thick rhizomatous. Leaves are unipinnate, bipinnate, or tripinnate, large pinna is toothed, ovate or lanceolate.

Floral characteristics

Inflorescence is compound umbel with numerous rays. Flowers are white, yellow or purple in colour, bracteate; florets white or purple. Seeds are small in size and winged. Fruits/seeds are 1.25 cm by 0.6 cm in size.

Distribution

The plant is endangered in status, which is distributed in Western Himalaya from Kashmir to Uttrakhand, in alpine scrub and forest shades between 2700-3700 meters.

Site of incision: Detach the limb from the trunk by cutting various muscles viz; pectoral muscles, serratus ventralis, latissimus dorsi, brachiocephalicus, omotransversarius, trapezius, rhomboideus and long head of triceps.

Fig is one of those fruits which are known to mankind since early ages. Legend maintains that the Fig was the “Autumn Fruit’ as revealed by the Greek Goddess, Demeter, and the tree is still held sacred in most parts of the Mediterranean. Abstract

A field experiment was  carried out in the young orchard of Apricot cv. New Castle using Okra. cv. P-7 as an intercrop  to study the economics of growing intercrop in the newly planted orchards which has practically no output for the first three years. It was concluded that one can not only save the input expenditure of Rs.66,258 (for the maintenance of orchard plants during the first three years), an additional income of Rs. 2,41,858, with a net return of Rs. 1,23,800 can also be generated. There was neither any adverse effect of apricot plant canopy on the yield and performance of okra, nor was there any effect of cultivating okra on the growth and performance of apricot plants.

Say a seed lot having a minimum standard of 90% germination, but the competition in the market offering seed quality 92 or 95 % then to meet the market demand we can process the seed lots using re-milling or re-conditioning techniques. Also sometimes simple techniques like liquid density separation which uses specific density of the seed to separate good seed from inferior quality can be considered.

Footnotes have a pronounced effect on style, general tone and clarity. Every footnote is a disgression from the main stream of thought. It interrupts the reader. If he reads it, his eyes must make an excursion to the bottom of the page; and when he is through, he must find the place where he departed from it. Lengthy footnotes can cause the reader to lose the thread of your message, to miss what you are trying to tell him.
