Introduction 
The transformation of governance through digital means represents one of the most consequential shifts in contemporary public administration. Digital governance or e-governance entails strategically applying information and communication technologies (ICTs) to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of government functions and public service delivery. In India, this digital shift has accelerated over the past two decades, driven by imperatives to modernise the state apparatus, promote inclusive development, and meet the rising expectations of a digitally literate citizenry. A complex interplay of demographic diversity, federal administrative structures, and asymmetries in socio-economic development shapes India’s trajectory toward digital governance. The proliferation of mobile devices, growth in internet penetration, and public investments in digital infrastructure have enabled a gradual shift from paper-based systems to platform-based governance. Concurrently, global paradigms such as open government, digital inclusion, and citizen-centric innovation, captured in international indices like the UN E-Government Development Index and the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index, have influenced national aspirations and strategy formulation. However, these technological and global catalysts can only be transformative when embedded within a coherent legal and policy framework that ensures institutional legitimacy, citizen trust, and systemic accountability. In this regard, digital governance’s legal and policy foundations are critical for establishing enabling conditions for its practical and equitable implementation. As highlighted by Sachdeva (2002), the transition to digital modes of governance requires not only the removal of outdated regulatory provisions but also enacting new laws on digital authentication, electronic records, data protection, cybercrime, and privacy. Additionally, procedural simplification through single-window systems, interoperability standards, and e-payment protocols is essential to reduce administrative friction and promote

Introduction 
Nanotechnology has become a highly influential field in science, showcasing diverse applications and promising trends over the past few years. Nanoscience has been a source of inspiration for material science researchers, encouraging the exploration of innovative methods to synthesise novel structures with significant properties and applications(Kolahalam et al. 2019). Nanoparticles are the core of nanotechnology, with “nano” denoting sizes smaller than a billionth of a hair, specifically below 100 nm (Volath et al. 2008).The focus on small-sized nanoparticles (1–100 nm) has become a global research priority attributable to their remarkable applications in physical, chemical, and biological sciences (Jeevanandam et al., 2018). The term “nanotechnology” was coined by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman in his renowned 1959 lecture titled “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom.”(Boverhof et al., 2015).Feynman proposed the advanceof smaller devices down to the molecular scale, asserting that it was not the laws of nature but rather the lack of appropriate equipment and approaches that limited progress in working at atomic and molecular scales(Clunan et al., 2014). In recent times, nanotechnology has transitioned into a mainstream and crucial innovation. When materials are manipulated at the nanoscale, their properties undergo significant transformations, leading to remarkable applications in physics, space science, chemistry, medicine, energy renewal, healthcare, environmental science, mechanics, electronics, civil engineering, optics, and more [Figure. 1](Mourdikoudis et al., 2018; Joshi et al., 2008; Suresh Kumar et al., 2019); AarthyePandian et al., 2019).

Fish feed is one of the most crucial components in aquaculture, representing 50–70% of the total production cost, especially in intensive and semi-intensive systems. Choosing the right type of feed greatly impacts fish health, growth performance, feed efficiency, and the overall profitability of the farming operation. Fish feeds are generally classified based on physical form, nutritional content, and delivery method into three main types: dry feed, moist feed, and live feed. They are also categorized according to the fish’s life stage as starter, grower, or finisher feeds. Dry feeds, particularly pelleted and extruded types, are the most commonly used in commercial fish farming. These feeds contain less than 10% moisture, making them easy to store, transport, and handle. Assessment is a fundamental component of education because it provides evidence of learning, identifies gaps, and guides instructional improvement. Generative AI is creating new possibilities for making assessment more adaptive, personalized, responsive, and scalable. This chapter examines the transformation of assessment, evaluation, and feedback through generative AI technologies. It explores AI-supported generation of multiple-choice questions, essay prompts, programming tasks, case studies, simulations, rubrics, and other assessment resources. Generative AI can also provide rapid formative feedback, explanations, hints, and personalized learning activities based on individual student performance. These capabilities can reduce repetitive assessment tasks for educators while increasing the variety and flexibility of learning evaluations. The chapter considers applications across school education, higher education, vocational learning, and professional training. At the same time, it addresses concerns surrounding validity, reliability, fairness, transparency, academic integrity, bias, and inappropriate dependence on automated evaluation. Effective implementation therefore requires human oversight, appropriate assessment design, and continuous evaluation of AI-generated outputs. The chapter presents GenAI as both a disruptive force and a powerful enabler of contemporary educational assessment.

Number of individuals in a population increase under favourable environmental conditions. Sudden or violent changes in the environment or in the biological characteristics of the individual could lead to decline. Fluctuation in the population is usually because of the effect of a combination of several factors responsible for their survival, growth and reproduction. It is necessary to understand the cause of such fluctuations for better scientific management of the population as well as the habitat (Acharya, 2000). In most of the studies, community has largely been expressed in terms of species richness, abundance, density and diversity. All these have been used as indicators of habitat quality, because an increase in the value of the component is generally thought to reflect larger amounts of the necessary resources to sustain larger population within a given area. Moreover, it is believed that if the factors determining the distribution of the animals are known, predictions can be made concerning the responses of animals to specific perturbations and hence, such animals can be used to monitor environment quality (Gokula, 1998).

Abstract

Fermentation technology holds immense promise in diverse fields. It offers opportunities for sustainable biofuel production, allowing us to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and promote a greener energy sector. In the pharmaceutical industry, fermentation plays a vital role in manufacturing antibiotics, enzymes, vaccines, and therapeutic proteins, paving the way for more efficient and cost-effective production processes. Furthermore, fermentation can be harnessed for waste management and environmental remediation, enabling the transformation of organic waste into valuable biogas. With ongoing advancements, fermentation technology continues to open new avenues for innovation and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future. The present chapter compares types of fermentation process as well as gives an insight into various industrial prospects of fermentation technology.

Clinical decision support systems assist healthcare professionals in diagnosis, treatment planning and patient management. This chapter introduces intelligent clinical decision support systems and explains how computational intelligence overcomes the limitations of conventional rule-based approaches. It examines artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms, swarm intelligence and deep-learning models. A computational architecture integrating clinical data, learning algorithms, fuzzy inference and optimization is presented. Applications in heart-disease diagnosis, diabetes-risk prediction and medical-image analysis illustrate the practical value of these systems. The chapter also addresses interpretability, interoperability, data quality, privacy, legal responsibilities, real-time processing and the challenges involved in deploying intelligent decision-support tools in clinical environments.

Glycosides are compounds containing a carbohydrate and a non carbohydrate residue in the same molecule. They are the complex polysaccharides which are chemically heterogeneous collection of substances, which have in common one property that the molecules are linked together and contain at least one sugar unit. The term glycoside represents a group of compound containing glucose and one or more basic or acidic organic compound in chemical combination. When the sugar other than glucose is present, it is called glycoside. Each sugar is linked through a glycosidic bond to either a non sugar component, aglycones, (aglycone or aglucone is the nonsugar molecule in glycosides).

I always feel I am very lucky and got a chance to live in this beautiful God gifted planet by blessings of God and whatever God fixed for me I am trying my best to do so that I can fulfil my journey and reach to my destine and finally will back to the same place where I came. My father was a Botany Lecturer, he retired from his job in the year 2009 and my Mother is a house wife. I have one brother and two sisters. All are married now and me my misses, my son (Calyx) staying at my native village with my parents after I came back from Indian Agricultural research Institute and my brother and two sisters are staying at Bhubaneswar. I have a very small family staying happily at my village. I have completed my schooling at my village school which is just 1 km away from my home. My village Garh Guatira is belongs to Nimapara block of Puri district of Odissha and it is just 50 km away from Bhubaneswar. My village is very small which is surrounded by agriculture field specially 90% area is under rice cultivation. So I spent my childhood with my natural village climate and maximum time I spent in the village surroundings with its natural activities. I got first class in Botany (Hons) with distinction from the Nimapara college and it was one of the best moments for me, at least one step I moved towards my destination.

ABSTRACT

Decomposition of litter is a dynamic process. It regulates cycling of nutrients in ecosystem. The productivity of an ecosystem depends on the turnover of carbon and other nutrients. Microbes play an important role in releasing of minerals locked up in organic complexes. The release of nutrients, however, is regulated by various climatic factors. The microbial succession at different stages of degradation of litter is controlled by the litter quality and species composition and biological activity. The present paper reviews the status of litter production, decomposition, species diversity and Biological activities as affected by the climatic and edaphic factors in tropical ecosystem.

Digital governance in India has made remarkable strides over the past two decades, transitioning from isolated digitisation projects to an integrated, citizen-centric governance ecosystem. Enabled by policy reforms, technological innovation, and infrastructural development, digital governance has become a cornerstone of the country’s public service delivery, transparency, and accountability. However, the ambitious expansion of digital governance has also encountered systemic and structural challenges that continue to hinder its full realisation. These challenges are not merely technological but are deeply embedded in socio-political, administrative, and economic contexts that define the Indian public administration landscape. While the progress has been notable, the sustainability and inclusiveness of digital governance remain contingent on the country’s ability to address these entrenched constraints. Despite substantial advances, several persistent challenges threaten the transformative potential of digital governance in India. Chief among them is the digital divide across rural-urban, gender, economic, and social lines, which inhibits equitable access to digital services. According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019–21), internet usage in rural areas remains alarmingly low, with only 33% of women and 57% of men reporting regular access. Infrastructural constraints, human resource limitations, weak system interoperability, cyber-security threats, and concerns about data protection and digital rights compound these disparities. The post-2015 period has witnessed transformative initiatives under the Digital India Programme, including the proliferation of platforms such as Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), and MyGov, among others (MeitY, 2022). While these developments have significantly enhanced service accessibility and administrative efficiency, they have simultaneously revealed critical gaps in digital infrastructure, policy coherence, data governance, and institutional capacities. 2.    Why duck should have never access to feed without water?

Ans: Most mashes form a sticky paste when mixed with saliva and adhere to the papillae and other structures bordering the outer margin of the tongue and upper and lower bill. This caking interferes with the movement of the food mass to the tongue resulting in reduction of food intake and increase in feed wastage which occurs when the duck attempts to shake or wash off the mash adhering to its mouthparts.

In India, the total losses of vegetables due to inadequate post-harvest handling, transportation and storage facilities have been estimated at least 25-40%. However, in some vegetables, the post-harvest losses may be as high as 80-100%. Being highly perishable nature of the vegetables, the losses always increase as the produce moves from harvesting to the consumer. Vegetables with a loss of as little as 5% in fresh weight show shrivelled, wilted and staled appearance, which makes the vegetable tissues tough, non-crispy and unpalatable, and eventually, lowers their saleability and consumer acceptability considerably.

Improper harvesting, handling, transportation, storage and distribution of vegetables result in significant post-harvest losses. In such situations, the reduction in post-harvest losses of perishables becomes more essential in countries like India. If these losses are minimised by handling and storing the produce carefully, the following gains can be realised:

The concept of feeding system of different aquatic components of the aquaculture is not simple like that of domestic animals where feed, feeding and the animals can be observed closely and manipulated at once. In case of aquaculture both biotic and abiotic factors play an important role in feeding as well as the growth of the animal. Factors like water temperature, dissolved oxygen, light intensity, etc. regulate the intake of feeding, its digestion and assimilation. Conditioning factor, feed conversion rate, survival rate, percent weight gain, daily weight gain, specific growth rate are some of the parameters used routinely to monitor the effects of feeding on growth performance of the fish.

In aquaculture, supplementary feed is provided in conjunction with the available natural food such as plankton, periphyton, benthic organisms, aquatic plants etc. Aquaculture is a feed-based industry, with artificial feed accounting for major expenditure exceeding 60% of total operational cost. In India, freshwater aquaculture is mainly carp-based, which accounts for about 89% of total aquaculture production (Ayyappan and Jena, 1998). Successful and sustainable aquaculture depends upon the provision of nutritionally adequate, eco-friendly and economically viable artificial feeds. Effective utilization of feed depends upon many factors such as acceptability of the feed, its digestion, assimilation etc. apart from other rearing management protocols.

3.1 Introduction

In developing and in semi-developed countries, rural-urban migration is driven by the uneven distribution of employment, income-opportunities etc. (Skeldon, 1990). Rapid population growth, especially in rural areas, provides an important demographic backdrop to these rural-urban population shifts. Given the growing and well-known difficulties that are faced by the overall Indian population in f inding productive employment, it is important to study the characteristics of labors that migrate from rural-urban areas. Under this backdrop, attempts have been made in this study to examine the nature, pattern and determinants of rural urban migration and the spread of urban informal sector and the likely impact of rural-urban migration on agricultural productivity and efficiency.
