Introduction

Sink float is the simplest and cheapest method among all the wet sorting techniques in which polymers are separated based on their density. This technique is extremely fast, environment friendly and cost effective process for sorting of plastics. Since, the separations are done based on density, so any factor which may change the density of the pure polymer like blending, composite formation of multilayer structures etc. will not be separated well using this method. Moreover, if any two polymers are very close in density, they cannot be separated easily. That is why PVC and PET which are very close in their density can not be separated using sink floatation method.

Initially the plastic waste is added to the container containing water and the system is gently stirred to evenly wet the surface of plastic and remove any air trapped on the surface. Since the density of polyolefins is near/close to each other but lighter than water, they all float in water whereas the heavier plastics sink. This technique is primarily used to separate polyolefins from other plastics. Now to further segregate the polyolefinic fraction, this method is extended by adding the polyolefin mixture to another container containing water and alcohol. As dropwise more and more alcohol are added to the water, the density of the medium will decrease and the polyolefins start separating. For separating the heavier fraction of the polymer, the mixture of polymers is added to water. To this water, dropwise salt water is added and stirred. Salt water increases the density of the medium slowly and at one point, the polymers which were sinking in water, will start floating depending on their density.

Feed Additives
Feed additives are administered to animal to enhance the effectiveness of nutrients and exert their effects in the gut or on the gut walls. Some of the common feed additives are: Antibiotics, Probiotics, Prebiotics, Arsenicals, Buffering compounds, Anti – oxidants, Enzymes, Hormones, Adsorbents, Organic acids, Flavouring agent, Pigments.
(a) Antibiotics: Chemical compounds produced by other microbes (for example, fungi, and are also synthesized in the laboratory) that, when given in small amounts, halt the growth of bacteria. They are used at therapeutic levels to treat diseases caused by bacteria. In sub – therapeutic levels added to the feed or food to enhance the rate of growth. Modes of action: They halt the growth of bacteria by interfering with their cellular metabolism by (i) Interfere with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall and cause the cell to burst, (ii) Inhibitors of protein synthesis, (iii) Inhibitors of bacterial DNA synthesis, (iv) Ionophore antibiotics – interfere with Na – K electrolyte balance, for example: Monensin sodium.
(b) Probiotics: It’s a live microbial food supplement that beneficially affects the host animal by improving the intestinal microbial balance. Beneficial microbes produce enzymes that complement the digestive ability of the host and their presence provides a barrier against invading pathogens [Figure 2].

By definition, minimal processing would encompass any procedure, short of traditional complete preservation procedures (heat sterilization etc.) that adds value to the fruit or vegetables (Floros, 1993). Other terms used to refer minimally processed products are lightly processed, partially processed, fresh processed, fresh cut and prepared. Minimally processed fruits and vegetables are products those have the attributes of ‘fresh-like’ quality. A number of minimally processed products of fruits and vegetables are now being produced like peeled and sliced potatoes, shredded lettuce and cabbage, washed and trimmed spinach, chilled peach, mango, banana, melon and other fruit slices, vegetable snacks such as carrot and celery stick  and cauliflower and broccoli florets, packaged mixed salads, cleaned and diced onion, peeled and cored pineapple, fresh sauces, peeled citrus fruits and microwaveable fresh vegetable trays. Minimal processing of fruits and vegetables has two purposes. First, it is important to keep the product fresh but convenient without losing its nutritional quality. Second, the product should have a shelf life sufficient enough to facilitate distribution within the region of consumption. The microbiological, sensory and nutritional shelf life of minimally processed fruits and vegetables should be at least 4-7 days but preferably even longer (Ahvenainen, 2000).

Carbon dating uses the half-life of Carbon-14 to find the approximate age of an object that is 40,000 years old or younger.

5.1 What is radiocarbon dating ?

Radiocarbon dating is a method of estimating the age of organic material. It was developed right after World War II by Willard F. Libby and coworkers, and it has provided a way to determine the ages of different materials in archeology, geology, geophysics, and other branches of science. Some examples of the types of material that radiocarbon can determine the ages are wood, charcoal, marine and freshwater shell, bone and antler, and peat and organic-bearing sediments. Age determinations can also be obtained from carbonate deposits such as calcite, dissolved carbon dioxide, and carbonates in ocean, lake, and groundwater sources.

Kali Bi is one of the finest remedies for the treatment of sinusitis, in diphtheric croup and in chronic, old cases. The mucous membrane of the nose responds to the administration of Kali Bi in acute as well as chronic cases. The discharge is tough, stringy, green and goes inwards into the throat.

The plants wilt at the time of grain fi lling stage. A light brown water soaked area is seen at the stem base. Sclerotia can be seen on the outer region of stalk when the plants get older. White mycelial growth with large sclerotial bodies is seen over the stem pith. The stem often breaks down at the point of infection.

By 1999 almost 30 million acres worldwide were covered in plastic mulch.

Introduction
Sorting process is the process of separating the mingled and mixed plastic before the recycling process. 

Selective Dissolution Technique (SDP)

Recycling of plastic has become the major focus nowadays. Sorting of plastic materials is the major step towards recycling. One of the sorting techniques is selective dissolution although it has not found major usage in industry for various drawbacks. This technique uses the solubility parameter of different polymers for segregation purpose. Each polymer owing to its chemical structure has different solubility parameters. Hence, the solvents for each and every polymer are different. This difference in solubility in different solvents is used here for separating them from one another.

The entire world is now facing a crisis situation. The problems encountered to address the crisis are interactive with each other and there is no easy way to find solution. The world’s population is expected to increase by 70 per cent by the end of year 2050 and there is need to step up agricultural production for a hunger free world. Nearly 70 per cent of the fresh water is used in agriculture sector. The demand for water in agriculture sector can be judged by the fact that several thousands of litres of water is required to produce one kilogram of food grains. Whatever maybe the source from which water is drawn for agriculture, all the sources depend upon the precipitation for replenishment on continuous basis. The precipitation patterns are not consistent and are known for greater variability from season to season, year to year and from region to region. These inconsistencies are further increasing due to recent threat of climate change triggered by the atmospheric pollution. The atmospheric pollution due to increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is responsible for rise in temperatures. The rise in temperature induced changes in global pressure and wind systems. The consequence effect of it is changes in rainfall patterns, frequent occurrence of extreme weather events like floods, droughts, heat waves, intensified cyclonic activity. Rise in temperatures is increasing evaporation of water and water requirement of crops as well. There is considerable increase of the chemicals in the agriculture sector in the form of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and weedicides how to increase crop production and protection of crops from biotic and abiotic stresses. Consequently, there is increased pollution of water resources which may adversely affect the availability of fresh water, which is essential and critical input in agriculture for increasing agricultural production. It calls for efficient utilization of water resources in agriculture. More concerted efforts are required immediately to:
• Improve water use efficiency in agriculture
• Reduce pollution of water resources
• Conservation of fresh water resources
• Reduce emissions in agriculture sector and
• Prevent dwindling of fresh water resources

Purpose- Burnt porous clay or cement or plastic pots are commonly used for various purposes in horticulture. In pot-culture, operations such as potting, shifting and filling of pots are very important. Theory

The screw conveyor consists of screw blade, screw shaft, coupling, tubular trough, cover, inlet and outlet gates, bearings and drive mechanism.

A shaft with spiral screw revolves in the tubular trough. The screw shaft is supported by end and hanger bearings. The rotation of screw pushes the grain along the trough.

The screw blade or flight is a continuous one-piece helix, shaped from a flat strip of steel welded on to the shaft.

The screw shaft is usually a joint less tube with thick sides and a high tensile strength to reduce the weight.

An inflamed spot is purple and so are the inflamed glands. Ulceration bleeds, blood coagulates and the surface looks purple. There is extreme sensitivity to touch. The throat is purple and not red because the blood under the skin has coagulated. There is nothing like Lachesis if these indications are present.

Apricot is an important fruit grown in the dry temperate and mild-hill regions of India. The fruit belongs to the family Rosaceae and genus Prunus. The original apricots are native to China, whereas wild apricot, which is known as ‘Zardalu’, is indigenous to India. Wild apricots are found at a low altitude of 1500 m and as high as 4000 m a s l. The cold hardy trees are hardier than peach and almond and can tolerate winter temperatures as low as -30ºC. They are drought- tolerant and can be grown in a variety of soils, but deep, fertile and well- drained loamy soil with a pH value of 6.0 to 6.8 is suitable for their growth and development. If the concentration of cells in suspension cell culture has reached to 7X10⁵ cells/ml, it is to be subcultured. Suspension cells are diluted to concentration of approximately 1X10⁵ cells/ml although it varies from cell line to cell line. So, to subculture into a 3 litre glass flask using 500 ml of suspension of cells, there is a need of 5X10⁷ cells. As the concentration of cells is 7X10⁵ cells/ml, there is a need of 71.4 ml of cells. Adherent cells are put in the culture flasks at a concentration of 5X10⁴ cells in a 25 cm² flask. For example, after trypsinization, the cells have been resuspended in 5 ml of medium and cell concentration is 1X10⁵ cells/ml or total number is 5X10⁵ cells. If one wants to put cells into two 25 cm² flasks each containing 5X10⁴ cells in 5 ml volume, there is a need of 1X10⁵ cells, which can be obtained from one ml of cell suspension (1X10⁵ cells/ml).

The word LYCOPODIUM is derived from LUCOS meaning wolf and PES meaning the foot, as the shoots has an appearance of the wolfs foot. CLAVATUM derived from Latin word CLAVATUS meaning club-like.

Lycopodium is adapted more especially to ailments gradually developing functional powers, where the function of the liver is seriously disturbed. Atony. Malnutrition. Mild temperaments of lymphatic constitution, with catarrhal tendencies; older persons, where the skin shows yellowish spots, earthy complexion, uric acid diathesis, etc.; also precocious, weak children. Symptoms characteristically run from right to left, act especially on right side of body, and are worse from 4 to 8 PM.

Lycopodium is most useful in troubles relating to digestion. These troubles arise from the consumption of food, which ferments in the digestive system. That is why Lycopodium relieves a bloated and full abdomen wherein the wind is pressing downwards.
