1. INTRODUCTION

Increasingly, in recent years, we hear of new technologies for the production of clean energy or, as they say now in common usage, from renewable energy sources, there are many sources of renewable energy, but certainly the ones that deserve special attention are those derived from algae. Today, thanks to innovative systems called photobioreactors, you have a way to start producing, though unfortunately still a small part, the amount of clean energy from algae and various biological processes that develop. The photobioreactor is one of the most innovative systems of the 21st century, and is paving the way for a new concept of energy utilization , although the fossil fuel (oil of course) continues to lead the way, even if you are aware of the drastic and continuous decrease the world’s resources. Although still under investigation, but there are many aspects that allow, thanks to special engineering studies , already now create systems suitable for the production of energy directly from algae , while biofuels obtained from the latter, there are several studies and tests , which aim to further lower production costs, in order to bring them at par or even below the threshold of current fossil fuels. In addition, these photo bioreactors, allow to produce, under controlled conditions, products and raw materials from the algae for food and non-food market, often providing a viable substitute, nutritious and natural, to all those raw materials that are harmful to human health and animals, especially in the food and health sectors.

The ‘greenhouse effect’ earns its name from the rough similarity between the way it works and the way the glass of a greenhouse works. Glass too, is transparent to short-wave radiation but opaque to long-wave radiation, so the greenhouse traps heat.
Carbon dioxide plays a critical role in controlling the Earth’s climate because as an aerosol it absorbs and reflects or scatters incoming radiation on the one hand and absorbs and reradiates outgoing infrared radiation on the other. This latter phenomenon results in what is popularly called the Greenhouse Effect, an analogy to what happens in a greenhouse.

The fungi are present everywhere. They are in the soil and soil crust, in atmospheric air, in sea and pond water, rivers and water streams, and on the surfaces of almost all the material ,whether living or otherwise, on affected food stuff , vegetables and food grains, on body of human beings, animals, birds and fishes, on plant surfaces, on leathers and clothes in damp weather, on house walls and ceiling in damp conditions, on railway coaches and buses roofs having water leakage and dampness, in caves, on garbage and decomposing material etc. The fungal spores are present everywhere, however the fungal growth occurs where the congenial conditions for their growth is available.

Although “e-agriculture” and other initiatives to bridge the rural digital divide were already underway around the world, the Community (and the term “e-agriculture”) emerged following the World Summits on the Information Society in 2003 and 2005. The WSIS global participants recognized that when addressing the challenges of the digital divide, particularly in the context of rural livelihoods, problems extend beyond technology. It is a multifaceted problem characterized by ineffective knowledge exchange and information content management, as well as a lack of human resources, institutional capacity, and sensitivity to gender and the diverse needs of various groups. With WSIS participants identifying and naming “e-agriculture” as a key action line to address the Millennium Development Goals, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was tasked with leading the development and subsequent facilitation activities that would truly engage stakeholders at all levels.

Ice cream is a complex multiphase food system in which fat, proteins, sugars, water, air, ice crystals, and stabilizers interact to determine its structure and eating quality. This chapter introduces the scientific principles governing ice cream composition, microstructure, freezing behaviour, and processing. It explains freezing-point depression, ice-crystal formation, colloidal behaviour, foam development, and structural changes during processing. Particular attention is given to the relationship between microscopic structure and sensory properties such as smoothness, creaminess, body, and meltdown. By connecting food chemistry with processing technology, the chapter establishes the scientific foundation required to understand formulation, manufacturing performance, quality control, and product stability.

The term “artificial intelligence” (AI) refers to a wide variety of theories and technologies that are used to the resolution of issues characterized by a high level of logical or algorithmic complexity. It cuts across a wide range of f ields, such as mechanical modeling, software engineering, data science, and statistics. Many artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which first appeared in the 1950s, have lately been refined or extended thanks to advances in computer performance. Recent advancements have been made possible by the creation of interfaces between artificial intelligence and other fields of study, such as biomedicine, and by the collection of enormous amounts of data from a variety of fields, notably those related with the healthcare industry. First, Artificial intelligence helps with situational awareness, which is relevant in animal health and animal husbandry because it allows for the detection of patterns like repeated sequences of observations, forms like a protein, and signals like increased mortality especially in comparison to a baseline at various scales. A third option is computer-based decision making, or more practically, human decision support via knowledge - based systems, diagnostic support, and resource allocation, for instance.

Introduction
As one of the biggest youth demographics worldwide, especially in India Gen Z, represents a distinct consumer segment defined by their digital fluency and progressive values. Their deep integration with technology has reshaped traditional shopping habits, making e-commerce platforms central to their purchasing decisions (Smith, 2020). This generation highly values health and sustainability, pushing e-commerce platforms to address these priorities. This shift is crucial in meeting the evolving behaviours of Gen Z, who emphasize wellness and environmental considerations in their purchasing choices. E-commerce platforms possess powerful tools that influence consumer behaviour, especially with the Gen Z demographic. This generation is well known for its tech-savviness and strong social and environmental consciousness and responds uniquely to online marketing strategies. E-commerce platforms are pivotal in shaping Gen Z’s health and sustainability practices. They achieve this by providing a wide variety of wellness-oriented products and information, which assists in educating and motivating consumers about healthy lifestyle. Additionally, these platforms feature eco-friendly products and promote sustainable practices, aligning the Gen Z’s growing concern for environmental issues. The choice of this topic was inspired by a few things such as health consciousness and sustainable consumption. This interdisciplinary topic combines insights from consumer psychology, digital marketing, and environmental science, offering valuable implications for businesses and policymakers aiming to engage this tech-savvy generation effectively. The focus on this emerging area of research helps fill gaps in existing literature and provides strategic guidance for optimizing digital commerce strategies. Case studies on MyFitnessPal and Nike’s Move to Zero initiative demonstrate how an e-commerce platform can promote health awareness and sustainable consumption among Gen Z. This topic will aid businesses and marketers in customizing their online strategies to align with Gen Z’s emphasis on health and sustainability. It assists policymakers and environmental organizations in formulating improved practices and regulations for responsible consumption. Developers of e-commerce platforms can leverage these insights to design features that align with users’ values. For researchers, it enriches the understanding of consumer behaviour and digital marketing. Finally, it helps consumers to make more informed decisions by demonstrating how e-commerce influences their health and environmental choices.

Stocks from different firms can be traded and listed on the stock market. In addition, the stock market evaluates listed firms based on their worth, effectiveness, profitability, and capability. Anybody can trade shares on the stock market, which is an open global market. GDP is the total amount of profit produced in a country over a given period. To develop products and services in a country to a plausible degree, it is helpful to measure the monetary policy of completed goods and services that are acquired for a single end consumer. It comprises all earnings generated inside a country’s borders. The GDP of any nation may be used to determine the size and state of that nation’s economy. GDP is a measure of a nation’s total production and performance and is used as a gauge of economic health. Strong GDP growth frequently signals more consumer spending, corporate profitability, and company expansion, all of which are positive indicators of optimistic mood in the stock market. On the other hand, a slow GDP growth rate might undermine investor confidence and cause stock values to decline.

Abstract

Beautiful Earth is the only planet of Solar system which supports life due to presence of water, air and favourable temperature. The surface atmosphere is warmed by absorption of solar ray due to green house effect, without which the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere would have been –73^ºC and the ocean would have been frozen. Since the year 1850, when industrialization started in many countries, the concentration of different green house gases in the atmosphere have been increased remarkably (CO₂ – 34%, CH₄ – 145%, Fluorocarbons – 100%). Global warming, the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near surface air and oceans, is caused mainly due to increase in air pollution, green house gas generation and deforestation. Human activities are found more responsible for rapid global warming in last 50 years. Deadly storms, unbearable heat waves, high day-night temperature, Ice sheet melting in polar regions, glaciers receding at alarming rate, frequent wild fires in forest, coastal areas inundation, drinking water shortage and desertification are the serious impacts of global warming. It is a great concern to the Policy Makers to stop human activities responsible for global warming without jeopardizing technological development of society. Global warming has triggered the complex chain reactions : Increase in surface temperature – reduction in the permafrost and tundra areas.

Abstract

The Western Desert covers approximately 700,000 km², which is more than two-thirds of the total area of Egypt. This immense desert, to the west of the Nile, spans the area from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sudanese border. The Great Sand Sea lies within the desert’s plain and extends from Siwa Oasis to Jilf al Kabir plateau. Scarps and deep depressions exist in several parts of the Western Desert. Limited agricultural production, the presence of some natural resources, and permanent settlements are found in the western desert oases (Siwa, Bahariya, Farafra, Dakhla and Kharga), all of which have fresh groundwater. Siwa Oasis, close to the Libyan border, is isolated from the rest of Egypt but has sustained life since ancient times. The Siwa’s cliff-hung Temple of Amun was renowned for its oracles for more than 1,000 years. Herodotus and Alexander the Great visited the temple in the pre-Christian era. The Oasis is a natural depression about 23 meters below sea level. It covers an area of about 1050 km² (2,50,000 acres); of which only 87.95 km² (20,940 acres) are currently cultivated. The total numbers of inhabitants in Siwa were 21,482 in 2006. The main activity in Siwa oasis is agriculture which depends on the groundwater that outflows from about 1199 wells and springs giving a total annual discharge of about 255 million cubic meters from which, about 222 million cubic meters are lost due to evaporation and evapotranspiration, while the remainder goes to the natural lakes of Siwa Oasis. This has led to a continuous rise in the water table level and soil salinity.

ABSTRACT

Industrial and agricultural activities and the disposal of waste products have resulted in the contamination of many terrestrial environments. Industrial effluents often contain considerable amount of potentially toxic compounds such as Cd, As, Pb and Hg. Due to their small size, which provides a large contact area that can interact with the surrounding environment, microorganisms are the first biota showing the impact of toxic compounds. Microorganisms being in intimate contact with the soil environment are considered to be the best indicators of soil pollution. In general, they are very sensitive to low concentrations of contaminants and provide a rapid response to soil perturbation. Rhizobium spp. are ubiquitous gram-negative soil bacteria that have a profound scientific and agronomic significance due to their ability to establish nitrogen-fixing symbiosis with legumes, which is of major importance to the maintenance of soil fertility and to feed livestock and populations in many developing countries. Therefore, the present work aimed to evaluate the impact of heavy metals on Rhizobium populations isolated from different locations contaminated with heavy metals. In order to reach this goal some physicochemical parameters that influence metal bioavailability were determined, as well as their concentrations in soil. Cadmium tolerance of Rhizobium isolates was screened in artificial media and the highest cadmium concentration allowing growth was defined as the maximum resistance level (MRL). The heavy metal tolerance variability found among Rhizobium isolates, suggests that beyond basic metabolic machinery also exist variations that allow isolates to display distinct tolerance responses to Cd stress. To better understand Rhizobium cadmium tolerance, wall-bound and intracellular Cd was determined. Sensitive and moderately tolerant isolates showed low intracellular Cd amounts when compared to extremely tolerant isolates, which were able to withstand intracellular Cd concentrations 40 times higher. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) bind cations unspecifically, so they constitute the initial defence mechanism to heavy metals since they sequestrate cations and therefore prevent their entry into the cell. LPS quantity varied significantly between isolates. LPS increases were observed in most sensitive, moderately tolerant and tolerant isolates, evidencing an attempt of cells to adjust to cadmium entry. These results may be of great importance for understanding how Rhizobium persists in contaminated soils. They also provide important data to the development of bioremediation processes and to the improvement of soil productivity.

It is clear that Odisha has significant potential for aquaculture due to its vast brackish water resources. However, as the aquaculture industry grows, it is important for farmers to be knowledgeable about the inputs and techniques they use to ensure the sustainability of the industry. A total of 2.98 lakh ha of estuaries, 0.081 lakh ha of backwater, 0.80 lakh ha of Chilika Lake, and 0.32 lakh ha of cultivable brackish water area make up the 4.18 lakh ha potential brackish water area for fish and shrimp production. Additionally, proper disease diagnosis and management are crucial for reducing the risk of disease outbreaks and ensuring the health of the aquatic animals being farmed. With appropriate training and support from organisations such as the Aqua One Centre, farmers can improve their practices and increase their yields, while also contributing to the economic growth of the region.

A parasitic must establish an intimate relationship with the host tissues to absorb the desired nutrients. Successful establishment of this relationship is called infection. The chain of events that takes place in the causation of disease is called pathogenesis or infection process. It encompasses the germination or multiplication of an infective propagule in or on a potential host through to the establishment of a parasitic relationship between the pathogen and the host. The process of infection is influenced by properties of the pathogen, the host and the external environment. If any of the stages of the infection process is inhibited by any of these factors, the pathogen will not cause disease in the host. While some parasites colonise the outside of the plant (ectoparasites), pathogens may also enter the host plant by penetration, through a natural opening (like a stomatal pore) or via a wound. Abstract
Ocean acidification, caused by rising atmospheric CO2, is a major environmental issue that threatens marine ecosystems and human livelihoods. This process decreases the pH of seawater, increasing its acidity, through a series of chemical reactions that result in the formation of carbonic acid. These changes negatively impact marine food webs, especially calcifying organisms like corals, molluscs, and plankton, which depend on carbonate ions to build their shells and skeletons. The cascading impacts of acidification jeopardize the biodiversity, productivity, and resilience of marine ecosystems, including fisheries that millions depend on for food and income. Factors such as ocean warming, deforestation, and natural CO2 emissions exacerbate acidification. Mitigation efforts, including reducing CO2 emissions, restoring habitats, and promoting sustainable fishery management, are essential for minimizing future impacts. Addressing and mitigating ocean acidification are critical for conserving marine life, sustaining fisheries, and preserving ecological balance in the face of global climate change.

Changing Dynamics in HM

HM has transformed significantly; a lot because of changes in consumer behaviour, technological advancement, economic developments, regulatory changes, and growing consciousness of sustainability (Samaddar & Mondal, 2024). These changing dynamics have pushed customer’s expectations toward better and more personalized service (Law et al., 2024). Initially, the focus was on basic services and manual processes, but since then, the HM industry has embraced smart technologies like mobile apps, AI, IoT, and big data analytics. These developments have revolutionized the way customers interact; from merely checking in with their mobile phones, and controlling their room settings, to house-keeping and service delivery, thanks to AI-powered customization and automation. Using cloud services for managing properties and improving cyber security helps keep operations smooth and keeps data safe. Efforts to use energy and water more wisely show the industry's move towards being more sustainable. As the HM continues to evolve, industry stakeholders eye towards more personalized, efficient, and sustainable guest experiences. This would reflect the ongoing commitment to excellence and adaptation efforts to strive and evolve in the dynamic global landscape.
