Members of the family Cruciferae commonly used as vegetable include Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts and mustard etc. The genus Brassica is known for its important agricultural and horticultural crops. A dislike for cabbage or broccoli can result from the fact that these plants contain a compound similar to phenylthiocarbamide (PTC), which is bitter or tasteless to some people depending on their ‘taste buds’ (Theresa, 1995). Almost all parts of some species or other have been developed for food, including the root (turnips), stems (kohlrabi), leaves (cabbage), flowers (cauliflower, broccoli), buds (Brussels sprouts, cabbage), and seeds (many, including mustard seed, and oil-producing rapeseed). Some forms with white or purple foliage or flowerheads are also sometimes grown for ornamental purpose.

Introduction 
In recent years, the global demand for sustainable and renewable energy sources has intensified due to the continuous depletion of fossil fuel reserves, rising fuel prices, and environmental concerns. Bioethanol, a renewable fuel derived from the fermentation of plant biomass, is considered a promising alternative to petroleum-based fuels. Among various feedstocks, tuber crops such as cassava, sweet potato, and potato have gained significant attention due to their high starch content and relatively low competition with food supply in certain regions. Bioethanol production is broadly categorized into four generations based on the type of feedstock and technology involved: First-Generation Bioethanol is derived from food crops such as maize, sugarcane, and tuber crops. Despite its wide application, it has been criticized for contributing to rising food prices (Khairati, 2024). Second-Generation Bioethanol is produced from non-food lignocellulosic biomass like agricultural residues, which reduces the food vs. fuel conflict (Sharma et al., 2020). Third- Generation Bioethanol is derived from algal biomass, offering higher yields and lower competition with land use (Brennan & Owende, 2010). Fourth-Generation Bioethanol combines biomass conversion with carbon capture and storage technologies, providing the highest environmental benefits (Yoon et al., 2012). Further the trend in world ethanol production during the year 20020–2025 is given in Figure 1. Tuber crops such as cassava, sweet potato, and potato are promising feedstocks due to their high starch content and lower food competition in certain regions. Recent studies highlight the efficiency of bioethanol production from these crops: Cassava is considered the most efficient tuber crop for bioethanol production due to its high starch yield and low production cost (Jagatee et al., 2015). Sweet Potato studies report ethanol yields of up to 138.6 g/kg under optimized fermentation conditions using co-fermentation techniques (Dash et al., 2017). Industrial potato waste has been successfully utilized for bioethanol production, with pilotscale experiments yielding up to 68.68% ethanol concentration (Sehsah et al., 2015). Bioethanol production from tuber crops presents several environmental and economic benefits. Life Cycle Assessment studies indicate that bioethanol reduces GHG emissions compared to gasoline, particularly in second-generation production systems (Farahani & Asoodar, 2017). Modeling phytonematodes is helpful in the investigation of several host plant interactions and may yield useful information to be exploited in the integration of management strategies and biological control. Modeling the phytonematodes density changes in a soil/root microcosm may allow the identification of main factors active in such systems (Ciancio et?al?, 2022). The multiple tri-trophic interactions linking roots, phytonematodes and antagonists, however, originate a very complex system. It requires knowledge about the many parameters describing the nematode life stages, the interactions with the antagonistic organisms present in the microcosm, as well as their capabilities for effective and durable host regulation. Descriptive variables should also account for the effects of roots and of other environmental factors at work in the tri-trophic interaction system. Models may provide benefits, including the possibility of identifying the best moment for the inoculation of a biocontrol agent, the optimal amount of its inoculum applied to maximize its biocontrol efficacy, as well as the possibility to simulate and thus investigate its behavior once introduced in soil.

1. INTRODUCTION

The past hundred and fifty years of this millennium have witnessed an unbelievable pace of scientific and technological development. Modern science has attempted to a great extent and succeeded in realizing the dreams and fantasies of philosophers and scientists of the previous centuries. Plant genetic engineering via., nucleus is a mature technology that has been used productively for research and commercial applications. However, plants have an unassuming second genome inside the tiny organelles called as plastids. Although this small circular DNA carries a fewer genes than its nuclear counterpart, researchers say its potential for genetic engineering far outstrips its size. The ability to introduce foreign genes at specific locations on a chloroplast has been acquired very recently. It is expected that certain limitations of nuclear genome transformation methods in terms of protein expression and environmental safety can be overcome by site-specific introduction of genes into plastids. Thus the plastid engineering forms a viable alternative serving as another milestone in the field of plant biotechnology.

Definition and Significance

Garden Components are the garden features that form the expressions of garden, adding charm to the basic garden landscape and constitute its style, contributing strongly to its texture and structure. Thus, garden features are important as they provide face lift to the garden skeleton, giving it a filling effect with charismatic appeal. Garden features include garden wall, fencing, arches, pergolas, hedge-edge, topiary, etc. Creating sudden and unexpected change of scenery sometimes reveal good contrasts. Thoughtful planning of garden features make an invaluable contribution to garden design. It is possible to design a garden with a large number of man-made artistic items. However, indiscriminate and haphazard use of these items results in clutter. Further, new and strange features in the garden always attract visitors and give unbounded pleasure. During ancient time, because of the traditional style of architecture and high craftsmanship, garden features and adornments have played a big role in many famous gardens of the world. Selection of features and positioning of ornaments in a garden are the visible evidence of the owner’s taste of nature and aesthetic sense. Whatever features are chosen, they must add charm, create an atmosphere of naturalistic design and improve the quality of landscape design. Garden features and ornaments are many, but they must be utilized in the design with restraints. Some important garden features are described below.

A levee is an elongated embankment constructed along a river, stream, or floodplain boundary to prevent floodwater from entering protected land. Levees can safeguard settlements, agricultural fields, industries, roads, and public infrastructure, but they do not eliminate flooding and may transfer risk downstream or cause severe damage if overtopped or breached. Their design depends on expected flood level, freeboard, soil properties, seepage conditions, foundation stability, alignment, and available construction materials. This chapter explains levee functions, classifications, advantages, limitations, and structural components. It also addresses seepage control, slope protection, erosion, settlement, failure mechanisms, inspection, maintenance, and the importance of combining levees with forecasting and evacuation planning.

Hematology is the science or study of blood, blood-forming organs and blood diseases.

Statistical Inference

It is the process of drawing valid inference or conclusion about the population on the basis of a sample drawn from the population. In other words, Statistical inference is the process of using a sample to infer the properties of a population. It requires studies pertaining to three aspects:

• Point Estimation • Interval Estimation

• Testing of Hypothesis • Point Estimation: It is to find a single value, which is used as an estimator of unknown parameter. For example, sample mean may be used as an estimate of the population mean µ.

• Interval Estimation: It is to find confidence limits based on sample values, within which the unknown parameter lies with confidence coefficient described in probability term. In other words, we estimate an unknown parameter using an interval of values that is likely to contain the true value of that parameter and state how confident we are that this interval indeed captures the true value of the parameter.

• Testing of Hypothesis: The tests used to ascertain whether the differences between estimator and the parameter or between two estimators are real or due to chance are called tests of hypothesis or tests of significance. In other words, the procedures, which enable us to decide whether to accept or reject hypothesis, are called tests of hypothesis or tests of significance. Two types of problems mainly arise in tests of significance:

Genetic Resources

Tomato, a warm season crop, sensitive to frost, is usually cultivated in sub-tropical and mild cold climates. The National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi, is the main centre for maintenance of tomato germplasms in India. The Bureau has systematically assembled more than 2,900 germplasms. Some of the promising germplasms identified for different traits on the basis of their morphological variations (Fig.1; see Plate-1) are given in Table1.

Diagnostic biomarkers are measurable biological molecules that provide information about physiological or pathological conditions. This chapter examines the use of metabolomics for discovering, evaluating, and validating biomarkers for disease diagnosis, prognosis, therapeutic monitoring, and personalized medicine. It discusses different types of biomarkers, metabolomic biomarkers, biological samples, analytical platforms, biomarker-discovery workflows, and statistical analysis. Applications in cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, liver, kidney, neurological, infectious, and metabolic diseases are considered. The chapter also explains the role of metabolomics in drug discovery, toxicology, nutrition, and clinical research. Challenges involving biological variability, analytical reproducibility, data complexity, and clinical validation are addressed alongside future opportunities involving AI and multi-omics.

Modern biological systems cannot be fully understood through a single molecular layer. This chapter examines the integration of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to obtain a comprehensive systems-level understanding of biological processes. It explains the role of each omics discipline and shows how their combined analysis can connect genetic information, gene expression, protein activity, metabolic states, and phenotypic outcomes. The chapter discusses the need for multi-omics integration, computational and network-based analysis, and systems biology workflows. Applications include disease diagnosis, precision medicine, crop improvement, stress tolerance, biotechnology, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and environmental research. Multi-omics integration provides improved biological interpretation, biomarker discovery, pathway prediction, and therapeutic target identification.

Introduction
The nervous system in animals is a complex group of highly specialized cells capable of collecting and transmitting information in response to external stimuli via receptors and highly specialized sensory organs. It aids in the regulation of muscle coordination, the release of hormones, neurotransmitters, and other chemical mediators, all of which facilitate numerous bodily activities.
The nervous system is divided into two systems: the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system. Within these systems, there is another autonomic nervous system (ANS), which is distinguished by higher centers of the hypothalamus, midbrain, pons, and medulla, as well as tracts and nuclei in the spinal cord. The ANS is further divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic
systems, which help maintain homeostasis and activate emergency mechanisms in response to external stimuli. The brain is normally covered by three meninges: piameter, arachnoid, and durameter. These meninges create three spaces: the subarachnoid space (between pia mater and arachnoid), the subdural space (between arachnoid and dura mater), and the epidural space (between dura mater and the ligamentum flavum in the spinal canal). The subarachnoid space includes cerebrospinal fluid, which is isolated from cerebral blood by the morphological and enzymatic activity of cells with tight junctions that regulate intercellular diffusion and solute exchange inside the cells. These cells form a barrier known as the “blood-brain barrier”.
The blood-brain barrier works as a selective permeable membrane, allowing only certain chemicals and medications to pass through while excreting essential components from the central nervous system via energy-dependent efflux pumps like p-glycoprotein. These proteins are encoded by genes such as ABCB1, and mutations in them can result in severe effects such as Ivermectin poisoning in the Colie breed of dogs. Similarly, it aids in the relative isolation of the neurological system from the immune system by establishing an immune-suppressive parenchymal milieu. However, various infections, trauma, and developmental defects can result in underdevelopment or damage to different cerebellar structures. As a result, depending on the portion implicated, it might cause changed behavioral changes in animals such as muscle incoordination, depression, and paralysis. These clinical symptoms may be excitatory.

Trees have been used in cropping systems since the beginning of agriculture. Throughout the world, at one period or another in its history, it has been the practice to cultivate tree species and agricultural crops in intimate combination. In the tropics, human beings underwent a transition from hunting/gathering to the use of domesticated plants and livestock. As a part of the process, they cut down trees, cleared the debris by burning and sowed crops in the ash enriched soil. It was the ‘slash-and-burn’ agriculture, a primary forerunner of the present-day agroforestry and a practice that might have originated in the Neolithic period, around 7000 BC.

There are innumerable examples of traditional land-use practices involving combined production of trees and agricultural species on the same piece of land in many parts of the world. Trees were an integral part of these farming systems and they were deliberately retained on farmlands to support agriculture. These practices are now known as agroforestry. However, the ultimate objective of these practices was not tree production but food production.

Factors which influence the colonization and life cycle of VAM fungi have important bearing on the extent to which they may benefit their host. As we move closer to using mycorrhizal fungi to increase growth and productivity of different plant communities, a thorough understanding of the factors which influence their survival, germination, root colonization an d sporulation will be critical. Seasons, physico-chemical characters of the soil, agronomic practices, plant protection chemicals, pollutants and genotypic characters of the host may affect VAM fungi and their potentiality to colonize and provide benefit to the host. In view of this, the effect of such factors on the VA mycorrhizal symbiosis and its benefit to diverse plant communities has been extensively investigated worldover.
