Introduction

Food adulteration compromises quality of foods and causes human health hazards is a menace mankind had been facing since ages. Spice adulteration scandals in the year 2004, Horse gate scandal in Europe during 2013 are famous examples of food fraud. Various forms of food adulteration and cheating such as substitution of cheaper food components in place of original product, addition of non-permitted substances, and false claims by misbranding or mislabeling are prevalent from time immemorial (Spink et al 2019).

Abstract
Combined advancement in computer sciences and hardware with uniformly significant developments in molecular biology and chemistry are providing toxicology with a powerful new tool box. This tool box of computational models promises to increase the efficiency and the effectiveness by which the hazards and risks of environmental chemicals are determined. Computational toxicology focuses on applying these tools across many scales, including vastly increasing the numbers of chemicals and the types of biological interactions that can be evaluated. Apart from that, knowledge of toxicity pathways gathered within the tool box will be directly applicable to the study of the biological responses across a range of dose levels, including those more likely to be representative of exposures to the human population.  Although inappropriate pharmacokinetic properties are a major cause of abrasion in the safety issues are recognized as today’s single largest cause of drug candidate failure. It is expected that the right balance of in vivo, in vitro and computational toxicology predictions applied as early as possible in the discovery process will help to reduce the number of safety issues.

‘Integument’, the outer layer of insects consists of the ‘basement membrane’, ‘epidermis’ and the ‘cuticle’. One of the most important characteristics of insects is the presence of the rather hard, flexible chitinous exoskeleton or cuticle, which covers the entire body and provides support to the body. The exoskeleton of insects that is akin to the internal skeleton of vertebrates accounts for their size and shape. Movement is made possible by the division of the cuticle into separate plates or sclerites.  Primarily these  sclerites  are confined to segments and the sclerite of one segment is connected to the sclerite of the adjoining segment by means of an articulate called ‘suture’, a region in which the cuticle is very thin and flexible. The cuticle of each segment is divided into four primary sclerites viz., a dorsal tergum, two lateral pleura and a ventral sternum. The dermal glands present in the epidermal layer secrete the entire cuticle of the insect.

Like that of the body, the cuticular skeleton of the appendages is divided into tube-like segments connected to one another by articular membranes, thus creating a joint at each junction. Such joints enable the segments of the appendages, as well as those of the body to move freely.

In addition to the exoskeleton, an endoskeleton is also developed. This may be an infolding of the procuticle that produces inner projections or ‘apodemes’ equal to bones in vertebrates on which the muscles are inserted.

Introduction
Plantation crops are high-value industrial crops grown in the tropics and coastal areas. They have great potential for utilization of wasteland like rainfed dry land, hilly, arid, and coastal areas to provide nutritional security; earn foreign exchange, and ensure livelihood security. The major plantation crops grown in India are tea (Camellia sinensis L), coffee (Coffea arabica L.), rubber (Havea brasiliensis), coconut (Cocos nucifera), areca nut (Areca catechu L.), oil palm (Elaeis guinensis), cashew nut (Anacardium occidentale L.) and cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.). India is the leading producer of most of
these plantation crops. Among all fruit crops, processing plays an important role in plantation crops as they are generally consumed only after processing. In addition to primary products, some by-products from these crops also have various commercial uses. Coconut, areca nut, cashew nut, black pepper, and cardamom are known as smallholder plantations whereas, crops like rubber, tea, and coffee are known as estate crops or conventional plantation crops. Agroforestry is a land use system that involves two or more plant species at least one of which must be a woody perennial. When perennial woody and herbaceous components are grown together on the same piece of land their performance would largely depend on their ability to share various growth resources in a given environmental situation. Due to difference in growth pattern and resource requirement of the components in agroforestry situation, a close interactive relation is obvious. Thus, careful management practices for the components are required to establish a successful agroforestry system. The characteristics of the trees and crops, and their interactions, can be modified with good management practices in order to take advantage of the positive characteristics and minimize the effects of the negative ones. Effective and efficient agroforestry management may be divided into two groups; tree management and agricultural crop management.

Defining GLP: Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) are a comprehensive set of quality system principles designed to ensure the reliability, reproducibility, and integrity of non-clinical health and environmental safety studies. These principles establish a framework for planning, performing, monitoring, recording, reporting, and archiving studies. Adherence to GLP is crucial for generating data that can be trusted and utilized for regulatory submissions and scientific advancements.
Purpose of GLP
• To ensure the quality and integrity of non-clinical and clinical laboratory studies.
• To provide assurance that data submitted to regulatory authorities is truly reliable.
• To standardize procedures and practices in non-clinical and clinical studies.
Scope of GLP
• Primarily applies to non-clinical health and environmental safety studies.
• These studies often support applications for research or marketing permits for regulated products (e.g., pharmaceuticals, pesticides, food additives).
Key Elements of GLP
• Organizational structure and personnel responsibilities.
• Standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Flood estimation determines the probable magnitude and frequency of flood events for designing hydraulic structures and managing flood risk. Intense rainfall over a catchment generates excess water after interception, infiltration, evaporation, and depression storage have been satisfied. This runoff reaches the drainage system and may cause flooding when channel capacity is inadequate. Reliable estimates help engineers select suitable dimensions for dams, spillways, bridges, culverts, reservoirs, and other protective works. This chapter describes rainfall-based and streamflow-based estimation techniques, including the Rational and Cook’s methods, unit-hydrograph procedures, frequency distributions, Gumbel, log-normal and Log-Pearson Type III analyses, empirical formulae, flow-mass curves, and partial-duration series.

Goat husbandry has been practiced for thousands of years, since the first domestication of goats. Goat rearing for long mainly consisted of “zero input” concept, which suits well under extensive system of management. Major goat management systems in vogue are nomadic (transhumant)/extensive, semi-intensive and intensive, which have evolved on age-old experience and convenience of resource poor farmers under diverse agro-climatic and agro-ecological conditions.

Nomadic/Transhumant/Migratory/Extensive System

Extensive grazing lands cover vast areas of temperate Asia, and are important both environmentally and as a source of livelihood for goat and sheep herders.This practice is strengthened by migratory, free range, pasture cum range grazing options. The goats are compelled to often graze over long distances in search of feed and water. Under nomdic (transhumant) system, both grasslands and browse are important vegetation type. Land tenure problems, or lack of clarity in grazing rights are some of the emerging challenges for the goat herders under nomadic system. Many a times, the conflict of interests between settled farmers and herders is increasing with rising population pressure and intensification of agriculture. Poor pasture condition is one of the major constraint for the goat herders under nomadic system. Some of the measures suggested to improve the situation include better grazing management, reseeding with high-yielding species, and herder training.

Goat and sheep are two species which have been traditionally managed extensively. Mixed flocks of sheep and goats are common, although separate flocks of either species can also be seen. Extensively managed animals have considerably more behavioural freedom compared to intensively managed animals that are always more confined. Goat has an advantage over other species of livestock in that they can live and produce on land unfavourable for other forms of agriculture. Goat has the ability to forage and survive in areas, where cattle and buffaloes would perform poorly. Goat can revert to wild conditions if given the opportunity whereas sheep donot.

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence which is concerned with the development of algorithms and techniques that allow computers to learn. These techniques are tolerant of imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation. There have emerged many methods based on machine learning techniques, such as Artificial Neural Networks (NNs), Support Vector Machines (SVMs), Decision Tree (DT), Bayesian Networks (BNs), Hidden Markov Models (HMMs), etc. These techniques attempt to study, model, and analyze very complex phenomena  for which more conventional methods have not yielded low cost, analytic, and complete solutions.

Bioinformatics is the application of information technology to the area of molecular biology. The increase in the number and complexity of biological databases has raised the need for powerful data analysis tools and techniques. To fulfill these requirements, the machine learning discipline has become an everyday tool in bio-laboratories (Inza et al., 2010). Machine learning techniques have been successful in analyzing biological data because of their capabilities in handling randomness and uncertainty of data noise and in approximation.

Analysis Stage: During the analysis stage, the organization thoroughly examines its internal and external environments. The internal analysis assesses the organization's strengths and weaknesses, while the external analysis explores the opportunities and threats present in the market.

Formulation Stage: The formulation stage involves developing strategies to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. This stage involves selecting the most appropriate strategy based on the results of the analysis.

Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) known as Khajoor, Kharek is an important fruit tree of semi-arid and arid regions of the world. It grows well under poor desertic soils due to its hardy plant characteristics and deep root system.  It is also one of the most suitable fruit plant, which can be easily grown under saline irrigation conditions. It is well known fact for date palm that its feet in the water and its head in sun. It requires dry hot climate for growth and development of fruits. In arid region, crop production is risky preposition, where date palm cultivation contributes in achieving food security, high nutritive value food, crop diversification, desertification control, income generation and foreign exchange earnings. It can be grown at such areas where adequate irrigation facilities are available besides other climatic requirements (Chandra et al., 1992; Sharma and Singh, 2013).

Trees have been used in cropping systems since the beginning of agriculture. Throughout the world, at one period or another in its history, it has been the practice to cultivate tree species and agricultural crops in intimate combination. In the tropics, human beings underwent a transition from hunting/gathering to the use of domesticated plants and livestock. As a part of the process, they cut down trees, cleared the debris by burning and sowed crops in the ashenriched soil. It was the ‘slash-and-burn’ agriculture, a primary forerunner of the present-day agroforestry and a practice that might have originated in the Neolithic period, around 7000 BC. There are innumerable examples of traditional land-use practices involving combined production of trees and agricultural species on the same piece of land in many parts of the world. Trees were an integral part of these farming systems and they were deliberately retained on farmlands to support agriculture. These practices are now known as agroforestry. However, the ultimate objective of these practices was not tree production but food production.

Development of improved crop varieties is vital for sustained increase in agriculture production and productivity. Timely supply of quality seed is equally significant since the contribution of quality seed alone is estimated to be 15-20 per cent to total crop production. Seed quality attains more significance in view of emerging biotic and abiotic stresses, issues related to quality and phytosanitary measures, competition in domestic and international markets and emerging food needs. Measures of seed legislation with respect to quantity and quality were initiated in the country by establishment of National Seed Corporation during 1963 under Ministry of Agriculture. The seed sector in India during the period was dominated by the Public sector. The National Seed Corporation was the Central Body to produce seeds of superior dwarf varieties in rice, wheat, and superior hybrids in maize, pearl millet and sorghum. This was followed by various seed legislations enacted by Government of India. Further, AICRP-NSP (Crops), popularly known as National Seed Project was launched during 1979-80. The NSP-Project came into operation in three major phases and continues to produce breeder seed to cater the needs of the Indian farmers. The project resulted in achieving breeder seed production surpassing the indents in all major crops. The seed programme of the country was further strengthened with NSP II (World Bank) Project starting in 1989-90, which not only supported the ICAR and SAUs, but also Department of Agriculture, Seeds Corporations, Seed Certification Agencies and Private Seed Industries to a great extent in production, processing and in providing quality seeds to the country.

Accumulation of nutrient elements in plant tissues indicates the accessibility of the concerned elements from the soil to the plant. Although different plant species and even different varieties of the same species may vary in their nutrient requirements, composition of a part or of the whole plant may well be adopted as a guideline to support the soil-test results for factual assessment of soil’s nutrient supplying power.

Currently, Asia, Africa, and Latin America are seeing significant technical advancements, leading to a substantial movement from rural to urban areas in these countries. Economists research migration because to its impact on the availability of skilled and semi-skilled workers, the growth of industries and commerce, and the resulting changes in the employment patterns of migrants. The formulation of economic policy is closely intertwined with the phenomenon of migration, since migration significantly impacts a country’s economic and social progress. The study of migration is crucial due to its impact on population dynamics, including population size, growth rate, and demographic structure, as determined by birth rate, death rate, and migration. Furthermore, migration significantly influences the geographical spread of the population and the availability of workforce inside the nation. Therefore, the analysis of occupational migration is valuable in developing economic and other governmental policies, as well as informing the work of economists, sociologists, legislators, planners, and demographers

Rain and snow are the two chief sources of water of the earth. In-situ conservation of rainwater helps the plants to meet some of their consumptive uses directly. Not all the amount of rainwater that falls at a point is conserved by the soil reservoir to support the plant growth. Some part of it flows over the soil surface as surface runoff and some seeps down as infiltration and finally adds to the underground reservoir. Therefore, rain or snow, which is not used directly by the plants, becomes a potential source of either surface or ground water for irrigation. In areas with extreme low temperature, snow contributes major source of water supply wherever, in humid and sub humid regions, rain is the principal source. Precipitation, rain or snow, is the first stage of the continual cycle of water in its round from atmosphere to the earth and return by evaporation from water bodies, snow surfaces and land surfaces. The continual cycle of distribution of water is governed by the process called as hydrologic cycle. Thus, precipitation or atmospheric water is the first form of water above the earth’s surface, the second form being the surface water on earth and the third form is the subsurface water or underground water. The study of occurrence, distribution and circulation of precipitation through the unending hydrologic cycle forms the basic part of study of hydrology. As mentioned above, the part of precipitation that is not used by the plants in-situ flows over the soil surface as runoff and contributes to either surface or ground water supply.

Engineering hydrology is the science that deals with the estimation of runoff and its transmission from one place to the other, besides dealing with the properties of water in nature. For, an engineer, surface and groundwater are the two most important components to deal with. But due to lack of data of stream flow, it is usually necessary to study precipitation, evaporation and percolation to indirectly determine the availability of surface and groundwater. For planning and management of water resources systems, an engineer has to estimate (i) water resources potential of a basin, (ii) dependable yield for irrigation and hydel power generation and industrial water demand (iii) probability of occurrence of floods with their magnitude, (iv) sediment yield and transportation (v) hydrometeorology (vi) new sources of water for irrigation (vii) stream flow forecasting by use of precipitation data (viii) water control, navigation, control of soil erosion and control of pollution of water bodies and (ix) operation and maintenance of river valley projects. For estimation of the above mentioned parameters, it is important to understand the hydrologic cycle properly.

• Management is independent (usually the managers are owners).
• Capital is supplied and ownership is held by an individual or small group.
• The area of operation is mainly local. Workers and owners are in one home community. Markets need not be local.
• Relative size within the industry – the business is small when compared to the biggest in its field. The size of the top bracket varies greatly so that what might seem large in field would be definitely small in another.

The immediate objective of the programme was to achieve rapid increase in food grain production to meet the food grain requirement of the country. The programme was implemented in the district having potential irrigation facilities with less prone to natural hazards. Integrated and intensive approaches were adopted to solve the problems of agriculture production in the areas which were more responsive to such production effort. The programme sought to achieve rapid increase in the level of agricultural production through a concentration of financial technical, extension and administrative resources. In the long run it aimed at a self - generating break through in productivity and raising the production potential by stimulating the human and physical process of change.

IADP was a demonstrational programme which showed how to increase production more rapidly on one hand and a path finding experimental programme which facilitated the development of new innovations, new ideas and procedures for wider adoption in agriculture development.

One of the major drawbacks of IADP was its neglect of the equity aspect of the development. Even though this drawback, the spectacular results in improved production yield obtained in IADP, prompted Government to extending the benefit of the programme to other districts of the country with less cost and reduced staff strength. This resulted in launching of the Intensive Agriculture Area Programme (IAAP) in 1964.
