ABSTRACT

Future is the era of ICT (Information Communication Technology) which is equally applicable in the field of Agriculture. Farmers database will be an important part of ICT which is required for smooth functioning of various agricultural activities like Farmer’s Trainings, Demonstrations, Crop monitoring, Support to farmers, implementation of various government schemes etc.  This software records farmers Name, Phone number, Sex, Category (SC/ST/Gen),  Number of dependents, Annual agricultural income, whether fully or partially dependent, Land holding size,  Major crops, Village, Block, Sub-division, Land situation (Plains/ Low Hills/ Mid Hills/ High Hills), Soil Reaction, Soil type, (Highly Acidic/Moderately /acidic/Neutral/Alkaline/Highly Alkaline), NPK status, Irrigation facility and information regarding Cattle. From the above record various reports can be generated according to the needs of the scientific personnel. For example soil scientist will have record of soil pH & NPK status of different farmers across the district. Scientist can filter the database to get farmers of a particular soil type to conduct training;

Introduction
The mammalian embryos are subdivided into two groups namely domestic animals where extraembryonic membranes form by folding process, and primates where blastocyst implants very soon after it enters the uterus and extra embryonic membranes forms after implantations. The major function of fetal membranes is to provide nutrients to developing fetus, protection, synthesis of enzymes and hormones and caring of fetal waste products. It is consisted of yolk sac, amnion, allantoic and trophoblast or chorion. The trophoblast is the single most important tissue of fetal membranes which has potential role in absorbing, transmitting and handling nutritive and waste products.
Yolk sac
It is a primitive structure. Develops early in the embryonic period from the entoderm which disappears after short period of time in ruminants. The uterine milk, secreted by the endometrial glands, is absorbed by the blastocyst along with yolk sac to provide nutrition to early embryo. Before forming other embryonic membranes yolk sac performs limited functions whose role is limited during mid and late gestation.
Amnion
It is an ectodermic vesicle that arises from an out folding of the chorion which is a double walled sac that completely surrounds the fetus except at the umbilical ring. The inner layer of this double-walled sac is the “true amnion” and the outer layer is the “false amnion” amnion chorion. Like yolk sac, the amnion chorion also lasts for shorter period.The amniotic fluid is clear, colorless and mucous in nature. Source of amniotic fluid: In early to mid-gestation, it is probably from the amniotic epithelium and from fetal urine as the fluid is quite watery. 1. Introduction

Fish forms an integral component of the Indian food basket and it is more so for the population living in the eastern and north eastern States of India. The eastern states of India include States such as West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. As per a current estimate of 2023 (https://www.indiacensus.net), approximately a population of 31.66 crore, i.e. 22.15% of the country’s total, live in these four States. Due to the suitable geographical terrain, these states have been bestowed upon a large number of riverine stretches, a large number of natural reservoirs of varied sizes, beels and floodplain wetlands, and a huge plain terrain supporting ponds and tank resources. Due to the very nature of the land and the popularity of fish among the populace, these eastern Indian states have also served as the main stage for the development of fisheries and aquaculture during the last centuries in the country. Further, many of the epoch making technologies for the development of fisheries in the inland waters as well as aquaculture in the ponds have originated from this region.

Principle
Jam: Jam is a product made by boiling the fruit pulp with a sufficient quantity of sugar to reasonable consistency, firm enough to hold fruit tissues in position. Apple, pear, sapota, apricot, carrot etc. are used for preparation of fruit jam. Jam contains 0.5-0.6 % acid and invert sugar should not be more than 40 %.
Total soluble solids (TSS)
The TSS value is defined as the amount of sugar and soluble minerals present in fruits and vegetables. A refractometer is based on the principle of total refraction. This is done by placing a few drops of distilled water on the prism in the specimen chamber of the back the cover. The distilled water reading should be zero. If it is not so, it should be set to zero with the scale correction knob. The specimen chamber is now cleaned with muslin cloth or tissue paper. For determining the TSS, a drop of sample (jam, juice and syrup, etc.) is placed on the prism and the percentage of dry substance in it read directly on scale in refractometer.

Principle
Jelly: Jelly is a semi-solid product prepared by boiling a clear, strained solution of pectin containing fruit extract, free from pulp, after the addition of sugar and acid. A perfect jelly should be transparent, well set, but not too stiff, and should have the original flavour of the fruit. It should be of attractive colour and keep its shape when removed from the mould. Pectin (0.5-1.0%), acid (0.5-0.75%), sugar (65%), and water are the four essential ingredients. Pectin test and determination of end-point of jelly formation are very important for the quality of the jelly. Some recipes for jelly making are given below:

Principle
Nectar: The term ‘fruit nectar’ is used to designate pulpy fruit juice blended with sugar syrup and citric acid to produce a ready-to-drink beverage. In this fruit beverage contains at least 20% juice/pulp and 15% total soluble solid and also 0.3% acid. It is not diluted before serving. Many fruit juices are either too acidic or strongly flavoured; these cannot be pleasant without dilution of blending or both. These strong, tart juices are delicious after dilution with thin syrup or blend juice e.g. apricot, guava and plum juice. Out of the tropical fruits, nectars made from banana, guava, mango and papaya are quite popular. The product is sealed in container or glass bottles and processed by heat to prevent spoilage. The fruit ingredients may be puree, pulp, juice or concentrated equivalent to 40 percent of the finished products. Apples, cherries and pineapples are used in combination with others fruits. The sweeteners are sugar, invert sugar syrup, dried corn syrup, glucose syrup and the optional ingredients are lemon juice, citric, malic and fumaric acids as acidifier and ascorbic acid as antioxidants (150 ppm) can be used.

Principle
Squash: A fruit juice squash essentially consists of juice containing moderate quantity of fruit pulp to which cane sugar is added for sweetening e.g. orange squash, plum squash. This is a type of fruit beverage containing at least 25 percent fruit juice/pulp and 40-50 percent total soluble solids, commercially. It also contains about 1.0 percent acid and 350 ppm SO2 or 600 ppm sodium benzoate. It is diluted before serving.
Mango, orange and pineapple are used for making squash commercially. It can also be prepared from lemon, lime, guava, pear, apricot, muskmelon, papaya etc., using potassium metabisulphate (KMS) as preservative, or from jamun, passion fruit, peach, phalsa, mulberry, raspberry, straw berry, grapefruit etc., with sodium benzoate as preservative.

Circular economy principles provide a framework for developing materials that minimize resource consumption and waste while maintaining functional performance throughout their life cycle. This chapter examines the development of green nanocomposites through sustainable sourcing, circular material design, appropriate processing technologies, and functional enhancement. It discusses strategies for selecting renewable raw materials, designing composites for circularity, applying nanotechnology to improve performance, and evaluating environmental impacts through life-cycle assessment. Applications of sustainable green nanocomposites and challenges in implementing circular economy principles are also considered. The chapter concludes by highlighting future innovations in synthesis, design, processing, and evaluation needed to expand the contribution of green nanocomposites to global sustainability.

2.1 Introduction

Greenhouses are used mainly for cultivating vegetables and fruits during the off-season to provide favorable growing conditions. Proper management of the greenhouse structure is necessary to create these off-seasonal favorable conditions for plants. Factors like site selection, location, atmospheric conditions, cropping pattern, and structure of the greenhouse are considered during the development of a greenhouse. The National Committee on the use of Plastics in Agriculture (NCPA-1982) suggests conducting site-specific greenhouse technology trials before implementation across the nation.

Introduction
Cardiovascular system consists of heart and blood vessels which include both arteries and veins. The formation of blood vessels occurs in two stages-vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. Blood islands are formed on the yolk sac by clusters of mesodermal cells. Vasculogenesis i.e., formation of blood vessels starts during third week of gestation in the blood islands. It starts first in the yolk sac and later in the allantois. Angiogenesis describes budding and sprouting of new vessels from the existing vessels. The adult heart is a modified blood vessel. The cardiogenic plate lies ventral to the pericardial coelom in the third week gestation. The position gets reversed with the forward growth of the head and folding of the embryo. Two endocardial tubes appear by the end of 6 to 7 somite stage which fuse to form the primitive heart in the 8 to 9 somite stage. The parts of the endocardial tube are- sinus venosus, atrium, ventricle, bulbus cordis and truncus arteriosus. The four chambered heart is formed by the formation of endocardial cushions, interatrial septum, interventricular septum and spiral septum. The interatrial septum includes the formation of septum primum and septum secundum. Oxygenated blood from the placenta enters the embryo by a large umbilical vein which enters the liver of the developing embryo. It is conveyed to the posterior vena cava through ductus venosus. The blood from the vena cava enters the right atrium which is sent to the left atrium through foramen ovale. Blood then enters the left ventricle and transmitted to all the parts through the aorta) The umbilical arteries arising from the aorta transport blood to placenta for oxygenation. After birth, lungs become functional as the placental circulation ceases. The formation of arterial system involves the modification of aortic arches, ventral aorta, dorsal aorta and its dorsal, ventral and lateral branches. Aortic arches appear sequentially and connect cranial portions of dorsal aorta with ventral aorta)The venous system is derived from the remnants of the cardinal system and vitelline veins and to a lesser extent the umbilical veins.

Initially, exploitation of heteosis was confined to corn and a few other open- pollinated crops but presently heterosis is being exploited practically in all species cutting across mode of reproduction. More and more evidences are emerging that heterotic expression in a cross is a function of genetic backgrounds and genes. Heterotic grouping would remain a key strategy in management of diverse genetic backgrounds and genes for full exploitation of heterosis. The commonly used methods in developing hybrids in self- pollinated crops are listed and explained as follows:

Manual emasculation and Pollination Method

In this method, female parent flower buds are emasculated manually and the emasculated buds are pollinated by the pollen grain collected from protected flowers of the male parent. This method is effective and successful where the crossed fruits produce plenty of seeds and the seed requirement for planting the commercial hybrid seed is much less. Consequently, this method is being used in a routine manner on a commercial scale in vegetable crops mostly by private sector seed companies in India and south-east Asian countries. The crops covered under this method of hybrid seed production are as follows:

Tomato, hot-pepper, sweet pepper, eggplant, okra, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, smooth gourd, cucumber, pumpkin, water melon and muskmelon. Cucurbits are included here as although they are cross-pollinated but behave like self-pollinated crops in terms of almost no inbreeding depression.

The proposal presented takes into account the rationale of using natural source of immunity, discarding any preservatives or artificial flavors and additives. Collection of fresh produce followed by processing of fruits and vegetables, in the form of a veggie mix slushy which is ready to eat, ready to cook and easy to digest, through the use of sustainable retorting technology. The proposal takes into account the major problems regarding food for the elder like lack of digestion, in sufficient appetite, lack of value in terms of vitamins and minerals of food, also targeting the notion of feeling sick by taking multi vitamin and immunity tablets on a regular basis.

The development of the integumentary system is a remarkable evolutionary adaptation that reflects the diverse environmental challenges faced by different species. The integumentary system has evolved to meet the specific needs of various species, playing a crucial role in survival. As organisms transitioned from aquatic to terrestrial environments, the integument had to adapt to prevent dehydration, protect against UV radiation, and manage temperature fluctuations. For example, the development of a thicker, keratinized epidermis in terrestrial animals minimizes water loss and provides a barrier against environmental stressors. In mammals, the integumentary system exhibits even greater complexity. The evolution of hair, fur, and other adaptations allows for enhanced thermoregulation, sensory perception, and social interaction. For instance, many mammals have evolved specialized hair types, such as the insulating undercoat found in Arctic species or the short, coarse hair of desertdwelling animals that aids in heat dissipation. Anatomical Structure The integumentary system is composed of several key components: the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis (subcutaneous layer), and associated appendages such as hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands.

5.1 Introduction

The chapter describes the development of local web server on the laptop, to control the actuator from the server. Web server is used as remote control for the system. Principle
Pickle is an edible product preserved and flavoured in a solution of common salt and vinegar. Spices and oil are also added. They add to palatability of a meal, aid in digestion and are good appetizers too. Pickles are prepared from fruit and vegetables like cauliflower, reddish, carrot, green chili, turnip, cabbage, onion, mango, jackfruit, aonla and lemon etc. Commercial preservation of many pickle relied upon conversion of fermentable carbohydrates by lactic acid bacteria to organic acids during bulk storage and/or the addition of sufficient amount of sugar, vinegar and other ingredients to the fully cured and packed products to preclude any microbial growth. Organic acids, oil, salt and spices all have antimicrobial properties at suitable concentration especially in combination which preserves the pickles. Pickles in brine such as or after fermentation however, need some amount of preservative or pasteurization to prevent the spoilage.

Comprising the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS), the nervous system enables the coordination of reflexes and voluntary movements, facilitating interactions with the environment. Structural Organization: the CNS is composed of the brain and spinal cord, which are protected by the bony encasement of the skull and vertebral column, respectively. The brain varies significantly across species, reflecting adaptations to specific ecological niches and behaviors. For instance, the canine brain shows notable development in areas associated with olfaction, whereas the equine brain has adaptations for vision and balance, crucial for flight responses. The spinal cord serves as a conduit for neural signals between the brain and the peripheral nerves. It is organized segmentally, with spinal nerves emerging from specific regions. This segmentation corresponds to the vertebral column and is vital for diagnosing spinal cord injuries and diseases in animals. Each spinal nerve innervates specific muscle groups and areas of the skin, forming a somatic map essential for clinical examination and treatment. Neurons and Neuroglia: Neurons are the functional units of the nervous system, specialized for the transmission of electrochemical signals. In veterinary anatomy, it is essential to understand the structure of neurons, which includes the cell body, dendrites, and axon. Neurons can be classified into various types—sensory (afferent), motor (efferent), and interneurons—each playing distinct roles in reflex arcs and neural circuits. Neuroglia, or glial cells, provide support, nourishment, and protection for neurons. In veterinary practice, the role of glial cells in pathology is increasingly recognized, particularly in conditions such as neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. The global demand for high producer animals is rising, and cattle producers are looking for ways to improve productivity and efficiency. One method for developing cattle with enhanced traits is crossbreeding – combining the desirable qualities of two or more cattle breeds into one animal.
Crossbreeding allows cattle producers to take advantage of breed differences and heterosis while managing unwanted traits.
Implementing an effective breeding strategy can help cattle producers select for optimum performance in their herd.
Benefits of Crossbreeding Cattle
Crossbreeding offers commercial beef producers several advantages compared to using only straight-breed animals. Some key benefits include:
1. Heterosis – Crossbred animals exhibit hybrid vigour or heterosis, which is the increased performance for traits like growth rate, fertility, and longevity compared to purebred animals.
The heterosis effect results from the increase in heterozygosity or genetic diversity from combining divergent breeds. Heterosis levels are highest in first-cross animals (the initial cross between two pure breeds.
2. Complementarity – An additional advantage of crossbreeding is combining the strengths of two or more breeds to produce an animal with the ideal blend of traits.
For example, crossing a breed known for high intramuscular fat and marbling, like Angus, with a lean breed that excels in meat yield and growth, like Charolais, can result in an animal with both good marbling and leanness.
3. Breed Complementation – Crossbred animals also benefit from breed complementation. This occurs when the strengths in one breed offset or complement the weaknesses in the other breed. For example, British maternal breeds tend to be lower in milk production but exhibit excellent maternal behaviour

New varieties of bougainvillea have been developed in India at different research institutions, nurseries, botanical societies and also by individual efforts. Details have been mentioned above. New varieties developed at CSIR-NBRI need special mention. 

CSIR-NBRI has developed a number of new varieties by using various available breeding tools viz. through spontaneous mutation, classical breeding, chromosome manipulation and induced mutation (Banerji 2007, 2008, Banerji and Datta 1986, 1988, 1993, 1996, Banerji et al., 1987, Data and Banerji 1990, 1994a,b, Datta 1992b, 2004, Nath et al., 1983, Ohri 1995, Sharma 1996, Zadoo et al., 1975b, Jayanti et al., 2007, Roy et al., 2015).

Conifers are valuable natural resources of the country, which contribute substantially to its socio-economic development by providing goods and services to the people and industry. They generate considerable revenue and also play a major role in enhancing the quality of the environment by influencing the basic life support system. Unfortunately, however, they have been subjected to over- exploitation and biotic pressure in the last many years, thereby threatening the very existence of some species such as yew, chilgoza pine etc. The genus Pinus is, in fact, one of the largest and most divergent of the coniferous genera, comprising about 95 species and numerous other varieties and hybrids. They are distributed widely in the northern hemisphere, chiefly in the temperate and cold climates.

World population is expected to cross 8.5 billion by 2025 and it will be a gigantic task to produce enough to meet the future food demand by growing same set of crop varieties on anticipated reduced area. Most of the land that could be brought under cropping has been utilized with exception of some land in Sub-Saharan Africa and South America (Borlaug and Doswell, 1993). Therefore, it is warranted to produce more from less land, less water and less inputs which can be achieved by enhancing the efficiency of production system by devising more efficient crop management practices and developing input use efficient cultivars.

The world is at a critical juncture where the impacts of climate change are increasingly felt across various sectors, with agriculture being one of the most vulnerable. The agricultural sector, which is a cornerstone of many economies, especially in developing countries, faces unprecedented challenges due to rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events. These climatic changes not only affect crop yields and quality but also have broader implications for food security, economic stability, and sustainable development. In this context, the development and dissemination of operational agroclimatological advisories ((OAA) have emerged as a vital strategy for mitigating the impacts of climate variability on agriculture.
5.1. The Imperative for Agroclimatological Advisories
Agroclimatological advisories are specialized services designed to provide farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders with timely and accurate information on optimal agricultural practices in response to prevailing and forecasted climatic conditions. These advisories are grounded in the integration of climatological data, agricultural research, and local knowledge, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity, reduce risks associated with climate variability, and promote sustainable agricultural practices (Fig. 5.1).
The relevance and necessity of these advisories are underscored by several critical factors:
• Climate Change Impacts: The agricultural sector is both a contributor to and a victim of climate change. Agroclimatological advisories can guide farmers in adopting practices that reduce the vulnerability of their crops to changing climatic conditions.
• Food Security: With the global population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, enhancing agricultural productivity and resilience is crucial for ensuring food security. Tailored advisories can help farmers make informed decisions that potentially increase yields and reduce losses.
• Economic Stability: Agriculture is a significant source of income and employment in many countries. By minimizing risks associated with climate variability, agroclimatological advisories can contribute to economic stability and poverty reduction.

Plants are exposed to microbial pathogens at all growth stages from seeds to harvested produce. But they are resistant to numerous pathogens that are present in the environment and susceptible only to some of them. In other words, a plant species has built-in resistance mechanism to avoid or resist the invasion by many microbial pathogens. A pathogen may reach several plant species, but it can infect only a few plant species in the particular location or region. The process of pathogenesis or disease development is initiated when the pathogen reaches the plant surface that allows the initiation of infection. An organism is able to derive its nutrition from the susceptible host plant and becomes pathogenic. The physiological functions of such infected plants deviate from those of the healthy (normal) plants and suffer irreversibly to different magnitudes. The organism adversely affecting the plant growth and other functions to obtain nutrition is the pathogen. It develops rapidly or slowly in proportion to the levels of susceptibility / resistance of the host plant to the pathogen species concerned. Thus a plant species may be susceptible to some pathogens, while remains resistant / immune to other organisms that may be pathogenic to some other plant species. Depletion of compounds from the plants to meet the nutritional requirement of the pathogen leads to different kinds of external symptoms and internal changes due to derangement of normal metabolic functions of the host plant. The process of disease development in a susceptible host plant species is known as pathogenesis.

Objective: Development of Potato chips
Potato is a perishable commodity and cannot be preserved longer in fresh form. Although for some time potatoes can be preserved by low temperature storage but this low temperature storage results in many undesirable biochemical changes in the quality of the potatoes. Another alternative for the preservation of potatoes is to conversion in the shelf stable value-added processed products. Further, value-addition and processing of potato will also ensure the availability of wholesome, safe, nutritious, and acceptable food to consumers throughout the year along with simultaneous reduction in post-harvest losses and profit to the farmers for their produce. Potatoes are processed into a great variety of products, including cooked potatoes, par-fried potato strips, French fries, potato chips, potato starch, potato granules, potato flakes and dehydrated diced potatoes and others. Globally, only two potato-based snack foods i.e., chips/ wafers and French-fried potato are the main value-added products of potato, accounting for more than 42% of the potato based processed products. Such type of fried products is loved for convenience and their premium taste, flavour, and texture. With the technological advancements, now potato processing is highly industrialized and market driven. Like other processed products, the finished product quality of potato based value-added products severely depends upon the quality of raw potatoes used. Therefore, the major challenge in potato processing is to fulfil the tuber quality requirements specifically, tuber morphology, reducing sugar (=0.1%) and dry matter content (=20%). Alternatively, we can infer that all type of potato is not suitable for processing. The crispy texture of potato chips is one of the most important quality indicators of the finished product, apart from colour, odour and flavour. Potato chips texture is often described in terms of crispness, hardness and crunchiness. This crispy/crunchy character is an important sensory characteristic on which consumers base their appreciation.

ABSTRACT

Owing to paucity of available genetic / molecular markers, onion breeding still relies heavily on phenotypic selection methods. DNA markers can provide plant breeders genetic information for indirect selection of plants. All the DNA based procedures require high quality plant genomic DNA. Abundance of polysaccharides and phenolics present in plant tissue often impede PCR amplification. The polysaccharide contaminants can also produce downstream problems by inhibiting many of the enzymes that are employed in subsequent analysis and cloning. RFLP based markers in Allium species pose certain problems due to relatively large size of the genome compared to most other herbaceous crops. As an alternative, RAPD would prove advantageous in genetic analysis of Allium. Here we present our results on optimization of DNA extraction in onion to get amplifiable quality of DNA for further RAPD analysis. Leaf samples were collected from the onion germplasm maintained at Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bangalore. Dried leaf protocol was suitably modified to obtain fair quality of DNA. After varying each of the ingredients of the extraction buffer we arrived at the optimal extraction buffer, which resulted in good quality DNA. Quality was analyzed by subjecting the DNA to agarose gel electrophoresis and restriction digestion. Extracted genomic DNA was quantified with ‘Hoefer’s Dynaquant’ (Pharmacia, USA). The DNA quantity ranged between 160-2400mg/gm of dried powder. The standardized 25ml PCR mixture contained template DNA (25ng), 5 pmol of primer (Operon Tech. Inc., Alameda), 2mM MgCl₂, I unit of Taq polymerase (Bangalore Genei), with 10x buffer along with 200 mM each of dNTPs. Amplifications were performed in thermal cycler (MJ Research, PTC 100) for 45 cycles after an initial denaturation of 95°C for 3 minutes. In each cycle denaturation for one minute at 95°C, annealing for one minute at 35°C and extension for two minute at 72°C was programmed with final extension step at 72°C for 5 minutes. This fine tuned protocol resulted in clear, informative RAPD profile.

Extension worker play a important role in rabbit keeping. It increases food production and experience in rabbit farming, people has to be educated as they have no knowledge of rabbit keeping especially people of towns and villages.

The presence of a Y or X chromosome influences sexual differentiation and the development of reproductive organs. The reproductive system comprises the gonads, genital ducts, external genitalia, and gonad descent. Development of reproductive system is initiated in gonads which differentiate into ovary or testis. The formation of genital ducts and glands occur later. Differentiation of reproductive system is a complex process which involves a number of different mechanisms operating at several stages of development. It occurs only after the arrival of primordial germ cells. First, the gonads undergo an indifferent stage before differentiating into the testes and ovaries. Thereafter, the sexual differentiation of the genital ducts is determined by the presence or absence of testosterone and Anti-Müllerian hormone, both of which influence the outcome of the mesonephric and paramesonephric ducts. Then sexual distinction of the external genitalia is also determined by hormonal secretions, or lack thereof and finally, the gonads descend primarily due to the shortening of the gubernaculum. Importantly, the development of the reproductive system is directly related to that of the urinary system. Both systems develop from common intermediate mesoderm and their excretory ducts terminate in a common cavity known as cloaca) Two important ducts develop, i.e. wolffian duct (in males) and mullerian duct (in females). Mesonephric duct which is also known as Wolffian duct, originates from pronephric duct. Pronephric duct continues to grow caudally till it opens into the ventral part of the cloaca. Beyond pronephros (primitive kidney), it is called mesonephric duct. In males, this duct persists and forms epididymis, vas deferens and seminal vesicle. In females, this duct undergoes atrophy. Shortly after the formation of Wolffian duct, a 2nd pair of duct develops i.e. Mullerian duct. Each arises on the lateral aspect of the corresponding Wolffian duct as a tubular invagination of the cells lining the abdominal cavity. Mullerian duct opens on cloaca between the orifices of Wolffian ducts. In females, mullerian duct persist and undergo further development. Introduction
The development of the respiratory system in animals is a crucial process that begins early during embryogenesis. The respiratory system, responsible for gas exchange, develops from the endoderm of the early embryo, which is one of the three germ layers. Specifically, the respiratory tract develops as an outgrowth from the primitive gut tube (foregut). This process involves complex interactions of molecular signalling, tissue differentiation, and organ morphogenesis.
Key Stages of Respiratory System Development
1. Formation of the Respiratory Primordium
The respiratory system originates from the laryngotracheal groove, which appears on the ventral wall of the primitive foregut. This groove eventually forms the laryngotracheal tube, which serves as the foundation for the respiratory tract.
2. Division of the Foregut

Objective: Development of RTS beverage from seasonal fruits.
Material required
Fruit, juicer-mixer-grinder, preservatives, sugar, refractometer, pan and knife etc.
Principle
Ready To Serve(RTS): This a type of fruit beverage which contain at least 10% fruit juice and 10% total soluble solid besides about 0.3% acid. This is not diluted before serving.
Before undertaking the preparation of beverage, it is necessary to know techniques of extraction of pulp/juice from various fruits used for RTS.

Procedure
1. Mix the dough with ingredients I. Keep it for fermentation till breaks easily without stretching.
2. Put the sponge to mixer. Add salt, sugar, flour and optional ingredients and mix. In last, add shortening. The dough should be soft and very smooth.
3. Let the dough relax for about 30 min. cut pieces of dough weighing 100 g/450g.
4. Mould in along oblong shape and place in baking pans.
5. Proof the moulded dough to a desired height.
6. Bake at 210oC to a golden colour.
7. Cool the loaves overnight.
8. Cut the rusk of desired thickness. Arrange on baking sheets and toast at 190oC till these are crisp and golden brown in colour.
9. Cool and packaged.

Principle: Sugarcane is one of the main crops worldwide, and it has an important impact on environmental issues. Sugarcane is used in daily routine life in many ways like as vinegar, jiggery, juices etc. In India sugarcane crop is best cultivated in the west U.P. Sugarcane original vinegar drink with high nutritional quality was produced from fresh sugarcane juice using the yeast culture and acetic acid bacteria by fermentation techniques such as submerged alcoholic fermentation followed by acetic fermentation at room temperature. Refined sugarcane is the primary product of sugarcane juice, during its processing; various other valuable products are also obtained in an unrefined form such as brown sugar, molasses, jaggery and vinegar. Sugarcane juice is widely used in the treatment of jaundice, hemorrhage, dysuria, and other urinary disease. Nowadays sugarcane vinegar is also used in Indian kitchens commonly in pickles, salads, etc. Vinegar is extremely useful for human health including antimicrobial activity, blood pressure reduction, antioxidant activity, reduction in the effects of diabetes, and prevention of cardiovascular disease. Vinegar can be made from any carbohydrate source, amylaceous, or sugary substrate through two successive fermentations: alcoholic fermentation, which is carried out by means of yeasts, and acetic fermentation, with acetic bacteria as the protagonist.

1. INTRODUCTION

India is blessed with all types of vegetation because of the diversified climatic and physiographic factors like tropical, subtropical, temperate and alpine. Due to its wide ranging environmental regimes and diverse biological communities, it is one of the world’s 12 “Mega diversity” nations. Out of nearly 425 families of flowering plants in the world, 328 families with 21,000 species are found in India. Further, in India about 20.64 % area is under forest where various species of trees are found, depending upon the climatic conditions.

There are about 29 species of pine which produce edible nuts and utilized at least by indigenous tribal culture in the world. Most of these nut bearing pines are haploxilon (soft) pines, although several species are of diploxilon (hard) pine group. Spain is the largest producer of Pinus pinea and China is the largest producer and exporter of Pinus koriences and Pinus sibrica nuts. Some of the famous edible pine nut species are listed in Table 1. Chilgoza (P. gerardiana Wall.), commonly known as ‘chilgoza’ or ‘Neoza’ is a member of genus Pinus that maintains a very unique position of being an integral part of the vibrant, but fragile ecosystems of the great Himalayas in the Indian sub-continent. The chilgoza pine is the only pine which is of immense social forestry importance. The earning for the bread and butter of most of tribals in HP is from the chilgoza nuts. Further, it also forms an important part of their diet as well as an item essential for some social obligations. Tribals are still adopting the age old practices for chilgoza nut extraction and further their selling to the agents at throw away prices during peak season of nuts.

Abstract

There are enormous food processing industries comprising of grains and oilseeds milling, fruits and vegetables processing, spice grinding and other food processing units in India. Also, there are many seed processing companies in the country, which are engaged in the processing and production of good quality seeds of different crops besides National Seeds Corporation and State Seed Corporations. All industries are using different type of machinery and equipment like cleaner, grader, expeller, milling machines, polishers, dehusking machines, size reduction equipment, different type of grinders, separators, treatment machinery, mixers, pulverizes etc. Besides this equipment, material-handling equipment like conveyor (belt, chain or screw type), elevators, holding bins and other handling equipment are also frequently used in the processing plants. To meet the above requirement many firms are also involved in the manufacturing of these equipment and machinery. Since, most of the seed processing equipment, dhal milling plants, material handling equipment are manufactured by the unorganized sector and hence equipment and machinery fabricated by them are not of very good quality. However, Bureau of Indian Standards has formulated the codes of manufacturing for these equipment and machinery. Seed processing equipment manufactured in India are generally copy of imported processing equipment. The manufacturers do not use materials of good quality. Framework of the machines is very poor. These machines are not also tested for their efficiency, 

Introduction
The development of the head and neck in embryos involves the formation of two primary sections at the cephalic (head) end) These include:
1. Neural Portion: This part consists of the brain, eyes, and internal ears, along with their supportive structures. In early embryonic stages, the neural region is larger and more prominent. Even as the face develops, the neural portion retains a dominant role.
2. Facial or Visceral Portion: This section encompasses the upper ends of the alimentary (digestive) and respiratory tracts. As the embryo matures, the nose and jaws undergo differentiation and growth, reducing the initial size difference between the neural and facial portions.
Pharyngeal (Branchial) Arches and Their Role
The formation of the face and neck is closely linked with the development of the pharyngeal (branchial) arches. These arches appear as bar-like ridges with intervening grooves on the sides of the embryonic head around the fourth week of gestation. Though similar to the gill arches in fish, these structures in mammals do not develop respiratory functions. Instead, they transform into various permanent structures of the adult face and neck.
• Formation of Pharyngeal Arches and Grooves: Five pairs of pharyngeal arches typically develop, separated by four ectodermal grooves known as pharyngeal grooves. Underneath these grooves, the pharyngeal endoderm pushes the mesenchyme outward, forming pharyngeal pouches.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the most important vegetable crops cultivated in the world. It is used as raw in salads and also used as cooked vegetable in the preparation of curries. Processed items such as tomato puree, ketchup, pickle, chutney, whole peeled tomatoes and tomato powder are also consumed considerably. It is a rich source of Vitamins A & C. Lycopene and other flavonoids in tomato serve as good source of antioxidants. Tomato occupies 5 million hectares with a productivity of 34t/ha. in the world. In India it is cultivated in an area of 0.88 million hectares with productivity of 21 t/ha.

Principle
Chutney and sauces are important food products prepared both in homes as well as commercially in India. They improve the digestion and are good appetizers. Tomatoes are a good source of vitamin C. Fresh tomatoes are very refreshing and appetizing but can not be stored for a long period. Often they are sold at distress prices during the peak harvest season and nearly 25% of the produce is spoiled due to mishandling and improper processing facilities. Such losses can be reduced by converting fresh tomatoes in to delicious product like paste, puree, juice, ketchup/sauce and powder. Generally, the sugar content in ketchup/sauce varies from 10-26%. The salt content of the product should be 1.3 to 3.4%. Good quality vinegar is essential for the preparation of high quality sauce/ketch up. It should contain 5.0-5.5% acetic acid or glacial acetic acid (100% acetic acid) and should be added when the product has thickened sufficiently. Tomato sauce/ketchup generally contains 1.25-1.50% acetic acid. In order to increase the viscosity and prevent the separation of pulp from clear juice, pectin can be added to extent of 0.1-0.2% pectin by weight of the finished product. Add 0.025% sodium benzoate as preservative to the product before bottling and then pasteurize.

ABSTRACT

Cassava has developed importance mainly as an industrial crop due to its ability to store large quantities of starch (74% to 85% of dry weight) within secondary root structures. Cassava starch is exploited as a source of human food, feed for livestock and as raw material for the food processing and chemical industries. Research accomplishments during the last four decades helped India to have the top position among cassava growing countries with an average yield of 24 t ha-1. However several traits like starch quality, high protein , post harvest deterioration etc can be altered only through the development of transgenics. The present study summarizes the results of the experiments undertaken to optimize the protocol for the development of transgenic cassava through Agrobacterium mediated gene transfer. Friable Embryogenic Callus (FEC) was developed in the cassava var. TMS 60444 us ing Murashige and Skoog (MS) media with picloram (50μM). Experiments were conducted to study the efficiency of different Agrobacterium stains viz, AGL 8, GV3101, C58C1, LBA 4404 and EH105 in transforming FEC. The strains differed in their growth rate. The strains EH105 and AGL were slower in growth as compared to other strains and the protocol was modified accordingly. Among all the strains, EH105 resulted in maximum recovery of transgenic tissues. The paper also summarizes the present status of development of transgenic cassava along with future thrusts.

1. INTRODUCTION

Wild pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is one of those fruits which has got a great economic importance. The name “pomegranate”is derived from Latin pomum (apple) and granatus (seeded) which has influenced the common name for pomegranate in many languages (like in German Granatapfel, seeded apple). It has widely been cultivated throughout India and drier parts of South-East Asia, Malaysia, the East Indies and tropical Africa. The most important growing countries of pomegranate are are Egypt, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, India, Mayamar and Saudi Arabia. In India, it grows in the vast tract of the hill slopes of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. One of the important centers of wild pomegranate, in Himachal Pradesh is Darlaghat, located about 50 Km from Shimla. The fruit provides substantial income to the farmers particularly where it is found growing wild such as in Mandi, Kullu, Sirmour, Solan, Shimla, and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh. It is found very common and gregarious in drier and sub-marginal land of mid hill regions of outer Himalayas at an elevation of 900-1800 m above mean sea level (a.m.s.l). Wild pomegranate is considered as one of the commercial fruits of Himachal Pradesh in the form of dried arils popularly known as “Anardana”. Besides Anardana, other value added products can also be prepared from this fruit as detailed in this chapter.

Dietary constitution of Indian people is mostly cereal based. However, the cereals supply chiefly carbohydrates. Therefore, there is deficiency of protein, minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin A, riboflavin, vitamin C, etc. in the diet. The dieticians advocate the intake of 125 g leafy vegetables, 75 g other vegetables and 100 g root and tuber vegetables (total 300 g) everyday because vegetables provide all the nutrient components like carbohydrates, protein, fat, minerals, vitamins and water along with roughages, which are the essential constituents of a balanced diet.

India has attained food security by increased cereal production due to green revolution. In case of vegetables, although there has been increase in production from 15 million tonnes during 1950 to 94 million tonnes in 2005 but still more vegetables are needed to meet the minimum requirement of at least 250 g per day per capita. There has also been increasing demand for fresh export and for processing industries. Moreover, there is a pressure for increasing vegetable supply caused by constantly increasing population in a world of limited acres.

Addition of new agricultural land is of course not possible. In this situation, plant breeding can be expected to contribute substantially to greater vegetable productivity. This can be accomplished not only by the breeding of basically higher yielding varieties but also by the development of varieties that help to stabilize production through resistance to various biotic and abiotic stresses.

Shri Rabindra Nath Tagore in 1914 established a rural reconstruction institute at Sriniketan involving youth from a group of 8 villages.

Maintained a demonstration farm, a dairy and poultry unit, an outdoor clinic, a department of cottage industries and a village school.

Villages were expected to approach these agencies through village workers who lived in villages to obtain solution of their more pressing problems.

Scheme of land development and tree plantation were given due importance.
