This article focuses on the use of composite flour to produce food products, namely bread, biscuits, and pasta, with looks at on its impact, following some improvements made, on the sensory quality, rheology characteristics, and nutritional values as well as its overall acceptance. The blending of wheat flour with various sources of tubers, legumes, cereals and fruit flour in different percentages to produce variety of food products are also reported. Overall, composite flour is a good new approach to utilizing uncommon food products as the application of composite flour produced products with different characteristics and quality, depending on the types and percentage of wheat flour used in the formulation.

Bread has been the staple food worldwide and habit of bread is derived in part due to the convenience and wholesomeness. Wheat is a commonly used cereal for making bread as it gives the desired texture due to the presence of gluten forming proteins like gliadins and glutenins (Decock & Cappelle, 2005). In earlier times idea of composite flour in developing countries originated in order to cut down on import of wheat (as it was not grown in many countries) but in recent past refined wheat flour consumption has lead to health issues and thus in order to improve nutritional and functional properties composite flour has been the norm. Composite flour is the one obtained by mixing wheat flour with cereal and legume flours for making bread and biscuits (Dendy, 1992). However, mixing of non-wheat flours, roots and tubers, legumes or other raw materials can also be regarded as composite flour.

By the use of GPS fitted automated machinery, drones and robotic harvesters and advanced decision support system labour costs are reduced and efficiency is increased (Gebbers and Adamchuk, 2010).By employing soil sensors, and satellite imagery, farmers can gain valuable insights of soil moisture, nutrient levels and pest infestations which helps in irrigation scheduling and adequate fertilizer application (Srinivasan et al., 2019). In contemporary agriculture, the need for sensor-based approaches in soil management has become increasingly apparent. These approaches harness cuttingedge technology and data-driven solutions to optimize soil health, crop production and resource utilization. One of the primary advantages of sensor-based approaches is their ability to monitor soil moisture levels. Soil moisture sensors, such as those based on time-domain reflectometry (TDR) or capacitance technology, provide continuous data on soil moisture content at different depths (Dzikiti et al., 2012). In addition to monitoring moisture and nutrients, sensors can assess other vital soil parameters. Soil pH sensors help maintain the optimal pH level for crop growth, as soil pH can affect nutrient availability. Compaction sensors identify areas of soil compaction, allowing for targeted tillage practices to alleviate compaction and improve root growth. These are just a few examples of how physical parameter sensors can address soil health challenges, as documented in studies by Marchetti et al. (2018) which emphasizes the role of sensors in mitigating soil erosion. Chemical parameters sensors like soil nutrient sensors, such as ion-selective electrodes, can measure key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. This information enables farmers to tailor their fertilization practices with pinpoint accuracy through variable rate technology (VRT) (Zhao et al., 2018). Moreover, sensor data can be integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS) to create detailed soil maps, aiding in sitespecific management strategies.

Jharkhand, a newly created (15 November, 2000) state having total geographical area 79.72 lakh hectares, net sown area 18.1 lakh hectares with cropping intensity 114%, is rich in natural resources such as minerals, coal, soil, water, forest cover (29.3%), biodiversity but deficient (50%) in food grain production because of meagre irrigation facilities (10% of cultivated area) in absence of perennial rivers. This state is primarily rainfed and crop production largely depends on monsoon. The south-west monsoon contributes nearly 85% of rain water. Accordingly, the success or failure of crop production is closely linked with the onset, progress and withdrawal of monsoon. Delay in onset, intermittent dry spell (1-3 weeks), early withdrawal of monsoon are also usually observed. Failure of rain has adverse impact on the reproductive phase of rainy season crops and thus on crop yield as well as establishment of winter season crops. Sometimes high rainfall (140 mm/day) coupled with light soil texture and undulating topo sequence provides congenial environment for soil erosion with runoff. This also offers opportunity for water harvesting. Infact, soil and water are the two basic natural resources which must be conserved and utilized efficiently on long term basis.
