Introduction
Sustainable agriculture refers to farming practices that meet current food production needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It aims to balance environmental health, economic profitability, and social equity, ensuring that agricultural systems can be productive, resource-efficient, and resilient over time. The role of Information Technology (IT) in achieving these objectives has become increasingly crucial as it provides innovative solutions to optimize agricultural practices, minimize resource consumption, and improve overall productivity while safeguarding the environment. Through the integration of IT tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud computing, sustainable agriculture can be advanced in ways that were previously unimaginable. These technologies facilitate precision farming, enhance resource management, monitor crop health, predict weather patterns, and provide farmers with the information to make data-driven decisions that foster sustainability.

1. Introduction
Aquaculture is a rapidly expanding industry, playing a crucial role in addressing the global demand for high-quality protein sources as wild fish stocks face depletion. With aquaculture production on the rise, ensuring the health and productivity of farmed fish has become increasingly important. The health of the fish gut is central to achieving these objectives, as the gut is responsible not only for nutrient digestion and absorption but also for maintaining a strong immune defense. A well-functioning gut leads to better growth performance, reduced disease susceptibility, and improved overall fish welfare.
However, maintaining optimal gut health in aquaculture systems presents challenges. The intensive nature of fish farming can lead to stressors that compromise the gut environment, including changes in water quality, fluctuating diet compositions, and exposure to pathogens. Gut health issues often manifest in poor feed conversion ratios, slower growth, and higher mortality rates, all of which negatively impact aquaculture productivity and sustainability. Therefore, there is a growing focus on finding innovative and natural solutions to improve the gut health of farmed fish.
In recent years, the use of probiotics and prebiotics in fish nutrition has gained significant attention as an effective and eco-friendly strategy to modulate gut microbiota and enhance fish health. These functional feed additives are considered a natural alternative to antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals, which have historically been used to manage diseases and promote growth in aquaculture but come with risks of antibiotic resistance and environmental contamination.

This chapter reviews the research work done in the fields related to the objectives of the study. In any scientific investigation or research a comprehensive review of relevant literature is very essential. Its main function apart from determining the work done before concerning the problem area i.e. area of investigation, it provides an insight into the methods and procedures and create a basis for interpretation of findings. As direct references on all the item are not in abundance, certain specific references along with some indirect references have been incorporated this chapter for the purpose of meaningful use.
2.1. Ecosystem Services and Conservation Agriculture
Acharya, S. K. and Chatterjee, R. (2019) found that conservation agriculture may help in re-building agro-ecology by maintaining carbon sequestration, maintaining soil health, checking soil erosion and ground water depletion, energy balance, mitigating climate change related problems through maintaining ecosystem services.
Ayyam, V., Palanivel, S., and Chandrakasan, S. (2019) stated that CA embraces higher rates of carbon sequestration, organic matter accumulation, soil erosion reduction, and its associated improvement in soil biological properties. Additionally, there is reduction in greenhouse gas emission as a result of CA. Adoption of CA-based farming practices particularly in areas facing notable land degradation and depleting natural resources delineates a win-win scenario due to improved crop yield and trends of increasing soil fertility and scope for climate change adaptation to recuperate degraded soils and improve ecosystem services.

DSM-5 and Diagnosis of Mental Health Issues
Mental health is a fundamental aspect of overall wellbeing and the accurate diagnosis of mental health issues is crucial for providing appropriate and effective treatment. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) is the latest reference guide used by mental health professionals to diagnose mental health conditions (Kapadia et al., 2020). The current edition, DSM- 5, builds on the goal of its predecessors of providing guidelines for diagnoses that can inform treatment and management decisions. The DSM-5 provides a comprehensive and standardized framework for the classification and diagnosis of mental disorders.
The DSM-5 represents a significant advancement in the field of psychiatry, as it incorporates a cross-cultural assessment of mental health issues and an updated classification system. (Petito et al., 2020) This detailed diagnostic criteria helps clinicians accurately identify and differentiate mental health conditions, enabling them to develop tailored treatment plans.

1. Introduction
The early life stages of fish, particularly the larval and juvenile phases, are critical periods in aquaculture characterized by rapid physiological changes, high metabolic demands, and heightened vulnerability to external stressors. Mortality rates during these stages can be alarmingly high, with reports indicating that up to 70% or more of fish larvae and juveniles may not survive to reach adulthood. These losses are typically caused by a combination of nutritional deficiencies, environmental stress, suboptimal husbandry practices, and disease outbreaks. Addressing these challenges is paramount for improving survival rates and ensuring the success of aquaculture systems. Nutritional management during the larval and juvenile stages plays a pivotal role in determining the overall health, growth performance, and survival of fish. Fish larvae and juveniles have distinct dietary requirements compared to adults due to their rapid growth, underdeveloped digestive systems, and the need for specific nutrients to support organ development, skeletal formation, and immune system maturation. A comprehensive understanding of these nutritional needs is essential for developing feeding strategies that optimize fish health and maximize growth potential.
1.1. Importance of Early Nutrition in Fish Development
The nutritional status of larval and juvenile fish significantly influences their physiological development and long-term survival. During the early stages of life, fish undergo rapid cell proliferation and differentiation, especially in tissues such as the muscle, digestive organs, and immune system. Proper nutrition is essential to support these processes, ensuring that fish achieve optimal growth rates and develop strong resistance to environmental stressors and diseases.

Carbohydrates are the most abundant class of organic compounds found in living organisms. Carbohydrates are also called sugars and are found in plants and animals. Plants synthesize them through photosynthesis (endothermic) by fixing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in the presence of solar energy and chlorophyll pigments.

Carbohydrates are stored as starch in plants as a source of energy. They are also stored in animals as glycogen in muscles and the liver. They are also found in skeletal structures of cell walls in plants (cellulose), bacteria (peptidoglycans), insects, and crustaceans. This stored food is consumed by animals and man, and upon their oxidation in the body, energy is released for various metabolic activities (work, growth, and various productive functions). Compositionwise, plants are more prosperous in carbohydrates (30%) than animals (1%), with water at 60% and ash at 4%. Plants are poor in proteins (5%) and lipids (1%) as compared to proteins (20%) and lipids (15%) in animals.
2.1 Introduction to Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates or saccharides (sakcharon=sugar or sweetness) are a chemical term applied to a large group of substances, which are organic compounds containing elements Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen in a ratio of 1:2:1. Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms are in the ratio of two to one as in water molecules. As the ratio of hydrogen to oxygen is like H2O, they are also known as “hydrates of carbon” and are represented as (CH2O)n. But there is an exception to this general formula. Deoxyribose (C5H1OO4) and rhamnose (C6H12O5) do not have the required ratio of 2:1 for hydrogen to oxygen. On the other side, some compounds possess this required ratio but are not carbohydrates, e.g., formaldehyde (CH2O), acetic acid (C2H4O2), and lactic acid (C3H6O3). Understanding the diversity, distribution, and habitat preferences of fish species is crucial for devising effective conservation strategies for fisheries resources. Fish distribution patterns are influenced by factors such as dispersal mechanisms, environmental tolerance, and historical factors, while aquatic organisms are directly impacted by variables like climate, land use, geological features, vegetation, topography, and water chemistry fluctuations (Carter et al., 1980; Wiley et al., 1997). Fish represent the most abundant class of vertebrates, comprising nearly half of all vertebrate species globally, with diverse characteristics in terms of size, biology, morphology, and habitat preferences (Kour et al., 2015). Freshwater ecosystems, which account for 68.7% of the world's cold water fisheries, are particularly significant, especially in regions like the Himalayas, where they support vital aquatic life and offer economic opportunities through aquaculture (Fricke et al., 2023). Cold water fish species, predominantly belonging to the Cyprinidontiformes order, are particularly abundant and important in these ecosystems (Fricke et al., 2023). The biological diversity of the planet, including its freshwater ecosystems, has long been a subject of fascination and study (Joshi et al., 2013). India is ranked ninth in the world for freshwater biodiversity, with over 2,500 fish species, 930 of which are unique to freshwater environments. India has been recognized as one of the mega-diversity countries of the world (Mittemeier and Mittemeier, 1997; Jayaram, 2010). The Himalayan region alone contributes approximately 17% of India's fish population (Ghosh, 1997). This chapter aims to comprehensively understand the diversity, distribution, and habitat preferences of fish species in the Kashmir Valley. By examining key factors influencing fish distribution patterns—such as dispersal mechanisms, environmental tolerance, climate, land use, geological features, vegetation, topography, and water chemistry—we seek to develop effective conservation strategies for fisheries resources. Given the significance of freshwater ecosystems, especially in cold-water regions like the Himalayas, this study will shed light on the ecological and economic importance of these habitats. Additionally, by documenting the diversity and distribution of fish species in the Kashmir Valley, this chapter aims to contribute to the broader understanding of freshwater biodiversity, inform conservation policies, and support sustainable management practices for India's rich fisheries resources.

INTRODUCTION TO DRONES USED FOR EARLY PEST AND DISEASE DETECTION
The utilization of drones for the early detection of pests and diseases in agriculture represents a novel and effective strategy that enables farmers to proactively oversee crop health. Drones outfitted with sophisticated sensors can consistently surveil fields, delivering real-time data and facilitating the prompt detection of possible dangers.
Agricultural drones are employed to identify pests and illnesses at an early stage by capturing aerial imagery of crops. This enables farmers to respond swiftly to safeguard their crops, perhaps resulting in increased yields and reduced environmental impact.
The utilization of drones in agricultural pest management presents numerous benefits compared to conventional techniques. Drones outfitted with infrared cameras can furnish farmers with real-time information on crop health, facilitating the early identification of possible problems such as pests, illnesses, or nutritional deficits.
Pathology can adversely affect plant vitality prior to the manifestation of any obvious indicators such as foliar discoloration. Although these pressures are imperceptible to the unaided eye, cameras equipped with specialized filters may identify these nuanced variations.
Researchers at the Department of Life Sciences and Computing are collaborating with the agricultural services firm Agrii to develop cameras placed on drones. These cameras can autonomously identify early signs of disease and notify farmers when to apply treatments, prior to crop harm.

FAO, Rome (2011) stated a major factor limiting the food security of household in hill areas is shortage of land for cultivation which are simply too small to support the farmers with current food production practices. Closing the yield gap will produce food production and security.
Alkan S. and Toksoy D. (2008) indicates that the forest villages which are at the high altitude and on the field that are not suitable for agriculture. This complicates living in them and increases their dependence to the forest resources. While determining the forest villages, the distance from the forest, and the socio-economic criterions are considered.
Tejada E. and Nielsen M.O. (2008) stated that the harsh eco-climatic and edaphological conditions of the High Altitude of Bolivia adversely impact most of the agricultural and livestock production indices. However, livestock activity, in addition to dealing with the subsistence of rural families, offers more security than the agricultural activity in those eco-systems, since crops are more vulnerable than animals to abrupt climatic changes.

While conventional agromet advisories have played a crucial role in informing agricultural practices, their inherent broad-scale nature often falls short of addressing the nuanced realities of modern farming. For instance, rainfall predictions at a district level can mask significant variations at the farm or even field level due to local topography, soil types, and microclimatic conditions. Similarly, generic recommendations for irrigation scheduling or fertilizer application may not align with the specific needs of different crop varieties, growth stages, or soil moisture retention capacities within a farm. This lack of granularity can lead to inefficient resource utilization, sub-optimal application of inputs, and increased vulnerability to localized weather events, ultimately impacting productivity and profitability.

Several converging factors are propelling the shift towards precision in agrometeorology:

Farmers need precise and timely information to make informed decisions in the face of unpredictable weather.
• The Imperative for Sustainability: Sustainable agricultural practices necessitate the efficient use of resources like water, fertilizers, and pesticides. PAAS can contribute significantly by providing targeted recommendations that minimize waste and environmental impact.
• Technological Advancements: The rapid development and increasing affordability of various technologies are making PAAS a reality. These include:
• Remote Sensing: Satellite and drone-based imagery provide highresolution spatial data on crop health, soil moisture, and other critical parameters.
• Internet of Things (IoT) Sensors: Networks of sensors deployed in fields can continuously monitor local weather conditions, soil properties, and plant physiological parameters.

Introduction
The term “drug delivery systems” (DDSs) describes sophisticated dose forms that are utilized in the management of illness. The idea behind the design is to deliver the right quantity of medication to the diseased locations at the right time in order to maximize therapeutic efficacy while minimizing negative effects. The “3R” delivery principle—right dose, right place, and right time—is a concise way to describe it. Drug delivery technology can increase a candidate’s draggability while also enhancing the potency and safety of the medication. For example, liposomal drug delivery methods can be used to address issues with poor solubility and significant side toxicity in a variety of medications. The hazardous side effects of conventional chemotherapy medications can be greatly decreased by employing liposomal technology, which increases patient compliance (Andresen et al., 2004). Liposomes are the most widely used and researched nanocarrier for targeted medication delivery. They have improved therapies for a range of biomedical applications by stabilizing medicinal molecules, eliminating obstacles to cellular and tissue absorption, and boosting the biodistribution of compounds to specific locations in vivo. One or more concentric lipid bilayers enclosing discrete aqueous zones are described as the features of phospholipid vesicles, also known as liposomes. Due to the unique ability of liposomal systems to ensnape both lipophilic and hydrophilic molecules, a broad range of pharmaceuticals can be stored within these vesicles. Hydrophilic molecules may become trapped in the aqueous center of the bilayer membrane when hydrophobic molecules are introduced into it (Antohe et al., 2004).
There are many potentials uses for liposomes, and some recent reviews have offered useful details. In order to address the ongoing demand for the R&D of novel liposomal medications, significant efforts must be done. There are still some unanswered questions in this field. This article will summarize technological advancements, address issues, and explore the future of pharmaceutical liposomal delivery by focusing on three key areas: effective application, overcoming obstacles, and the move from idea to clinical application (Allen et al., 2013). Additionally, because of the large aqueous center and biocompatible lipid exterior, a variety of macromolecules, including as DNA, proteins, and imaging agents, can be administered.
Liposomes are a drug delivery technique that have several advantages, including biocompatibility, the capability to self-assemble, a large drug payload, and a range of physicochemical and biophysical properties that may be modified to control their biological features (Allen, 1994).
Among the features that characterize liposomal formulations and ascertain their durability in vitro and in vivo are particle size, charge, lamellar number, lipid content, and surface modification with polymers and ligands. Encapsulated compounds are protected from dilution, degradation, and early inactivation in the circulation by liposomes. Liposomes are generally believed to be low toxicity and pharmacologically inactive because they are frequently composed of phospholipids that occur naturally. But more and more studies are showing that liposomes are not as immunologically inactive as was once thought. Although liposomal formulations have demonstrated efficacy in vivo, their clinical translation has been gradual. The advancements, biological difficulties, biomedical uses, and translational barriers of liposomal technology will all be covered in this review (Dams et al., 2000).

Introduction
At the moment, liposomes, which are tiny bubble-like structures made of phospholipid bilayers, are an important part of all drug transport methods. Their unique ability to hold medicinal chemicals that both like and don’t like water is what makes them stand out. These molecules’ ability to change forms is very important for making different medicines more bioavailable, stable, and effective (Shah et al., 2020; Wagner and Vorauer-Uhl, 2011). Since Alec D. Bangham first found liposomes in the 1960s, they have gone from being simple experimental models to highly advanced carriers that are now used in both clinical and business settings. Liposome production has changed over time from simple lab methods to complex systems used on a commercial scale. At the moment, these methods can make liposomal formulations that are of high quality and consistently good traits (Alavi et al., 2022; Wagner et al., 2006). It is very important to know how to control the physicochemical qualities of liposomes during the manufacturing process. This includes things like size, charge, lamellarity, and how well they encapsulate (Mozafari et al., 2005; Watwe and Bellare, 1995). It is important to know the qualities of liposomes in order to figure out how they act in biological systems, like how fast drugs are released, how long they stay in circulation, and how they spread throughout the body. What method is used to make liposomal pharmaceutical compositions has a big effect on how safe and useful they are. Over the years, many methods have been developed to make liposomes with specific properties that are useful for their purpose (Sorgi and Huang, 1996; Patil and Jadhav, 2014). One of the first and easiest ways to make liposomes was through thin-film hydration. It was mostly used in places where study was being done. “Thin-film hydration” is the process of an organic liquid evaporating after lipids dissolve in it, which makes a thin film (Redziniak et al., 2017). After that, a watery phase is added to the film, which causes multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) to form. This method is easy to use and works well for smallscale applications, but it often creates liposome populations that aren’t all the same size or level of encapsulation. In order to get around these problems, methods like sonication and extrusion are used to make liposomes that are smaller and more uniform (Vemuri et al., 1990).
There is a method called “sonication” that can be used to efficiently change larger liposomes into smaller unilamellar vesicles (SUVs). The size of liposomes can be reduced very well with this method, which is known for being one of the first to do so. With this method, liposomes with diameters generally smaller than 100 nm can be made very efficiently. Because of this, these liposomes work well for many cellular purposes. Despite this, sonication could create heat and mechanical forces that could damage the structure of the liposome membrane or make it less stable for molecules that are particularly fragile. Improving the sonication settings is necessary to find the best balance between making the liposomes smaller while still protecting the inside parts (Liu and Meng, 2021).
An effective way to make liposomes with a precise and uniform size distribution is through extrusion. A pressure-based method can let liposomes pass through

Liposomal formulations constitute a distinctive category of nanomedicine platforms, showcasing potential applications in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics (Salave et al., 2024). Since their discovery, liposomes have attracted considerable interest because of their biocompatibility, ability to encapsulate both hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs, and potential to improve drug bioavailability while minimizing toxicity (Bangham, 1992; Dhayalan et al., 2024). The pharmaceutical industry is rapidly recognizing liposomes as effective drug delivery vehicles capable of changing pharmacokinetics, targeting particular tissues, and managing drug release. The unique properties of these vesicles, mainly made up of phospholipids and cholesterol, have created new opportunities for developing drugs that present difficult therapeutic indices (Wang et al., 2023). Nonetheless, the intricate architecture and functional diversity require comprehensive and advanced analytical evaluation, essential for maintaining quality, efficacy, and stability during the formulation’s lifecycle (Fan et al., 2021 a). The swift progress in liposomal drug development has resulted in a heightened need for strong analytical techniques. Establishing reliable, reproducible, and precise analytical methods is a crucial step in the formulation and commercialization of liposomal drugs (Khan et al., 2024). These methods must consider not only the physical and chemical stability but also the entrapment efficiency, particle size distribution, surface charge, and drug release kinetics, along with other essential characteristics. Considering that liposomal formulations consist of multiple components that interact dynamically, a thorough analytical approach is crucial. The complexity of ensuring quality and performance in liposomal products arises from the diverse physicochemical characteristics of liposomes, which can be affected by formulation composition, the encapsulated drug, and external environmental factors (Giordani et al., 2023).
The primary focus of liposomal characterization is the assessment of particle size and size distribution, as these factors have a direct impact on pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, and cellular uptake. Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) are widely used methods for assessing liposome size and distribution, offering important information regarding batch-to-batch consistency and formulation stability (Nadkarni et al., 2024). In 1961, Alec Bangham made a significant contribution to the field by introducing liposomes, which sparked a wave of research and development in this area (Bangham, 1992). Over time, liposomes have become incredibly versatile in their ability to transport drugs, biomolecules, and gene therapies. This groundbreaking approach has not only enhanced the effectiveness of treatments but also minimized side effects by precisely targeting specific sites within the body (Lai et al., 2024). Liposomes are vesicular structures composed of one or more concentric lipid bilayers that enclose an aqueous core. Hydrophilic drugs are commonly found within the aqueous compartments, whereas hydrophobic drugs are incorporated into the lipid bilayers. The innovative design of this architecture enables flexible drug encapsulation and precise delivery to specific targets. Liposomes have a wide range of applications in medical science, going beyond drug delivery to encompass diagnostics and vaccines. This versatility greatly enhances their value in the field (Gupta et al., 2023).
An important milestone in liposomal delivery technology occurred in 1995 with the approval of Doxil, which was the first-ever liposomal drug delivery system. Since then, there have been notable advancements in improving the physicochemical properties of liposomal formulations. Although there have been advancements in this field, it is important to remember that the core principles established during Doxil’s approval are still relevant for all liposomal delivery systems. These principles encompass the importance of stability, achieving optimal drug release kinetics, and ensuring biocompatibility and safety (Barenholz, 2012; Wang et al., 2022).
First and foremost, stability is of utmost importance. It is crucial to ensure that liposomal formulations remain intact throughout storage and administration in order to maintain the integrity of the drug and avoid problems such as leakage or degradation. The stability of liposomes can be affected by various factors, including the lipid composition, preparation method, and storage conditions. Ensuring stability necessitates the implementation of advanced manufacturing processes and rigorous quality control measures (Liu et al., 2022).
In addition, it is crucial to achieve the ideal drug release kinetics. Striking the perfect balance between sustained release and efficient delivery to the target site is crucial for optimizing therapeutic benefits and minimizing any potential adverse effects. Designing liposomes to release their payload in a controlled manner, customized to the pharmacokinetics of the encapsulated drug, is a crucial aspect of this process. Optimizing factors like liposome size, surface charge, and the inclusion of targeting ligands can greatly enhance the release profile (Pande, 2024).
Furthermore, ensuring biocompatibility and safety is of utmost importance. It is crucial to conduct comprehensive safety evaluations to ensure that liposomal systems do not trigger immune responses or lead to any adverse reactions. This chapter deals with data importing, exporting and data manipulations in R. R can import almost all kinds of data format. The basic data format of .txt and .csv and data from other softwares like MS office .xls and .xlsx, spss ……, stata ……., etc. however, we will discuss in this chapter to read and write the basic formats and the .xlsx data which we use the most. Further, we will also discuss the basic data manipulations. For a detailed reading on data manipulation, readers can refer to the first book of the series namely “Data Handling and Manipulation in R”.
2.1. Primary Spectral Data Processing
The original spectra consisting of relative reflectance values of 2151 points (at 1 nm interval) between 350 and 2500 nm were averaged at every tenth-nanometer wavelength interval from 360 to 2490 nm by integration technique. Thus, the new spectra contained reflectance values at 360, 370, 380, 2490 nm, are inclusive. For example, the new reflectance value for 360 nm represented an integrated value of the original reflectance values from 356 to 365 nm, inclusive. Similarly, the reflectance at 400 nm was an integrated reflectance values from 396 to 405 nm, while the reflectance at 2490 nm was an integrated value of reflectance from 2486 to 2495 nm. This was done to reduce the volume of data for analysis and to match it more closely to the spectral resolution of the instrument (3 to 10 nm). This procedure resulted in a new dataset, with reflectance values specified for 214 wavelengths for all samples, which were further processed for noise removal.
2.2. Importing Data in R
We can rerad many format of tabular data in R such as excel, text, csv, etc. In thid book we will be using the csv format. Before reading the data, arrange data in excel/CSV sheet so that spectral data in column is followed by chemical data/ lab data. This will ensure that if any soil property or properties added in next column there is no need to change code for selection of spectral data in R environment.

Introduction
Crop improvement is critical for tackling global food security challenges caused by population growth, resource scarcity, and climate change (Singha and Singha, 2024). Traditional breeding techniques, such as Sanger sequencing, have been around for a long, but their accuracy, speed, and usefulness are typically limited. Sanger sequencing is useful for small-scale inquiries, but its laborintensive procedures and limited throughput make it unsuitable for large-scale genome analysis. Molecular marker-based breeding strategies have proven to be effective tools for addressing these difficulties by increasing plant growth and overall quality (Bohar et al., 2020). In this respect, molecular markers like as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), insertions/deletions (indels), simple sequence repeats (SSRs), and structural variations (SVs) are expected to be useful for future breeding operations (Panahi et al., 2024). The discovery and characterization of these molecular markers is strongly reliant on advances in sequencing technology, namely next generation sequencing (NGS). Furthermore, NGS technologies have shown to be crucial for functional genomics, allowing for large-scale transcriptome and whole genome sequencing across plant taxa (Singh et al., 2024). These vast databases give a comprehensive picture of gene expression and genetic variation, making it easier to identify functional markers linked with certain features (Figure 1). The integration of NGS and bioinformatics technologies has simplified the study of these datasets, enabling more efficient discovery of markers and improving the use of marker-assisted selection (MAS) in breeding programs (Panahi et al., 2024).
The development of high-throughput genotyping technology has enabled substantial SNP-based research, which has improved our understanding of genetic diversity, population structure, and disease association (Yirgu et al., 2023). With the progress of genotyping by sequencing (GBS), SNPs have emerged as the most extensively utilized DNA markers in the twenty-first century (Thomson, 2014). SNP markers have significantly advanced plant breeding across a variety of crops, including tomato (Peterson et al., 2012), maize (Junta et al., 2020), rice (Razak et al., 2020), wheat (Wei et al., 2011), soybean (Kim et al., 2010), oil palm (Maryanto et al., 2020), cassava (Karim et al., 2020), and taro (Helmkampf et al., 2018). Overall, SNP markers have emerged as critical tools for genetic improvement and precision breeding across a wide range of crop species. Techniques such as SNP genotyping, DNA barcoding, and machine learning models are helpful in easily classifying and validating crop varieties. Farmers and breeders, for instance, will benefit from bioinformatics because it ensures genetic purity, improves genetic selection in crops, and provides more yields. It also incorporates bioinformatics tools that are revolutionizing plant breeding and conservation and allow the accurate identification of diverse highquality crop varieties for sustainable agriculture and food security (Derreper et al., 2011; Heo et al., 2024).
Crop variety identification has prime importance as per agriculture, food security, and conservation of biodiversity it maintains genetic purity for crops resulting in more yields with disease resistance and adaptability to climate. Correct identification will help farmer’s select superior seeds and maximize resources for increased productivity; further crop variety identification would participate in breeding programs ensuring superior crops varieties with desirable characteristics like drought tolerance, pest resistance, and better nutritional content. Accurate crop variety identification, in terms of food security, creates a steady supply of food through supporting continuous cultures of high-yielding and hardy varieties for the farm. Welfare in crop variety identification would help prevent fraud and misrepresentation in the food because they would be able to ensure that what customers receive is the type of crop they were looking for both in planned nutrition and costs. Facilitate seed certification schemes for protection of farmers from counterfeit seeds that would result in low yields.
Maintenance of genetic resources through proper identification of crop varieties ensures conservation of biodiversity. Crop variety identification and registration is a huge stroke towards conservation of wild and traditional crop species, which are very important for breeding and climate resilience. Such an event becomes important in climate change where genetic diversity ensures the abilities of crops to adapt to changing environmental conditions (Kim et al., 2021; Nguyen et al., 2025; Pavan et al., 2020).

1. Introduction
Global food insecurity is a prominent concern today, and this concern continues to haunt with exponential population growth, coupled with significant climate changes. The global population has increased at a rapid rate to around 8 billion in number which has led to a corresponding rise in food demand worldwide (UNFPA, 2023). Consequently, ensuring ample crop production has emerged as a primary objective for the entire world. According to World Bank (2023), an important strategy to bring down extreme poverty levels, fostering shared prosperity and providing sustainability for the expected population rise of 9.7 billion is agricultural development by 2050. Nevertheless, optimizing the productivity of a crop is never an easy task. Crop plants continuously face exposure to different abiotic and/or biotic factors, which retard growth and development processes ensuing their reduced productivity and diminished crop quality. Agricultural crops are vulnerable to biotic stresses such as bacteria, nematodes, fungi and herbivores. In addition to biotic factors, these challenges are further exacerbated by abiotic stresses like flooding/waterlogging, drought, temperature variations, soil salinity/alkalinity, heavy metals, nutrient deficiencies and CO2. They have a detrimental impact on crop at different stages of plant growth, ranging from entire plant to tissue and sub-cellular structures. Moreover, the abiotic stressors cause a direct impact on crops by inducing protein denaturation and aggregation, while also increasing the fluidity of membrane lipids (Kumari, 2022). According to Oshunsanya et al. (2019) major abiotic stresses i.e. extreme temperatures, drought, and nutrient deficiency/toxicity, contributes to significant annual crop yield losses ranging from 51-82% worldwide. On the other hand, yield penalties due to waterlogging merely is supposed to increase from 3–11% today to around 10–20% by 2080 (Liu et al., 2023). Daryanto et al. (2016) reviewed the published literatures from 1980-2015 and reported global yield reductions due to drought estimating around 21 % and 40%, respectively in wheat and maize.

Enzyme histochemistry constitutes a link between biochemistry and morphology (Hardonk et al., 1976) and provides important information complementary to conventional histology, immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology (Meier Ruge and Bruder 2008). It helps to detect any metabolic changes in tissues and thus can aid in disease diagnosis. It is based on the principal that, the substrates added to tissue are metabolized by enzyme and the reaction is visualized by an insoluble dye product. It is a very sensitive technique that detects even an early metabolic imbalance in the tissue. For example, alkaline phosphatase activity represents tissue barrier functions in brain capillaries, duodenal enterocyte and proximal kidney tubule brush borders and a decrease in enzyme activity will indicate some functional impairment. Similarly, an increase in lysosomal acid phosphatase activity is an early marker of ischemic tissue lesions and acetylcholinesterase enzyme histochemistry has been used for the diagnosis of Hirschsprung disease (Meier Ruge and Bruder, 2008). ATPase methods are used in combination to distinguish between type1 and type 2 muscle fibres and NADH diaphorase is used to detect very minor or early structural abnormality in the sarcoplasmic reticulum network of the fiber, as well as mitochondrial abnormalities eg. Mitochondrial myopathies (Sargaiyan and Bansal, 2014). It has been clearly shown that tumor tissue with high glycolytic activity is particularly resistant to radiotherapy (Mathupala et al., 2007). Enzyme histochemistry for dehydrogenase provides a quick, efficient and inexpensive orientation on the actual energy metabolism of a particular tumor and thus aid in therapeutic strategy (Nakagawa et al., 2002).

The sheep population in India is estimated to be about 65.07 million ranking second in the world (Anonymous, 2019). There are 42 descript breeds of sheep distributed in various agro climatic zones of the country (Anonymous, 2017). It is well-known that the sheep rearing provides nutritional security and insurance to the farmer at the time of crisis due to crop failure. Therefore, sheep is seen as, “finance elevator” by the countryside poor farmer (Sharif et al., 2011). Two major sources of income; meat and wool make sheep industry a very profitable enterprise. In addition, a rich source of nitrogen, phosphorus and potash present in the droppings of sheep improves the soil fertility. Indian sub-continent isa rich source of diverse ovine germ plasm.
The native breeds of sheep of from India are well adapted to geo-physical and agro-climatic conditions. Most of the breeds of sheep in India have evolved through natural selection. Most of the breeds have generally been named after their place of origin and on the basis of prominent characters. This vast ovine biodiversity in India is being eroded rapidly and more than 50% of sheep breeds are currently under threat.
Sheep biodiversity in India is characterized by high degree of endemism and variations in agro-climatic conditions of the different regions have led to the development of various breeds/strains. Selecting for breeding animals with superior EBV in growth rate, meat, milk, or wool production, or with other desirable traits has revolutionized livestock production through out the world.
Breeding means, the manner in which selected males and females are mated. The breeders identify and select desirable qualities in animals for future mating and discard less desirable qualities. For the improvement of livestock (farm animals) selection and breeding must be practiced simultaneously. Continuous selective breeding leads to homozygosity in a population resulting in loss of variability. If all the individuals are alike, the breeder cannot make progress in future. Hence, there is a need to create variability in population. This can be achieved by breeding. Therefore, selection and breeding go hand in hand for the improvement of livestock.

As Dunleavy, Margetts, Bastow, and Tinkler (2006, p. 216) perceptively observe: “Defining periods in the evolution of any complex system, such as public management systems in advanced industrial countries, is tricky. New developments accumulate while older trends are still playing out and flourishing. Relatively established ideas move from leading-edge countries or sectors to implementation in previous laggard areas, even as the same ideas are being repudiated or reversed in the erstwhile pioneering locations. Moreover, a confusing welter of changes goes on simultaneously, amongst which it is difficult to distinguish ephemeral and hyped-up innovations from those that are fundamental and longerlasting”. This observation aptly captures the administrative reforms’ non-linear and layered character in the digital era. For instance, the United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2022 places India 105th out of 193 countries, with notable improvements in the Online Services Index (OSI) and Human Capital Index (HCI), making it one of South Asia’s top digital governance performers despite a recalibrated drop in global ranking (UN DESA, 2022). In the Network Readiness Index (NRI) 2023, India stood at 65th among 134 countries, reflecting advancements in digital infrastructure, skills, and public digital platforms like Aadhaar and UPI (Portulans Institute, 2023). However, challenges persist, as highlighted by the ND-GAIN Index, which underscores India’s vulnerability due to digital inequality and climate-sensitive infrastructure (Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative, 2023). These performance indicators reflect a dual narrative: India is at the forefront of digital public innovation, yet its trajectory remains marred by barriers to inclusivity, last-mile service delivery, and institutional adaptability. The conceptual framework of digital governance in India encompasses key principles and mechanisms that collectively aim to bridge these gaps and foster a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Digital governance extends beyond mere e-Governance or ICT deployment; it refers to the strategic, integrated use of digital tools to transform governance models, improve service delivery, enhance transparency, and facilitate citizen

Natural product scaffolds and heterocyclic ring-based organic compounds are crucial for developing bioactive substances and therapeutic drugs, serving as essential structural units for bioactive molecules and pharmacophores. Numerous experts have worked hard to design and develop organic synthesis, which could make it easier to obtain these crucial organic chemicals. Due to the multistep reactions involving several hazardous chemicals, conventional organic synthesis is neither commercially feasible nor environmentally benign. To overcome these issues, improvisation or developing a new synthetic approach with a superior atom and step economic procedure is always desirable. The biggest challenge in organic synthesis is functionalizing a carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bond in a molecule. This is generally achieved through radical intermediates and catalysis by enzymes or transition metals. The transition metal-catalyzed process is the most popular due to its high chemoselectivity, site-selectivity, and efficiency (Yamaguchi et al., 2012). Inert C-H bonds can be directly functionalized, offering appealing synthetic strategies that enhance both atom and step economy and provide an overall efficiency of multistep synthetic sequences, leading to a sustainable and greener approach. These optimizations provide atom and step-economical methods for synthesizing structurally complicated organic molecules with broad substrate scope and good to exceptional product yields (Ackermann, 2011; Gensch et al., 2016). Direct conversion from the substrate to the desired organic compound without pre-functionalization is attractive and cost-effective. However, it can be quite challenging to selectively functionalize particular C-H bonds due to the inertness of those C-H bonds having similar electronic and bonding properties and the ubiquity of C-H bonds in organic molecules (Sambiagio et al., 2018). Two main techniques have been explored to obtain selectivity in C-H bond functionalization (Brückl et al., 2012). The first is based only on the natural reactivity pattern of an organic molecule. This strategy is highly successful for some heterocycles with at least one specific reactive site due to the presence of heteroatoms. However, it produces inadequate selectivity for most aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. The latter is to direct further functionalization at a particular site using directing groups already present in the molecule (Kuhl et al., 2012). The development of directing groups that effectively control the regioselectivity of C-H functionalization has lately transformed this field, enabling the incorporation of desired groups in unfunctionalized sites (Docherty et al., 2023; Labinger & Bercaw, 2002). Employing directing groups, various functional groups are added to a molecule using this method. Directing groups are crucial for breaking a C-H bond in a transition metal catalysis reaction, where the metal center in the active catalyst complex is usually coordinated with the substrate through a weak interaction with the nearby C-H bond. This interaction is typically not selective; thus, the metal centre may activate numerous C-H bonds on the substrate. However, when a directing group is incorporated into a substrate, the metal center can interact more strongly and regioselectively with a specific region on the substrate as directed by the directing group. Climate science and agricultural meteorology provide critical insights into the complex relationships between weather patterns, climate variability, and agricultural productivity. By incorporating these disciplines into farming practices, farmers can enhance crop yields, reduce climate-related risks, promote sustainable agriculture, and improve decision-making. Understanding weather patterns and climate trends enables farmers to optimize planting dates, irrigation schedules, and harvest times, leading to improved crop yields and reduced losses. Access to accurate and reliable climate information helps farmers anticipate and prepare for climaterelated disasters, minimizing damage to crops and livestock. Climate science and agricultural meteorology also inform farmers about the most effective strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water, and maintaining soil health. The integration of climate science, agricultural meteorology, and cutting-edge technologies is revolutionizing the agricultural sector. Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms analyze large datasets, including climate information, soil moisture levels, and crop health, to provide insights on optimal farming practices. Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and connected devices monitor weather patterns, soil conditions, and crop health in real-time, enabling farmers to respond promptly to changing conditions. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and spatial analysis help farmers understand the spatial distribution of climate-related risks and opportunities, informing decision-making at the farm level (Fig. 3.1).

Introduction 
Ergonomics is the science of adapting workplace conditions and job requirements to match the capabilities of the workforce. Its primary aim is to enhance comfort, improve health, and boost productivity in the work environment. To achieve these goals, ergonomics examines the interaction between workers and their tools, equipment, and furniture, ensuring they are aligned with the tasks being performed. It involves applying scientific knowledge about human behavior and physical needs to design objects, systems, and environments that promote efficiency and safety. Ergonomics is relevant to all activities involving people, including work systems, recreational pursuits, and health and safety measures. By focusing on the relationship between individuals and their work environments, ergonomics plays a crucial role in safeguarding both physical health and workplace safety. The foundation of good ergonomic practices lies in adapting tasks to suit the individual rather than forcing the individual to conform to the job. An ergonomically designed workplace incorporates tools and processes that accommodate workers’ physical abilities and limitations, reducing the risk of injuries and discomfort. The importance of ergonomics has grown as it highlights the connection between certain job activities and the risk of injury. The human body is not designed to remain in awkward or unnatural positions for extended periods without experiencing strain. Ergonomics helps identify harmful postures and movements and provides strategies to prevent associated pain and injuries. In office environments, ergonomic practices are essential for enhancing productivity. A well-designed ergonomic workplace can improve efficiency, boost employee morale, and contribute to overall worker well-being. The various environmental factors affect working people in one or the other way, it may be health, performance and comfort. However they are not independent because, although these aspects are considered independently but their effect likely to be combined. Although human beings are extremely adoptable but still they get affected of the ideal range of tolerance to environmental factors for comfort or for performance is very narrow. Expanding on the importance of understanding monsoons from a regional perspective, Chapter 4, “Regional Phenomena Exerting Influence on Monsoons in Different Regions,” takes a closer look at the unique fingerprints that specific geographical features and localized climate dynamics leave on these vital weather systems around the world. While Chapter 3 provided the grand narrative of globalscale influencers, this chapter delves into the intricate details of how monsoons are fine-tuned and often dramatically altered by the characteristics of the land and oceans they interact with on a regional level. Consider, for instance, the colossal impact of the Tibetan Plateau’s summer heating on the Indian Summer Monsoon. The intense solar radiation absorbed by this vast elevated landmass creates a powerful upper-level heat source, driving a strong low-pressure system that acts like a vacuum, pulling in the moistureladen winds from the Indian Ocean that deliver the life-sustaining rains to the subcontinent. Similarly, in North America, the development of the North American Monsoon Anticyclone, a large high-pressure system aloft, plays a crucial role in steering moisture from both the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico into the arid Southwest, transforming parched landscapes into vibrant green during the summer months. We will also explore phenomena like the Saharan Heat Low, a thermal low-pressure system over the vast desert that is instrumental in drawing in the rain-bearing southwesterly winds from the Atlantic Ocean to fuel the West African Monsoon, a lifeline for numerous nations. Furthermore, the chapter will examine the regional oceanic influence of the Indian Ocean Dipole and how the temperature differences between the western and eastern parts of the Indian Ocean can significantly modulate the strength and distribution of rainfall during the Indian monsoon and in neighboring regions. Through a series of regional case studies, this chapter will illuminate the diverse ways in which local geography, land surface characteristics, and regional atmospheric and oceanic circulations act as critical modifiers of global monsoon patterns. This detailed exploration underscores the necessity of understanding these regional nuances for accurate forecasting, effective water resource management, and the development of tailored strategies to cope with the inherent variability of monsoons in different parts of our planet.

Introduction 
Crop-weather models are sophisticated constructs, meticulously designed to replicate the dynamic and intricate interplay among atmospheric conditions, complex soil processes, nuanced plant physiology, and the decisive influence of human management interventions. The agricultural system is a prime example of a highly interconnected and non-linear system, where changes in one component can ripple through and affect many others, often with time lags and feedback loops. To truly comprehend, effectively design, rigorously develop, and clearly communicate the inner workings of such multifaceted simulations, relying solely on dense textual descriptions or abstract mathematical equations can prove daunting and often insufficient. This is precisely where relationship diagrams emerge as indispensable tools. At their core, relationship diagrams are powerful visual representations that translate the abstract scientific concepts and mathematical formulations embedded within crop-weather models into intuitive graphical formats. They are essentially the architectural blueprints and flowcharts of these complex systems, allowing us to see, rather than just read, how various components of the agricultural ecosystem interact. Imagine trying to understand the intricate wiring of a skyscraper or the precise movements of a symphony orchestra purely from a written description; diagrams provide the essential visual mapping that brings clarity and coherence to complexity. These diagrams are not mere aesthetic additions; they are fundamentally required because of the inherent complexity and interdisciplinary nature of crop modeling. They bridge critical gaps: Bridging Disciplinary Gaps: Agricultural system modeling brings together experts from diverse fields – agronomists who understand plant responses, meteorologists who provide weather insights, soil scientists who grasp soil physics and chemistry, and computer scientists who implement the models.

Introduction 
Castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) is a species of annual and perennial flowering plant in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae (USDA, 2016). It is the sole species in the monotypic genus, Ricinus, and subtribe, Ricininae. The evolution of castor and its relation to other species are currently being studied using modern genetic tools (Institute for Genome Sciences, 2009). Castor reproduces with a mixed pollination system that favors selfing by geitonogamy but can also be pollinated by wind (anemophily) or insects (entomophily) (Rizzardo et al.,2012). Native to the southeastern Mediterranean Basin, Eastern Africa, and India, castor is now widespread throughout tropical regions (Phillips & Rix, 2002). The plant is known for its seeds, which contain 40-60% oil, primarily composed of triglycerides such as ricinolein. However, the seeds also contain ricin, a watersoluble toxin present in lower concentrations throughout the plant. Ricinus communis exhibits significant variability in its growth habit and appearance, with cultivars selected for leaf and flower colours as well as oil production. Castor bean is a fast-growing shrub that can reach up to 12 meters in height, although it is not cold hardy. Its stems spherical, spiny seed capsules also vary in pigmentation. In some varieties, the fruit capsules are more attractive than the flowers. Ongoing research aims to better understand the plant’s evolution and its relationship to other species, while its unique characteristics and diverse uses make it an important subject of study. The monoecious castor plant bears unisexual male and female flowers in terminal panicle-like inflorescences (Fig :1). Male flowers are yellowish-green with creamy stamens, while fewer female flowers have prominent red stigmas (Oliver and Lee, 2010). The spiny capsule fruit contains large, oval, poisonous seeds with a caruncle that aids ant-mediated dispersal. Improving castor bean (Ricinus communis) cultivation for biodiesel production involves a combination of genetic, agronomic, and technological strategies aimed at enhancing yield, oil quality and sustainability. Genetic improvement focuses on developing high-yielding and disease-resistant varieties through traditional breeding, molecular techniques like marker-assisted selection (MAS), and advanced tools such as CRISPR-Cas9 for targeted gene editing. Efforts are directed at optimizing oil content, improving fatty acid profiles for biodiesel, and reducing toxins like ricin. Agronomic practices play a crucial role, including the adoption of efficient planting densities, intercropping systems, and soil and

6.1 Introduction
One of the various fusion welding techniques used to combine metals is arc welding. It melts and joins metals by producing a high temperature using an electric arc. An electric arc is created between a base metal and a consumable or non-consumable electrodede by a power source. The types of arc welding methods are listed below.

6.2 Gas Shield Tungstan arc Welding
An electric arc formed between a tungsten electrodede and the metal that needs to be joined starts the welding process. The arc melts the metal while protecting the weld from airborne impurities with a cloud of argon, helium gas, or carbon dioxide. A separate filler rod can be used to add additional filler metal. An inert gas, such as argon or helium, surrounds a non-consumable tungsten electrodede during the arc welding method known as tungsten inert gas welding (TIG). If more weld metal is needed, an additional filler rod can supply it. To prevent overheating and excessive erosion of the tungsten electrodede, a direct current is employed with the electrodede negatively charged.

3.1 Introduction 
The continuous rise in CO2 levels is poised to culminate in a profound global warming impact. Projections suggest that by 2030, CO2 levels could nearly triple, driven by the burgeoning population of motor vehicles. This pressing issue underscores the urgency for the current generation to scrutinize its fuel choices and explore alternative options. Biomass emerges as a pivotal contender, offering a trinity of fuel phases. Escalating petroleum prices and growing apprehensions about the role of fossil fuels in contributing to global warming have spurred a quest for biofuels, recognized for their environmentally friendly attributes. The worldwide energy consumption has increased by an astounding 4 to 5% due to the combination of industrialization and the growing human population. Energy insecurity presents a number of puzzles, including rapidly decreasing fossil fuel reserves due to rapid industrialization, skyrocketing gasoline prices, growing dependence on Middle Eastern oil supplies, and the deleterious effect of fossil fuels on greenhouse gas emissions. (Fig 3.1). Figure 1. Air pollution due to fossil fuel smoke from industries & transportation The UN's June 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro set the stage for addressing environmental issues such as acid rain and the greenhouse effect caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The goal of the Kyoto Protocol, an agreement between Russia, Japan, and Europe, is to reduce CO2 emissions. The ability of first-generation biofuels to lower CO2 emissions has drawn attention. But there is a lot of criticism about how they use land and how it affects the supply of food. A more complex option is provided by secondgeneration biofuels, which are made of leftover animal fat and lignocellulosic biomass. The third generation focuses on algae, namely single-celled organisms (SCO), as a viable substitute in the fuel industry. Within this discourse, "biofuels" refer to chemicals that are enhanced with energy. When burned, biofuels release fewer toxic emissions than fossil fuels, making them renewable resources. Furthermore, no carbon dioxide (CO2) is emitted into the environment by them; instead, any carbon released during combustion is absorbed by plants as they grow.

Introduction 
To fight climate change and lessen dependency on fossil fuels, the world urgently needs renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources. Hydrogen has become a promising energy carrier due to its versatility and capacity to generate energy from renewable resources without releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The world's demand for energy has been steadily increasing as a result of urbanization, economic expansion, and population rise. With an estimated 10 billion people on the earth by 2050, energy consumption is only expected to increase. Fossil fuels, which include oil, coal and gas have been widely used to generate energy and are predicted to do so at least until 2050 (see Fig.6.1) [1]. Figure 1. Global primary energy consumption is broken down by energy source [2, 3]. These fuels generate a large amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) during combustion, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), which is connected to climate change and global warming. In addition, burning fossil fuels releases particulate matter (PM), sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and other pollutants that are harmful for human health. In addition, the unequal distribution of fossil fuel supply has led to increased instability globally and worries about energy security. Numerous nations started making investments in energy from renewable sources as concerns about the environment and energy security have grown. Because they emit little to no greenhouse emissions, renewable energy resources like hydroelectricity, wind, and solar power contribute to lowering the energy industry's overall environmental impact (see Fig.6.2) [4].

Introduction 
Carbon rich solid residue named as biochar produced by heating biomass in a procedure recognized as pyrolysis. During pyrolysis, biomass, including crop and forestry residues, manure, municipal and industrial wastes, is broken down at temperatures exceeding 400°C, with minute to no oxygen present. This procedure results in the making of syngas, bio oil, and biochar. Given its high carbon content, approximately 60% to 90%, biochar addition in soil has been recommended as an effective, long-term method for capturing atmospheric CO2 within terrestrial ecosystems. In addition to its role in reducing greenhouse gas productions and carbon sequestration, biochar offers various advantages for soil quality enhancement. Incorporating biochar into soils can boost crop yields by improvising the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the soil, such as increasing water retention, adjusting soil pH, and enhancing microbial activity (Zoghlami and Paës, 2019). The production of biochar offer several benefits such as carbon sequestration in which produced biochar captures carbon that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere (Rahimi, Anand and Gautam, 2022). This helps mitigate climate change by locking carbon in a steady form for a lengthy period, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. When added to soil, biochar can enhance its physical, chemical, and biological properties. It improves water preservation, nutrient accessibility, and microbial activity, leading to increased soil fertility and crop yields (Saikia et al., 2015)perennial grass species Arundo donax L. was pyrolysed in a fixed-bed reactor and characterization was performed for the liquid and the solid products. The effect of process parameters such as temperature (350-650°C. Biochar production can utilize various types of organic waste materials, including agricultural residues, forestry waste, and certain municipal and industrial wastes. This reduces the burden on landfills and promotes waste recycling. The pyrolysis process used to create biochar can be designed to minimize emissions of harmful gases and particulates, thus contributing to air quality improvement. These byproducts can be used as sources of renewable energy, further reducing the carbon footprint. Biochar can improve soil aeration, reduce soil erosion, and help prevent nutrient leaching, which contributes to overall soil health and ecosystem stability as described in figure 9.1. It can remain in the soil for thousands of years, providing long-term carbon storage benefits. Biochar

Introduction
Understanding the concepts of technology transfer, licensing, and commercialization is crucial as it plays an important role in understanding how scientific discoveries leads to generation of new technologies further making them the impactful solutions that benefit industries and society. In the context of Indian HEIs, this especially important because a large volume of impactful research often remains underutilized due to limited commercialization channels. This chapter explains the terminology, essential components of technology transfer, outlines its significance for the innovation ecosystem. It also outlines the evolution of India’s technology transfer ecosystem, and emphasizes while understanding its potential to boost India’s economy, encourage entrepreneurship, and strengthen global competitiveness. From initial idea to a market-ready product is complex and multiphased process. The stepwise process is shown in Figure 1. It highlights a structured pathway consisting of five core phases: Idea/Concept, Technology development, Intellectual Property (IP) rights, Technology transfer, and Technology commercialisation.
Phase 1: Idea/Concept stage
This process of technology transfer starts with the Idea/Concept phase, where an invention is created. Each phase plays an important role in transforming raw scientific knowledge into innovative solutions that benefit society and generate economic value. In this phase breakthrough ideas emerge, within labs. Researchers explore and develop initial proof-of-concept or prototypes to validate their ideas. At this stage, the focus is primarily on knowledge creation rather than commercialization. This pathway of technology transition is summarized in Figure 1.

A TTO needs a planned budget of five years to sustain it in the long term. This involves budgeting the infrastructure, manpower, research, and outreach programs. The budgetary needs of a TTO will be based on the size and scope of the TTO and the maturity of the parent institution it caters to. The initial years will be focused on capacity development, the appointment of experts, and the establishment of processes of intellectual property management. The mature TTO will generate income through the returns of the licensing agreements and the collaborative efforts with the industry. Nevertheless, external funding through grants and government schemes plays a vital part, particularly in the initial years. The planned budget ensures long-term stability and development of the TTO.
9.1 Budgetary heads
9.1.1 Operational expenditure
Operational expenditure refers to the ongoing costs incurred by a TTO to maintain its day-to-day operations. This includes the cost of maintaining the office, including rent, power and utility bills, computer and network infrastructure, patent management cost, and administration charges. The filing and legal charges also fall within this category. The overheads will be a heavy burden if not planned with finances properly. A TTO has to be provided with a properly planned operational budget that covers the daily operational expenses. The operational expenses help the office perform effectively, sustain the employees, and effectively manage IP. The operational expenses that the budget normally covers include:

Technology transfer (TT) is entering a transformative phase shaped by globalization, digitization, and the growing role of start-ups in the innovation ecosystem. Traditional linear models of TT where inventions flowed from academic laboratories to industry through licensing are being replaced by dynamic, multi-directional, and collaborative frameworks. This chapter explores emerging trends that will define TT in the coming decades, including open innovation platforms, digital TT ecosystems powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, the rise of entrepreneurial start-ups and spin-offs, internationalization of TT through cross-border collaborations, and sector-specific shifts driven by 5G, biotechnology, drones, and green energy. Drawing from global and Indian contexts, the chapter highlights how universities, governments, and industries can leverage these trends to build inclusive, resilient, and sustainable innovation ecosystems.
Three global shifts which will redefine TT
1. Digitization of knowledge: With AI, big data, and blockchain, knowledge and IP can be shared, tracked, and commercialized faster and more transparently.
2. Entrepreneurial ecosystems: Start-ups, incubators, and accelerators are replacing traditional firms as vehicles of commercialization, particularly in deep-tech and frontier technologies.
3. Globalization of innovation: Challenges such as pandemics, climate change, and food security require cross-border TT collaborations, making TT an instrument of both economic and geopolitical significance.

Introduction 
The demand for alternative energy sources is on the rise as a result of global apprehensions regarding the swift exhaustion of fossil fuels, escalating energy usage, and significant environmental challenges (Lijó et al. 2019). Microalgae are regarded as highly favorable raw materials for upcoming energy sources, thanks to their various advantages, including rapid growth rates, elevated lipid contents and resistance to a variation of pH, temperature, light intensity, and salinity (Goswami et al. 2022; Zhang et al. 2022; Wang et al. 2019; Das et al. 2011). As per a recent evaluation of the lipid production efficiency of microalgae biomass, numerous nations could derive their transport fuel (~30%) from microalgae biomass grown on non-agricultural areas (Moody et al. 2014). Apart from their higher lipid production efficiency in contrast to earthly raw materials, microalgae consist of lipids, polysaccharides, pigments, proteins, and nucleic acids, making them versatile raw materials for a range of finalized outcomes, including nutrients, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, and bioplastics (Tang et al. 2020; Kim et al. 2016; Moody et al. 2014; Sharma et al. 2011). Additionally, microalgae are appealing for their efficient sequestration of CO2 during photosynthetic growth (Vargas-Estrada et al. 2020). In contrast to landbased oilseeds, microalgae can be cultivated in freshwater and contaminated or saline locations, eliminating the requirement for substantial nitrogen fertilizer application (Sharma et al. 2022; Rashid et al. 2019; Lam and Lee 2012). The positive attributes of microalgae as raw materials have prompted substantial research endeavours aimed at the commercialization of microalgal biofuels. Regrettably, microalgal biorefineries continue to encounter various technological and economic challenges (Khoo et al. 2020). In essence, nanotechnology involves the invention, creation, and utilization of resources at the nanoscale. Precisely, nanomaterials engineering explores the synthesis and designing of artificial or adorned nanoparticles to drive technological progress and enable applications that would otherwise be impractical. Nanomaterials possess surface areas hundreds of times greater than their weights, significantly enhancing their physico-chemical attributes (Husen and Siddiqi 2014; López-Serrano et al. 2014). Currently, nanotechnology-driven developments, with diverse potential features, have emerged as a burgeoning trend in various industries, including drug delivery, food industry, catalysis, coatings, agriculture, bioremediation, cosmetics, and materials science (Malik et al. 2023). Nanoparticle engineering offers practical and potential solutions to address the problems that arise at different phases of the microalgal biorefinery procedure. For instance, diverse nanomaterials have been proposed as ways to enhance transformation efficacy and the quality of green diesel. The distinctive capabilities of nanoscience and nanomaterial engineering exert a substantial impact on the commercial feasibility of microalgae derived products, including bioactive compounds, oils, lipids, and biofuels (Kumar et al. 2020; Milano et al. 2016). Nanoparticles have the capacity to boost intracellular fatty acid synthesis and complete microalgal biomass, leading to substantial reductions in production expenses. The presence of nanomaterials enhances the efficiency and speed of the microalgae harvesting, and the recoverability and reusability of these materials contribute to improved production efficiency.

1. Background
The growing global population, industrialization, and urbanization have driven rising energy demand, with primary energy use increasing by 5.8% in 2024 (BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2024). The need for secure, affordable, and low-carbon energy is critical due to fossil fuel depletion, global warming, and geopolitical tensions. Clean energy sources like solar, wind, and biofuels are being explored, with biodiesel standing out as the only biofuel capable of fully replacing fossil fuels (Aizouq et al., 2020). Many countries, including India and China, are advancing biofuel production, with the latter viewing it as a key to energy security. Biofuels, derived from various sources like algae, crops, and waste, include biodiesel, bioethanol, and biogas. They are categorized into four generations based on feedstock. First-generation biofuels, made from edible materials, face food vs. fuel competition. Second-generation biofuels from non-edible sources are more sustainable but still face resource limitations (Lv et al., 2019). Thirdand fourth-generation biofuels from microalgae offer higher yields and better land use, with species like Chlorella vulgaris and Nannochloropsis oceanica showing promise for biodiesel production. Microalgae’s fast growth and efficiency have led to advances in biodiesel production, although challenges remain, such as species selection and production scale-up (Arora et al., 2021). But there is a constraint for commercial availability of these biofuel which are the economic and environmental obstacles that are creating problematic condition for approval and use of genetically engineered microalgae for their potential to enhance lipid yields. This chapter delves into the current opportunities and challenges in microalgae biofuel production, focusing the need for regular research and innovation (Maliha and Abu-Hijleh 2022).
2. Choosing the Different Classes Of Microalgal Strains
The achievement of huge-scale microalgal culture relies on picking appropriate species. The production of various lipids greatly affects the selection of strains and biofuel properties. For the biodiesel, Triacylglycerol (TAG) is the preferred lipid but compared to green algae its content is typically low in cyanobacteria. with the average lipid content of 25.5%, green algae (Chlorophyceae) stand as the largest class of oleaginous microalgae, which can rise under nutrient stress (Saini et al., 2021). Also, the biomass productivity is equally important for high lipid productivity as high lipid content is beneficial. For biodiesel production, strain selection should focus on both lipid content and biomass. Chromochloris zofingiensis shows the highest lipid productivity among all classes of green algae. The saturated (SFA) and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) fatty acid (FA) being dominant, their composition also plays a vital role in biodiesel quality. It has seen those high levels of C16:0 and C18:1 in microalgae is ideal for biodiesel production (Bharti et al., 2021). Therefore, for improved biodiesel performance, strain selection should consider both lipid productivity and FA composition (Bagchi and Mallick, 2016).

1.1 Definition of Smart Energy Management (SEM)
Smart Energy Management is a smart practice that utilizes evolved and improved technologies for the analysis and enhancement of the energy systems in real-time. The main aim is to make energy production, distribution, and consumption more profi cient, affordable, and sustainable. SEM also focusses on minimizing the waste generated and environmental effects (Kataki et al., 2017). By the combination of advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artifi cial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), optimization and transformation of bioenergy systems can be effectively achieved. This technology can also be used to monitor and control the bioenergy systems actively so as to complement the prerequisite of the implementation and operations in bioenergy plants successfully (Syed, 2024). The era of increased need for the renewable sources and alarming issues of climate alteration calls for the innovative energy management (Jones, 2017). It emphasizes the demand for SEM in bioenergy systems ensuring the production of sustainable, eco-compatible and structures bioenergy system. This chapter foreground the top causes for which SEM to be more vital for the future bioenergy prospects.SEM enables real-time monitoring and optimization which allows bioenergy plants and their production of energy according to the demand, weather conditions and availability of the feedstock (Swami et al., 2023). SEM also generates the way to regulate bioenergy systems to facilitate the cost, performance, and energy conversion efficacy by utilising sensors, statistics and cloud computing (Fig 1). The integration of SEM with bioenergy is specifically relevant because of the variable and complicated nature of biomass feedstocks which include forest and agricultural residues, and food waste (Rodrigues et al., 2022, Duca and Tascano, 2022). The variations such as, moisture, quality and energy density show the effect on the efficiency in the production of bioenergy. Smart technologies are used to monitor as well as optimize the energy production along with the real-time fluctuations in response to the demand, feedstock availability and its supply (Hao et al., 2022)
1.2 AI (Artificial Intelligence) ML (Machine Learning) and IoT
There are two major emerging technologies named AI and ML which have transformed SEM for bioenergy systems. These technologies ease predictive analytics, decision making and enhanced simple processes. By analysing the massive datasets gathered from bioenergy operations, AI systems are able to forecast future energy output, system efficacy and operational damage (Saju et al., 2025). Utilizing real-time data feed such as pH range, composition of feedstock, temperature etc, AI systems incorporated with bioenergy plants can forecast biogas generation in and anaerobic digestion system (Barasa, 2021). Algorithms of ML in SEM helps in analysing and enhancing decision making process by both live and historical data. It predicts the forecast pattern in energy output and modify the operational parameters. Consequently, through a continuous learning process over time, the forecast prediction and bioenergy system are becoming more and more efficient (Khan et al., 2022). Bioenergy systems such as feedstock transport, conversion processes, and energy distribution can have real-time data which are collected by IoT technologies, constituting sensors, actuators and other connected devices (Ahuja and Khosla, 2019; Wang et al., 2022). Intelligent energy management systems utilizing IoT and AI technologies can greatly improve the efficiency of energy distribution and use, contributing to more sustainable urban environments. According to Liew et al., 2021, sensors are the source of valuable insights for the operation of bioenergy because it helps the operators in make decisions about system performance and efficiency and gain a better knowledge of the system functions. Sensors are installed in bioenergy facilities to provide continuous monitoring of information such as temperature, moisture content, pressure, and gas composition using IoT. Figure 2 depicts the significance of AI, IoT and ML in renewable energy.

The importance of climate change, sustainable development, environmental concerns, and energy needs are gaining attention more than ever. The conventional energy procedures, such as solely dependent on fossil fuels are ended with greenhouse emissions, contributing to pollution and deficiency in natural resources. To overcome these straits, bioenergy has become the sustainable and promising alternative, also offering the declining nature of dependency on non-renewable resources and parallelly providing cleaner energy options (Khalid, 2024). Mere the production of bioenergy is insufficient to address the huge energy needs of the current situation. If sustainability is to be ensured means, then effective energy management is to be ensured. The newly developed smart energy management systems improve energy production, distribution, and consumption by utilizing cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Smart energy management is a notion that limelight on lifting the reliability and efficiency of energy systems. With the usage of current technologies, smart energy systems can audit real-time energy use, and energy demands and manipulate the power distribution accordingly. This required to improvising the potential of renewable energy (Hossain et al., 2024). Energy recovery is defined as the reusing of energy, that has the possibility to get waste in the following forms, heat, waste materials, gas and so on. In the bioenergy industry organic waste is converted into a suitable form of energy, which gives hybrid benefits like waste reduction and energy generation. Furthermore, a highly resilient and efficient energy system that meets sustainable development goals can be created by combining these recovery systems with intelligent energy management tools (Mariana et al., 2021). The investigation of how energy recovery technologies and intelligent energy management can improve the efficiency and sustainability of bioenergy systems is covered in this chapter. The potential of smart energy solutions to meet the increasing need for sustainable and renewable energy sources will be highlighted in this research through a thorough analysis of case studies, emerging trends, and existing technologies. A roadmap for the future of bioenergy will be provided, together with an identification of the main obstacles and possibilities that players in this quickly changing industry must contend with (Naeem, et al., 2024).

1. Introduction: Setting the Stage for GLP in Artificial Insemination
Artificial Insemination (AI) stands as a cornerstone technology in modern animal agriculture, playing a pivotal role in the genetic enhancement of livestock across a diverse range of species. This technique, particularly prevalent in cattle and swine, allows for the widespread dissemination of superior genetic traits from carefully selected sires, leading to significant improvements in productivity, such as increased milk yield in dairy cattle and enhanced growth rates in beef cattle. Beyond genetic advancement, AI offers considerable advantages in disease management by mitigating the risks associated with natural mating, thereby controlling the transmission of reproductive tract infections. Furthermore, AI provides economic benefits to livestock producers by reducing the need to maintain live bulls, which require substantial resources, and by offering access to a broader spectrum of genetics than would be feasible through natural service alone. The application of AI is not limited to traditional livestock; it is increasingly employed in the breeding of horses and smaller ruminants, as well as in the management of pet populations, indicating its growing importance in animal reproduction across various sectors. The expanding scope of AI underscores the necessity for robust quality control measures to ensure its efficacy and safety across different animal species and production systems. The success of any AI program is intrinsically linked to the quality of the semen used, making the operational standards of AI laboratories paramount. Optimal conception rates rely on semen with high viability, motility, and morphological integrity, which can be compromised by inadequate handling and unsanitary 130 Concepts of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) conditions during collection, processing, storage, and insemination. Poor semen management can lead to reduced fertility and the potential spread of diseases, thereby undermining the benefits of AI. To ensure consistent and successful outcomes, standardized procedures throughout the AI process are essential, providing a framework for optimizing techniques and minimizing the risk of errors. In this context, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) emerges as a critical quality paradigm. Defined as a managerial quality control system, GLP encompasses the organizational processes and the conditions under which non-clinical health and environmental safety studies are planned, performed, monitored, recorded, archived, and reported. While traditionally applied to the safety testing of chemicals and pharmaceuticals, the core principles of GLP, with their emphasis on systematic processes, controlled conditions, and rigorous data management, hold significant relevance for ensuring the quality and reliability of operations within animal AI laboratories. The genesis of GLP regulations in response to concerns about the integrity and consistency of scientific data further underscores its fundamental importance in any laboratory setting where the trustworthiness of results is paramount. This report aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the GLP paradigm within the context of animal AI laboratories. Its objectives include defining GLP and its core principles, investigating the specific application of these principles in the various stages of animal AI, exploring the benefits and challenges associated with GLP implementation, reviewing relevant regulatory guidelines and standards across different regions, analyzing the impact of GLP adherence on AI techniques and outcomes, identifying effective data representation strategies, comparing the operational differences between GLP and non-GLP compliant laboratories, and discussing emerging trends and future perspectives on the role of GLP in advancing the field.

Introduction 
The Pleurotus species, belongs of the basidiomycetes class, are typically grown on non-composted lignocellulose substrates and have a shorter growth cycle compared to other types of mushrooms (Bellettini et al., 2018). These are shell-like fruiting bodies commonly known as “oyster mushroom” and also referred as “Dhingri mushroom” in India. The fanor spatula-shaped fruit body can be found in various colours depending on the species, including white, pink, yellow, grey, and blue (Verma et al., 2023). Their cultivation is popular due to the simple and low-cost methods. These mushrooms are highly favored not only for their taste, flavor, and pleasing texture but also for their nutritional and medicinal benefits (Sharma and Khanna 2019, Sarita et al., 2023). Pleurotus sp. are found naturally in both temperate and tropical regions across the globe which are cultivated more widely around the world due to their adaptable nature (Badshah et al., 2021). Despite their potential, India’s mushroom production has declined significantly, from 487 million MT in 2017 to 314.84 million MT in 2023 (Anonymous, 2023). Mushroom farming in Gujarat presents several opportunities due to various factors such as favorable climatic conditions, easy availability of raw material increasing market demand and supportive government initiatives. In India, rice straw is 80 Innovations of University Extension in Indian Agriculture mainly used as substrate for large scale mushroom production (Kundu et al., 2022). But, cultivation and consumption of mushroom were limited due to lack of awareness about the health benefits of this high valued food. However, by the efforts of KVKs under Agricultural Universities through the trainings and awareness programs, mushroom cultivation becomes popular among the people of Gujarat particularly in rural areas. Entrepreneurs and farmers can tap into this growing sector for profitable ventures, provided they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources.

Bidar started in the year 2005 exclusively for the development of education and learning; conduct of research and extension education and transfer of rural oriented technologies in the areas of Veterinary, Animal, Dairy and Fisheries Sciences in Karnataka. The logo of the University is inscribed with the slogan “Farmers Friendly and Rural Oriented”, which emphasizes the importance given to betterment of farming community. The mission of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar, is to strive hard and provide leadership in teaching, research and extension education services related to Veterinary and Animal sciences, Dairy sciences, Fisheries and other allied sciences. The University endeavor is to keep pace with new frontiers of science and contemporary developments to be socially and technically relevant. In this context, KVAFSU is strongly committed in absorbing newer paradigms and using them to develop excellent human resource, innovative technologies and their dissemination so as to serve the livestock and fishery farming community of the state and the country. Various extension educational activities are undertaken by the university at various levels, viz., Extension Education, Extension Research, Extension Work and Extension Service. Collaborative activities are being planned and implemented in association with various stakeholders like Farmers, Farmers’ organizations, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Karnataka Milk Federation, etc. Besides conducting routine extension activities like trainings, demonstrations, animal health camps, field trips, field tours, campaigns, livestock shows etc., KVAFSU has come out with some innovative approaches in extension education. Which are presented in this book chapter. Extension activities are undertaken mainly under two categories, i.e. university / college activities and collaborative / sponsored activities.

India, a predominantly agrarian nation, relies heavily on agriculture for livelihoods. Over the decades, agricultural policies have focused on increasing the supply and accessibility of staple grains. This strategy has successfully reduced hunger and transformed the country’s food system (Pingali et al., 2019). At the forefront of this transformation stands Punjab that played a pivotal role in moving India from a food scarcity to self-sufficiency. Punjab’s agricultural success is globally recognized, driven by the rapid technology adoption, enabled through synergy of infrastructure, incentives and most critically, information (Singh & Kohli, 1997). Among these drivers, dissemination through agricultural extension proved instrumental in ensuring that innovations such as high-yielding variety (HYV) seeds, irrigation facilities and market incentives reached farmers effectively. While various factors contributed to Punjab’s growth, but agricultural extension remains a cornerstone, translating research breakthroughs into fieldlevel impact. Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been a key catalyst in this journey. while serving as a premier institution in agricultural research, education, and extension. PAU’s extension system has evolved in response to shifting agricultural needs, environmental challenges, and technological advancements. Beginning in 1960s, PAU led the Green Revolution by introducing HYVs and modern agricultural inputs through a dedicated, farmer-focused extension network (Gulati et al., 2018). In its early decades, PAU’s extension services emphasized increasing productivity through mechanization and the use of fertilizers and pesticides. Initiatives such as Kisan Melas (Farmers’ Fairs) and Kisan Clubs’ facilitated knowledge transfer to rural communities, fostering large-scale adoption of new technologies. However, by the late 1980s, concerns such as soil degradation and pest resistance prompted a strategic pivot. The PAU approach shifted from purely productivity-focused methods to more sustainable and diversified practices such as Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), integrated weed management (IWM) Integrated Pest Management (IPM), water conservation, etc. Today, PAU continues to modernize its extension practices through participatory, farmer-centric approaches. The current emphasis lies in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, adaptability and sustainability through a blend of traditional outreach and modern ICT tools. Infection prevention and control refers to prevention and control of infections and their transmission in healthcare settings. Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) are one of the most common adverse events in delivery of care and a major public health problem with an impact on morbidity, mortality and quality of life. Up to 7% of patients in developed and 10% in developing countries acquire at least one HAI. These infections also present a significant economic burden for the health system.1It is evident that HAIs result in prolonged hospital stays, long-term disability, increased resistance of microorganisms to antimicrobials, additional cost on health systems, high cost for patients and their family, and preventable deaths.
