Introduction

Smart farming focuses on retrieving data and using it in developing farming systems in a smart way that will yield better results. Such real time data can be readily accessed by the farmers through smart phones or tablets which will help them to take wise decisions at the right time. It helps in managing farms using technologies like IoT, robotics, drones and AI to increase the quantity and quality of products while optimizing the human labor required by production. Digital farming goes a step further and creates value from data. Integrating the concept of precision and smart farming, digital farming can be explained as “consistent application of the methods of precision farming and smart farming, internal and external networking of the farm and use of web-based data platforms together with Big Data analysis” (A paper on Digital Agriculture, 2018). Though such technologies are highly attractive and worth investing, they are also accompanied by uncertainty and trade – offs. Education, training, dissemination of information, finance and marketing are some of the major factors that would drive the farmers towards adoption of sustainable farming technologies (Grand View Research, 2019).

Ultrasonography is the process of obtaining images of an area, organ or tissue with the help of ultrasound beam that can be displayed on a screen. Such images can be recorded on videocassettes or printed on a thermal paper. Ultrasonography in veterinary practice is a revolutionary step for diagnosis of various ailments and to assess normal physiological functions of the body organs of domestic animals. Ultrasonography is considered a wonderful tool particularly for the study of reproductive functions viz. follicular dynamics, pregnancy diagnosis and abnormalities of contents of tubular tract. In 1980, Palmer and Driancourt reported for the first time, real time ultrasonography for diagnosis of pregnancy in the mare. This report generated considerable interest among veterinarians and scientists about ultrasonography and this new discovery contributed significantly towards understanding of functioning of the uterus and ovaries of mare (Chevalier and Palmer, 1982; Ginther, 1983; Ginther and Pierson, 1984a & 1984b), cows (Pierson and Ginther, 1988, Reeves et al., 1984) and other species (Buckrell, 1988; Driancourt, 1991). The ultrasonography is fast replacing the age-old procedure of rectal palpation of genital tract for pregnancy diagnosis (Pieterse et al., 1990). This technique has been used and advocated for the use in the academics and field practice.

Biodynamic farming is a holistic agricultural system that emphasizes the interrelationship between soil, plants, animals, and cosmic forces. A cornerstone of this practice is the use of biodynamic preparations, which are specialized herbal and mineral formulations applied to the soil, compost, and plants to enhance their health and vitality. This article delves into the origins, development, and specific types of biodynamic preparations, including their ingredients, preparation methods, and application techniques. By exploring both the scientific and spiritual dimensions of these preparations, the article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of their role in biodynamic farming. It also examines the empirical evidence supporting their efficacy, addresses common criticisms, and discusses future research directions.

In the contemporary digital era, the agriculture sector is making use of the revolutionary power of internet marketing. As technology develops, farmers and agricultural businesses are implementing digital tools and strategies to enhance their marketing campaigns. The wider digital revolution of India’s agriculture sector depends on digital marketing. Since it employs and supports a sizable section of the population, India’s agriculture sector is essential to the country’s economy. The marketing and sales of agricultural products have rapidly changed since the transformation of digital technologies. Managing the customer experience in digital marketing for agricultural products in India poses several challenges. Aquatic weeds are those unwanted and undesirable plants, which reproduce and grow in fast in water bodies. They are more harmful them beneficial for fish culture. Excessive growth of aquatic vegetation prevents effective utilisation of water and reduces productivity because they utilize the nutrients and also prevent the sunlight to read the deep part of the water body. This excessive growth restrict the living space of fishes, resulting into less production. The decay mass of these pollute weeds prevent the growth of more useful microorganisms. And disturb the food web and food chain and equilibrium of physico-chemical qualities of water. Liberation of toxic substance and waste decomposition of water body is most effective so it is necessary to identify and control them. It has the primary problem of management of Inland fishery cultures.

Aquatic plants grow on extremely wet soil and where water is available to plants in abundance such as ponds lanes river banks etc. or those plants which grows and found in the nearby water body or in water body. These plants are called as aquatic weeds because these are not attend the larger size and act as the weeds which is found in water so these are called as aquatic weeds.

Regulations should make it easier to utilise creative, long-lasting solutions, allowing for the selection of the most environmentally friendly pest management method. This can be accomplished by using expedited registration, priority registration, and a combination of comparative evaluation of pest control techniques and the substitution principle, which allows a natural pest control technique to take the place of a synthetic pesticide.

Pig Nutrition

Proper feed is necessary for development, body maintenance, and the production of meat and milk. When correctly prepared, one can use less expensive locally available feeds that are nutritionally sufficient. Pigs can be fed effectively with leftovers from a family’s kitchen. Pig nutritional needs can be divided into six sections. Examples include water, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals.

Pigs are omnivorous, which means they can consume both meat and plants. Pigs’ digestive systems can also manage roughage-rich diets. Pig must drink plenty of clean, fresh water every day. Pigs will consume practically anything. They will consume grass and other plants. They can be kept in a safe field where they will consume all vegetation and grass. The pig will burrow into the ground and consume both the roots and the green parts of plants. A pig with a nose ring cannot root plants. Pigs will develop and fatten more quickly if fed concentrate feed. Grain meal that has been thoroughly pulverised is a good feed for pig.

Pigs can also be fed leftover veggies and scraps from the kitchen. Before feeding scraps to the pig, household scraps, especially those containing meat, must be well prepared. The pig requires constant access to fresh, clean water. Each day, a sow with young requires 20 to 30 litres of water.

Principle of Operation: Centrifugal pumps are the most common type used in irrigation. They work by converting mechanical energy into kinetic energy in the form of fluid flow. Water enters the pump through the center (eye) of a rotating impeller and is accelerated outward.

Introduction

Resistance to disease in a host plants is a condition in which the plant conquer the pathogen’s attack and thus suffers small or no injury. Resistant hosts prevent or slow the development and reproduction of the majority of pathogen propagules that they come into contact with. Different plants defend themselves in different ways. Each kind of plant, probably, employs different defense mechanism against each of the pathogens that attack it. The defense barriers erected by plants are a co-ordinated system of molecular, cellular and tissue-based responses to pathogen attack.

Introduction

Water is a prominent element in the daily life of human beings as well as in agriculture. In better crop production, the quantity of water, but the quality of water is also important. With respect to the current scenario of water harvesting or water conservation there are some techniques adopted in Indian agricultural practices, such as the use of drip irrigation to minimise water surplus, rain fed agricultural practices, storing rain water in different storage components, using mulching (either natural or plastic), proper tillage practices, selecting crops which need less amount of water, using laser leveller for better water uses to encounter surplus water flow to the lower elevated portion of the field etc. Water conservation techniques and measures are directly related to the type of meteorological factors of specific watershed. For the arid and semi arid regions proper method of tillage practice improves water use while in conventional practices of farming consumes more than required water quantity. Some crops are water-intensive where the quantity of the available water is crucial. Sources of water can be ground water, rain water and irrigation water. In sustainable crop production, the right amount of water is necessary for the optimal physiological growth of specific crops. Although the availability of water depends upon the geographical location, for example in the Gangetic plains of India there is less need for water conservation agricultural purposes. On the other, in the region of Deccan Plateau of India, availability of water is comparatively lower than in the Gangetic plains. It is also important that water conservation techniques can be adopted irrespective of the geographical locations. Water is conserved in nature itself but the availability of water depends on the hydrological cycle. Therefore, conservation has become a trending topic. Water conservation can be improved through sustainable agricultural practices such as proper scheduling of irrigation, selection of crops based on sustainability, monitoring soil moisture content, maintaining records of crop growth and physio-chemical data, implementing effective drainage systems, intercropping operations and utilising recycled water for other purposes.

Agricultural marketing in India enables the producers and the consumers to have a direct contact to buy and sell their products. But it is crucial to have a clear understanding on the consumer’s perceptions and preferences for the products who are the ultimate users as a better marketing strategy. The present marketing methods are much different from traditional ones, and can be even transformed by the use of data analytics, cutting-edge technologies, and data-driven insights by the Agri-marketers to perceive and interact with consumers. The success of a firm/business is greatly influenced by consumer perception and it is shaped by a number of elements, such as marketing initiatives, customer service, and product quality. Therefore, to have a positive perception of the consumers on the products, one should focus on the ideology and the working of their perceptions which helps to design and brand their products accordingly. The Indian agricultural marketing system is facing a wide range of issues, that prevents it from going global due to its in competitiveness in the export activities. Its high time to focus on innovative policies and strategies that support for the economic growth and the enhanced livelihoods of the various stakeholders in this system.

Loose flowers occupy an important position in Indian floriculture because of their extensive use in garlands, Veni, Rangoli, worship, festivals, weddings, decoration and perfumery. Crops such as marigold, jasmine, chrysanthemum, tuberose, rose, crossandra and gomphrena provide livelihood opportunities for small and marginal farmers and rural workers. This chapter discusses the cultural, economic and employment significance of loose flowers, along with value-addition opportunities in essential oils, natural pigments, floral waters, cosmetics and food products. It also examines the national and international scenario, production constraints, postharvest challenges, market opportunities, emerging technologies and prospects for entrepreneurship in the loose flower sector.

Abstract

The genetic divergence among 249 germplasm lines of maize was assessed by D2statistics based on nine parameters at Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar. The germplasm lines were grouped into eleven clusters. Clusters I and II were the largest clusters with 73 and 79 genotypes, respectively. The highest inter cluster distance was observed between cluster X and XI followed by cluster V and XI indicating more variability in the genetic makeup of inbreds included in these clusters. Cluster V showed highest mean values for grain yield/plant and ear length. Cluster XI had the lowest mean values for plant height and ear height and these two characters showed maximum contribution towards total divergence among different characters. Based on inter cluster distances, inter crossing among the genotypes belonging to cluster V, IX, X and XI has the chance of getting high yielding hybrids with higher heterosis.

Green is the ‘innovative’ word that has now evolved to become the soul of every market. This revolution has given a rise for the different kind of green activities in the normal course of life, be it personal or professional. Companies are trying to adopt green in their business activities, be it production; product; services; or packaging, consumers are also not behind for the perseverance of environment and natural resources. Consumers are day by day becoming more aware towards environmental issues, purchasing eco-friendly products, and adopting a green lifestyle. This paper examines the growing awareness of consumer towards green initiatives, products, campaigns run by the companies, and their attitude, and purchase intentions for the same. Therefore, the purpose of this research paper revolves around describing the present state of green activities in business era, and to know the awareness and attitude of consumer in Jodhpur city. 

Abstract

Vitamin D or “sunshine vitamin” is an essential fat soluble vitamin required for healthy bones. It is responsible for enhancing intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. Its deficiency leads to osteoporosis and osteomalacia in adults and rickets and other bone deformities in children. Vitamin D deficiency is being reported to be quite common these days due to modernization accompanied with changes in lifestyle and environmental pollution which limit sun exposure for several individuals. Inadequate sun exposure results in reduced vitamin D synthesis and ultimately poor vitamin D status necessitating compensation through dietary intake. Dietary vitamin D intake is very low in India because of low consumption of vitamin D rich foods, absence of fortification and little use of supplements. It is becoming a major public health problem, needing immediate attention. Fortification of milk and milk products is the safe and effective approach to deal with widespread vitamin D deficiency as milk is consumed and liked equally by all age groups. This paper highlights the importance, sources, recommended allowances and other relevant issues related to vitamin D fortification and its health effects.

Reliable predictions empower farmers, policymakers, and agricultural stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation, risk management, and adaptation strategies (Lobell et al., 2012; FAO, 2019). This chapter explores the intricate interplay between weather variability, climate change, and the development of effective crop yield forecasting models, offering a comprehensive perspective on how sustainable agriculture can be achieved in the midst of these dynamic environmental shifts.

Central to this practice are planting calendars and guides, which help farmers align their activities with cosmic rhythms. Additionally, cropping systems in biodynamic farming are designed to optimize resource use, improve soil fertility, and promote ecological balance. This article explores the principles and practical applications of planting calendars and guides in biodynamic farming, examines various cropping systems employed in biodynamic agriculture, and discusses their impact on farm management and sustainability. By understanding these elements, farmers can effectively incorporate biodynamic practices into their agricultural systems, contributing to more resilient and productive farming operations.

Abstract
Fish, a vital source of nutrition globally, faces challenges in maintaining microbiological safety and sensory quality due to its perishable nature. While effective in microbial reduction, traditional thermal processing methods often compromise fish’s nutritional and sensory attributes. In response, non-thermal technologies such as High Pressure Processing (HPP), Ultrasound (US), Ozone, and Pulsed Light (PL) have emerged as promising alternatives. These technologies offer effective microbial control while preserving the sensory and nutritional integrity of fish products. Ultrasound processing, has shown efficacy in microbial inactivation and quality enhancement without significant thermal impact. Studies on oily and white fish varieties demonstrate its capability to reduce microbial load while enhancing specific sensory attributes. In the same way, Ozone, which is known for its durable oxidative qualities, is useful in eliminating a wide range of bacteria on fish surfaces, although it must be taken into account when considering penetration depth and any sensory effects. Pulsed Light (PL) has shown quick microbial inactivation on fish surfaces and packaging materials by using high-intensity, short-duration pulses over a wide spectrum. High Pressure Processing (HPP) has become a reliable technique for increasing shelf life and guaranteeing microbiological safety in a variety of fish species. It works at moderate temperatures and high pressures. This chapter reviews the principles, applications, strengths, and limitations of these advanced non-thermal techniques in fish processing. It highlights their
potential to revolutionize the industry by meeting consumer demands for safe, high-quality fish products while overcoming the drawbacks associated with conventional thermal methods.
