The agro-meteorological data after the quality control is used to establish a relationship between the crop and weather or to understand their interactions. In agrometeorological data analysis, statistical tools are used. The frequent use of statistics terms and their computational formulas are given below for ready reference:

Corynebacterium diptheriae was first observed by Klebs in 1883 and described in details by Loeffler in 1884. So it is also known as ‘Klebs-Loeffler bacillus’. In 1888, Nocard isolated a similar type of bacteria from cases of bovine farcy. In 1894, Preisz described it completely and revealed its similarities with the diphtheria bacilli. Latter it was named as Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis (Preisz-Nocard bacillus). Bollinger (1890) first reported C. renale from the cases of pyelonephritis in cows. Magnusson (1923) first described C. equi (Rhodococcus equi) form suppurative pneumonia of a foal.

Properties of genus

1.   Morphology

Corynebacterium are gram positive, pleomorphic bacteria ranging from coccoid to filamentous rods. The size varies from 0.5-0.6 µm by 1.0- 3.0 µm. Some of the species appear as packets of parallel cells (palisade arrangement) or show ‘V’ shaped form (Chinese letter arrangement) in the microscopic field (Fig.1and Fig.2). The cell wall peptidoglycan contains meso-diaminopimelic acid (meso-DAP). The arabinose and galactose are major cell wall sugars. Short-chain mycolic acids (corynomycolic acids, 22–36 carbon atoms) are present. This kind of cell wall structure is impermeable to the hydrophilic compounds. However, the ‘porin’ present in the cell wall sometimes helps in import of the hydrophilic substances. Mycolic acid containing cell wall helps in intracellular survival within the macrophages. Corynebacterium is non acid fast, non-sporulating, non-capsulated and non-motile bacteria (except C. aquaticum)

The word “Credit” is derived from a Latin word “Credo”, meaning “I Believe”. The Latin verb “credere” means “to repose confidence in”. Note that borrowing is a function of ability to command capital or services currently with a promise to repay it in future i.e. obtaining certain amounts of money as loan to be rapid as specified in the Agreement between the concerned parties. Credit means the ability to command other peoples’ capital in return for a promise to repay at some specified time in future. It is therefore the combination of the “ability to borrow” and “willingness to borrow”.

Sample: A sample is a subgroup of the population, which is the focus of research inquiry and is selected in such a way that it represents the study population. A sample is composed of a few individuals from whom the required information is collected. It is done to save time, money and other resources.

Introduction

Soil pollution is anything that causes contamination of soil and degrades the soil quality. It occurs when the pollutants causing the pollution decrease the quality of the soil and convert the soil inhabitable for micro and macro organisms living in the soil. Soil pollution can occur either because of human activities and/or natural processes. However, mainly it is due to human activities. The soil contamination can occur due to the presence of chemicals such as ammonia, pesticides, lead, herbicides, mercury, nitrate, naphthalene, petroleum hydrocarbons, etc. in an excess amount.

Soils can be polluted with several organic and inorganic pollutants. Organic pollutants contain hazardous persistent organic compounds viz. polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated naphthalines (PCNs) and other persistent organic compounds. Inorganic pollutants contain heavy metals like lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), arsenic (As) and nickel (Ni) as well as some radioactive compounds or radionuclides. The major sources of soil pollutants are anthropogenic. It contains mainly two sources, point and diffuse; the point sources contains industrial wastes, municipal wastes, domestic wastes, medical wastes, agrochemicals, agricultural wastes, composts and sludges and nuclear wastes. Organic and inorganic soil pollutants can be toxic for plants, animals soil organisms and others. Some compound of the soil pollutants enter into the food chain and can adversely affect on human health. Soil pollutants can be also transferred to surrounding air and water through leaching, volatilization, runoff and dust storms. Quality of air and water adversely affected can be degraded. Thus, remediation of polluted soils has become an awful necessity in many areas of the world.

5.1 Introduction
One of the main methods for cost avoidance and prevention is value engineering/ value analysis. “Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE)” states that value Analysis is the systematic use of known procedures which determine the function of a product or service, define a monetary value for the function, and provide the essential function reliably at the lowest overall cost. If these are applied to a new product, it is called value engineering. By analysing the function of any product, material part, component, system, or service, it is possible to find extraneous expenditures connected with them and effectively remove them without compromising the product’s quality, functional dependability, or ability to provide services. The principles and steps of value analysis/ value engineering will supplement the effort of design thinking.
5.2 Symptoms for Introducing Value Analysis (VA)
If one or more of the following symptoms exist, starting a VA programme is expected to yield very positive effects.
i. Sales of the company’s products are declining.
ii. The prices of the products of the company are greater than those of the products of its rivals.

Spider lily (Hymenocallis littoralis) is a perennial bulbous plant distinguished by its fragrant white flowers, central corona and spider-like appearance. It is an important commercial loose flower crop in western India, particularly Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka, where flowers are used for garlands, Veni, Gajra and ceremonial decoration. Introduction

India now emerged as the world’s second largest producer of fruits, vegetables and tea holding a share of 10 percent. The production base of horticultural crops has been expending since independence (Chadha, 2009). But as a controversy to the previous statement there is a clear indication about the declining farm sector performance-in addition to its deleterious economic ramifications often causing large scale rural distress which often ends up in farmer suicides (Sundaresan, 2009). This distress conveys much on the economic rationale ruling the agri and rural domain for its incompatibility in the changing market environment. The identified major problems faced by farmers in the present scenario were non-availability of information about marketing services including availability of crop specific markets, existing demand of a commodity and daily market price for their produce which can be broadly categorized under lack of market-led extension services.

Conservation Agriculture (CA) is defined as a process of ‘sustainable intensification of agriculture’ for enhancing and sustaining production at low cost, without deteriorating soil health and flow of environmental services. The process of agricultural intensification increases food production and spares land for the other uses including eco-system services. In line with the vision of Norman Borlaug, agricultural intensification is also known as ‘The Borlaug Effect’. Frameworks such as ‘Conservation Agriculture’, ‘Ecological Intensification’ and ‘Ever Green Revolution’ share a common view of cropping systems as agro-ecosystems designed to make maximum use of fixed resources (land, light and temperature etc.) with optimum use of agri-inputs for attaining sustainable production levels (Cassman 1999)’. Conservation agriculture is also considered as an important component of the overall strategy for ensuring food security, poverty alleviation, health for all, rural development, enhancing productivity, improve environmental quality and preserve natural resources. With limited scope for further expansion of area under agriculture, production gains can be accomplished through intensification of agriculture, achieved by pursuing one or more strategies (with rationale use of natural resources as well as external production inputs) enumerated as under:

The term ‘Phyto-hormone’ was coined by Thimann in 1948. Phyto-hormones are organic compounds, which are produced naturally in plants, synthesised in one part and usually translocated to the other part where in every small quantity affect the growth and other physiological function of the plants. Auxin was the first hormone to be discovered in plants. At one time, auxin was considered to be the only naturally occurring plant growth hormone however, four other classes of phyto-hormone viz., gibberellins, cytokinin, ethylene and abscisic acid was later discovered. Plant growth regulators include both five specified classes of phyto-hormones (auxin, gibberellins, cytokinin, ethylene and abscisic acid) and other synthetic organic compounds (for example, polyethylene glycol, dinoseb-2-sec butyl 4,6dinitrophenol, proteins and/or amino acids, carboxylic, phenolic acid, humic acids, etc.) having properties of bio-stimulants or bio-inhibitors. Plant growth regulators (PGRs) modify plant physiological processes either by stimulating or inhibiting specific enzymes or enzyme systems to help regulate plant metabolism and thereby enhance yield and product quality. They normally are active at very low concentrations in plants.

Importance of PGRs was first recognized in the 1930s. Since then, wide array of natural and synthetic compounds that alter function, shape and size of crop plants have been discovered. Of the many uses of PGRs, effects on yield are often indirect. A wide range of beneficial effects of PGRs on crop growth and yields are: 1. promotion of germination and/or emergence, 2. stimulation of root growth, 3. promotion, mobilization and translocation of nutrients within plants, 4. modification of flowering, 5. increase in stress tolerance and improvement of water relations in plants, 6. promotion of early maturity, 7. increase in disease resistance, 8. retardation of senescence and 9. improvement of crop yields and/or quality.

Introduction Shrimp farming is a lucrative sector in the food production industry. According to SOFIA (2020), 9.4 million tonnes of crustaceans were produced in 2020 worldwide, with 4.96 million tonnes coming from Penaeus vannamei. India is one of the largest global producer and exporter of farmed shrimp. In India, shrimp production increased significantly after introducing Pacific white leg shrimp, Penaeus vannamei, in 2009. Among the cultured shrimp species, Penaeus vannamei is the leading species under culture in India, with an estimated production of 7.12 lakh tonnes (MPEDA, 2020). Intensification of culture and diversification of species provoke the incidence of diseases making diseases the major constraint in aquaculture, leading to tremendous losses. Shrimp diseases are of viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic origin.

Human migration involves the movement of people from one place to another with intentions of settling, permanently or temporarily, at a new geographical location. The movement often occurs over long distances and from one country to another, but internal migration, within a single country, is also possible; indeed, this is the dominant form of human migration globally. Migration is often associated with better human capital at both individual and household level, and with better access to migration networks. Age is also important for both work and non-work migration. People may migrate as individuals, in family units or in large groups. There are four major forms of migration: invasion, conquest, colonization and emigration/immigration.

Persons moving from their home due to forced displacement, such as a natural disaster or civil disturbance, may be described as displaced persons or, if remaining in the home country, internally-displaced persons. A person who seeks refuge in another country can, if the reason for Annual Net Migration Rate 2015–2020. Prediction by UN in 2019.leaving the home country is political, religious, or another form of persecution, make a formal application to that country where refuge is sought and is then usually described as an asylum seeker. If this application is successful this person's legal status becomes that of a refugee.

These lovely fishes are usually kept in a glass made aquarium and decorated with toys, plants, ceramic structures etc. for beautification. It displays the attractive fish that live in a natural environment decorated with accessories while maintaining environmental parameters in tanks/aquariums by using aerators, heaters, filters, lights to control water movement, temperature, suspended organic matter, illumination etc. besides feeding. Keeping ornamental fish in a glass tank is a very old and popular hobby. More and more people are getting attracted to this hobby and due to growing interest in aquarium keeping; it has resulted in a steady expansion in its trade in more than 125 countries. Household aquariums are more popular; therefore, less than 1% of the global market for ornamental fishes belongs to the public aquaria sector. Most of the ornamental fish is available from developing countries in the tropical and sub-tropical regions. The international trade in ornamental fish breeding and culture provides employment opportunities for thousands of rural people in developing countries. Ornamental fish is becoming an important component in Indian fisheries too, along with food fishes, for both income and employment generation. As a result of advancements in breeding, transport and rearing technology, more and more fish species are being recognized as ornamental fish almost every year. The ornamental fishery is recognized by many developing countries for employment generation and livelihoods. Ecologically suitable culture systems must be developed by evolving micro, small and medium enterprises for sustainable growth.

A. Viruses: Structure and Characteristics
What is a Virus?
A virus is an infectious agent composed primarily of nucleic acid (either DNA or RNA) enclosed in a protein coat called a capsid. In some cases, viruses may also have an outer lipid membrane or envelope. Plant viruses are much smaller than bacteria and fungi, and they lack the cellular structures necessary for independent life. They can only replicate by hijacking the host cell’s machinery.
Structure of Viruses
1. Nucleic Acid: This is the genetic material of the virus, which can be either RNA or DNA, and it carries the instructions for making new virus particles. Plant viruses are mostly RNA viruses, though some DNA viruses also exist.
2. Capsid: The protein shell that encloses and protects the nucleic acid. The capsid is made of protein subunits called capsomeres and can take various shapes, such as rod-like (rigid or flexible) or spherical.
3. Envelope: Some plant viruses may have an outer lipid envelope derived from the host cell’s membrane, which provides additional protection.

During most of the years, there will be loss of agricultural production by at least 15 to 20 per cent per annum due to unfavourable weather situations. The farmers practicing agriculture expect uniform returns every year as the investment costs are much higher and cannot afford loss in production. Of late, the inter-seasonal and intra seasonal variations in weather are very frequent. The weather conditions observed were found to exceed even beyond known limits. Exceptional deviation from any one single weather parameter like air temperature, rainfall and wind can trigger considerable loss in production or sometimes even crop failure (Fig.12.1). Fig. 12.1: Components of a microclimate and its interlinkages Large scale weather modification is not practicable to a greater extent as uniform results cannot be expected under these conditions. There is need to explore cost effective management options that may significantly alter some weather parameter that is detrimental to crop production at field level by the farmers themselves. Therefore, microclimatic modification is an emerging technology to alter or change the unfavourable weather conditions detrimental to crop growth using cost effective and easily manageable techniques for minimizing the loss in crop production. The options for microclimatic modification have to be decided based on whether and the nature of weather aberrations. For example, dry spells are most common during rainy season in most of the arid and semi-arid regions. The farmers growing crops under rainfed conditions suffer considerable loss in production due to occurrence of dry spells as the crop experiences moisture stress. These dry spells may occur any time during the growing season. In such situations, the farmer needs to adopt a management option even before sowing a crop. Sometimes, the occurrence of weather aberration cannot be anticipated and the farmer has to prepare for adopting a management option based on weather forecast. Such measures are temporary and needs to be adopted to ward off the unfavourable weather conditions to a certain extent. Microclimatic modification can be a permanent, seasonal or temporary option depending upon the climate of the region. The crop microclimate refers to the climate just above and within the crop canopy and in the soil root zone that can be influenced by the day-today management practices. Microclimate modification is a measure to change or regulate the weather parameter at farm level. The microclimate management option also depends upon the nature and type of the soil as well.

Client communication is the key to success in practice as it is an important skill to narrow down the gap between owner of the animal and the veterinarian. In other words, it is a meaningful exchange of information between attending veterinarian and the owner of the ailing animal for improving health care outcome. In client centered world (where client satisfaction is in the core of practice), communication with client  has assumed greater significance whether it is related to educating him about preventive health care; explaining about disease diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options; or explaining about chronic disease condition and its outcome. Communication also influences the wellbeing of the patient. Therefore, development of trust in client-veterinarian relationship is crucial as it not only enhances the quality of history taking but also help in better clinical diagnosis and subsequent clinical care.
