ABSTRACT

Bangladesh is a land of rivers, wet lands and tributaries across her deltaic plains in which aquaculture is a potential arena to meet dietary needs of protein. The main objective of this study was to bring out the dominating factors on adoption of modern aquaculture technologies by the fish farmers. The study was conducted in Kahaloo and Sherpurupazilas of Bogra district. Respondent fish farmers were selected using proportionate random sampling technique. Quantitative data were collected using predesigned interview schedule during August to September 2011. Socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents viz. ‘use of information sources’ ‘innovativeness’, ‘social participation’, ‘commercialization’ and hindrances of adoption i.e. ‘lack of technical knowledge’, ‘unavailability of credits in time’, ‘lack of quality fish fry’, ‘comparatively low market price’, ‘fish fry price is high’, ‘unavailability of quality fish feed’, ‘adulteration of fertilizers’ were the major dominating factors on adoption of modern aquaculture technologies. ‘formulated feed is costly’, ‘high production cost’

Audio-visual aids serve to complement extension and development workers rather than replace them. Not all aids are suitable for every occasion, but there are specific aids that should be carefully chosen and utilized for each particular situation. There is no universal rule for selecting and employing audio-visual aids to ensure effectiveness in all circumstances. To achieve the most effective outcomes, extension workers should:

• Choose the appropriate aids,

• Employ a suitable combination of selected aids,

• Utilize them in the correct sequence.

Audio-visual aids are employed individually or in combination, taking into account the following factors:

1. Size of Audience: Video presentations or whiteboards may not be effective when the audience exceeds 30 participants. Leaflets, bulletins, or handouts are suitable for one reader at a time, while public address systems or internet messages are suitable for large audiences.

2. Nature of Audience: Printed media are suitable for literate individuals, while exhibits, pictures, and symbols are more appropriate for those with lower literacy levels.

3. Teaching Objective / Expected Nature of Change: Audio-visual aids should be selected based on the objective of extension teaching, whether it aims to change:

• Thinking or knowledge,

• Attitude or feeling,

• Actions or skills.

The digital revolution is radically shifting how people create, manage, share and publish information, as well as how they relate, collaborate, communicate and share resources. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), Social Media, Web 2.0 and mobile applications have also significantly changed the livelihoods of the local farmers especially in developing countries.

World-wide, both in developing and in developed countries;family farming is one of the most predominant forms of agriculture. It includes a wide spectrum of farm sizes and types. In high-income economies, it ranges from very large land holdings that are easily cultivated by one or two family members with the use of labour-saving machinery and hired labour. In low-income economies,with small holdings of a few hectares or less and that are often oriented towards subsistence with low marketable surplus.

6.1 Hal for Land Preparation: This plough is constructed from Babool, sal, sisham wood, and mild steel. The body and handle are made from one piece, with a separate shoe. It is operated by one pair of bullocks with a yoke, weighs 48 lbs, and can cover 0.8 to 1 acre per day. It works to an average depth and width of 5 and 6 inches in alluvial soils, with a draught requirement of 185 lbs. It is used by 100% of the farming community in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. (ICAR, 1960)

6.2 Wetland Plough (Dammu Nagali) for Land Preparation: This plough is made from Babool, palmyra, and mild steel, weighing 30-40 kg. Operated by two bullocks and one man, it is attached to the yoke with ropes for puddling rice fields, covering half an acre per day. It has a draught of 200-220 kg and ploughs to a depth of 4-5 inches and width of 5-6 inches in black and red soils. Repairable locally, its annual maintenance costs range from Rs 0.5 to 1.0, with an operational cost of Rs 25 per hectare. It is widely used in the coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh (Guntur and West Godavari). (ICAR, 1960).

ABSTRACT

Communication is now one of the central issues in developing societies. Knowledge expansion, information technology and technology dissemination are the three very important dimensions of any development system be it agriculture, industry and whatever. Revolutionary changes in communication policies, techniques and strategies are needed in order to make information is a fundamental right to the poor rather than making communication a privilege enjoyed by the rich and powerful. Transfer of agricultural technology generally aims at speedy diffusion of novel agricultural information from the place of invention to the place of adoption. In the current Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era, human dependency on computer and allied modern electronic gadgets for executing day to day activities is inevitable. All fields are being influenced by the interventions of ICT and agriculture is in no way an exception to it.

Introduction

Agriculture is a major sector in Indian economy. It is one of the biggest production sector contributing more than 20 percent of GDP for India’s economy. Its is the largest provider of employment in Rural India. Over 70 percent household depends on agriculture. Its provides raw materials to industries and market for industrial product(Kekane, 2013).

Therefore, agriculture is a main sector for the planning of social and economic development of the country. Rapid growth of agriculture is essential not only to achieve self reliance at national level but also for household food security and to bring about equity in distribution of income and wealth resulting in rapid reduction in poverty line (Shrivastava et al. 2010). Agriculture is considered as the biggest unorganized sector where large numbers of women are working for their livelihood. The farm women comprise a quarter of the word’spopulation . Women also make up 41 percent of the word’s agriculture labour force, a ratio which rises to 49 percent for low income countries (ILO,2018).

Women play an important role towards the growth of the agricultural sector and its other associated areas. They perform multifarious tasks in agriculture and its allied fields. They are playing an important role in most of the farm operation like land preparation, seed treatment, sowing, planting, weeding, intercultural operation, irrigation of crop, application of manures and fertilizers, protection of crop, harvesting, threshing, storage etc. There is hardly any activity in agricultural production, except ploughing in which women are not actively involved. In some of the farm activities like processing and storage, women are dominant so strongly those men workers numerically insignificant (Patil and Babus 2018).Naidu et al. (2020) found that 63 percent of women are engaged in sowing of seeds and transplanting followed by in harvesting operation (61%), wedding (59%), winnowing (27%), manure and fertilizer application (25%) on regular basis.

Today around 25% of rural population in India are between the age group of 15 and 29 (2001 Census).  The Tenth Five-Year Plan (2002-2007) has estimated that India's labour force will increase faster than the ability of the economy to create new working opportunities. The country is adding 2 million young people to the ranks of the unemployed every year. The Plan document estimates that open unemployment could be as high as 5% at the end of the Tenth Plan period, from 2.8% at present.  This is likely to entail tremendous costs, including social unrest and dislocation resulting with large number of youth are unemployed or underemployed.
 
In India and in many developing countries the majority of the work force is employed in agriculture. However, stagnating agricultural productivity and rural environmental degradation have made agriculture a last option.  As the environment on which their livelihoods depend becomes more and more degraded, rural youth face diminished prospects of employment.  Not only do these youth lack income, they lack a means of gaining respect and a sense of belonging in their communities.  Unable to find decent employment, youth often look for employment in the urban informal sector, with poor working conditions and pay.  But without training in skills suited to the rural labour market, these youth have few opportunities in rural areas.  Inadequately trained to compete successfully in rural labour markets, they often suffer worse levels of poverty and marginalization in rural areas.

It may soon become a drag on the economy.
Hence, farm development requires renewed efforts,
Farm youth must get critical attention.

Farming is still the only source of human subsistence. No alternative is in sight. This ancient family occupation has survived over the ages through a process of transfer from father to son, generation to generation. But, in recent times, with an unprecedented externalization of farming, and under the pervasive influence of Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation, this process of transfer of occupational knowledge within the community is seriously dislocated. Also, the earlier institutional arrangements for formal education in farming like district agricultural schools, gramsevaks training units and farmers training centres have now disappeared. In the meantime, even as more rural youth are becoming literate, formal education system is seen to have shed all aspects of agricultural education. Thus, the rural drop-outs are missing both formal and informal orientation in farming since a comprehension of ‘modern’ farming is beyond the middle level farmers. As such, farm youth today are neither here nor there, with regard to farming.

Abstract

Extension and Advisory Services (EAS) are delivered by millions of extension professionals representing the public, private and civil society located across the globe and have been helping in addressing farmers’ needs over the years. However, public sector has been a major agency dealing with EAS in India and is facing several challenges and constraints to fulfill the demands of farmers on timely basis. The challenge today is to change the organizational culture to incorporate innovation as a core value and to institutionalize the emerging paradigms. Further, different strategies and measures need to be taken to ensure timely and quality EAS by reorienting extension priorities. This paper has highlighted on strengthening extension and feedback mechanism, improving research- extension linkages, capacity building, public-private partnership (PPP), developing infrastructure, mass media support and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) etc. to improve the efficiency as the time demands. The paper concludes that reorienting extension priorities is very essential with a vast network of various stakeholders by adapting effective approaches like utilization of social media, human resource development, PPP, farmer groups etc. during and post pandemic scenario. Further, empirical efforts are also needed to develop reliable, location-specific, participatory, gender-sensitive and inexpensive extension methodologies and materials to meet the emerging demands. Further, developing countries like India have to invest in terms of various resources like financial, human resource etc. for promoting higher productivity and sustainability through EAS.

Farmer Producer Organizations represent a transformative institutional innovation in agricultural development that addresses the fundamental challenges of small-scale farming through collective action and cooperative enterprise development. These organizations emerge from the recognition that individual small farmers face insurmountable obstacles in accessing markets, obtaining fair prices, securing quality inputs, and achieving economies of scale necessary for sustainable agricultural livelihoods in increasingly competitive and globalized food systems. The concept of FPOs builds on the rich tradition of agricultural cooperation while adapting to contemporary market realities and policy frameworks that require formal institutional structures for accessing services, credit, and government support programs. FPOs represent a hybrid institutional form that combines the democratic governance and member ownership characteristics of traditional cooperatives with the business orientation and professional management capabilities of modern enterprises, creating organizations that can operate effectively in comp

Keeping in-sight of the demand for agricultural growth, evolutionary modifications had been made in transfer of technology to succeed in the farming community effectively. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is one among the required counterparts which made the agriculture extension more realistic and quite interesting.

Developing nations like India are though capable to get self-sufficiency in food production after green revolution however they’re in risk to keep this self sufficiency as they are possibly to face food shortage in near future due to rapid population growth. Thus, the demand of continuous increasing population is often fulfilled with the assistance of ICT as a tool of revamping extension network of the country. ICT is an emerging tool for development of farming communities.

Information and communication technologies have unique feature that provide opportunities to harness them in ways which are extraordinary from traditional media. ICT provides two-way communication between rural communities and development organizations. ICTs also improves the capacity to look for information and increase the number of information available, provide quality information, reduces uncertainty and enhance market participation.

Agricultural practices have been undergoing changes over a period of time throughout the world. The intensive agricultural practices followed during the past four decades in our country resulted in food security and self-sufficiency. This was achieved through development of input responsive varieties coupled with use of chemical fertilizers and plant protection chemicals. Agriculture is an important sector for economic development in India. Crop production is an important income source for millions of farmers in some cases with few cropping alternatives due to ecological constraints. All over the world majority offarmers rely on pesticides and fertilizers to increase yields. Pesticide use in most Indian agriculture is an essential part of production technology. Therefore farmers in developing countries are perceived as overusing pesticides, both in quantity and quality, with mixtures of chemicals, known locally as cocktails, being the favoured form of application (Crissman et al., 1994).

The world’s population is projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, putting unprecedented pressure on the agricultural sector to produce more food while minimizing its environmental footprint. However, the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related disasters, such as droughts, floods, and heat waves, pose significant challenges to agricultural productivity and food security. To address these challenges, farmers, policymakers, and agricultural experts must adopt innovative approaches that integrate climate science, agricultural meteorology, and cutting-edge technologies to generate actionable farming intelligence. Climate science and agricultural meteorology provide critical insights into the complex relationships between weather patterns, climate variability, and agricultural productivity. By incorporating these disciplines into farming practices, farmers can enhance crop yields, reduce climate-related risks, promote sustainable agriculture, and improve decision-making. Understanding weather patterns and climate trends enables farmers to optimize planting dates, irrigation schedules, and harvest times, leading to improved crop yields and reduced losses. Access to accurate and reliable climate information helps farmers anticipate and prepare for climaterelated disasters, minimizing damage to crops and livestock. Climate science and agricultural meteorology also inform farmers about the most effective strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water, and maintaining soil health. The integration of climate science, agricultural meteorology, and cutting-edge technologies is revolutionizing the agricultural sector. Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms analyze large datasets, including climate information, soil moisture levels, and crop health, to provide insights on optimal farming practices. Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and connected devices monitor weather patterns, soil conditions, and crop health in real-time, enabling farmers to respond promptly to changing conditions. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and spatial analysis help farmers understand the spatial distribution of climate-related risks and opportunities, informing decision-making at the farm level (Fig. 3.1).

Healthcare organizations require collaborative learning methods that protect sensitive patient information. This chapter introduces federated learning as a framework for training models across decentralized institutions without transferring raw clinical data. Horizontal, vertical and hybrid federated architectures are examined alongside communication protocols, threat models and security requirements. Privacy-enhancing methods—including differential privacy, secure aggregation, cryptographic techniques and trusted execution environments—are discussed. Applications in medical imaging, electronic health-record analysis, wearable devices and remote patient monitoring demonstrate the framework’s practical value. The chapter also evaluates accuracy, privacy, communication cost, scalability and robustness while addressing data heterogeneity, fairness, explainability, legal compliance and ethical challenges in collaborative healthcare analytics.

Definition

• If a communication source decodes the message that he encodes, if the message is put back to his system, we have a feedback - Berlo (1960)

• Feedback is defined as the action reaction interdependence in communication.

• The return to the input of a part of the output is the feedback.

• Feedback is the reaction on the part of the receiver to a sender's communication.

Feedback or response of the audience is the ultimate objective of any communication process or function. Response of an audience to message received may be in the form of some kind of physical or mental action. Until the desired action results, extension communication does not achieve its most essential objectives. The response of the audience (whether in the form of action or reaction) can be used by a communicator as a check of his own effectiveness and a guide to his own future action. When a source receives feedback, that is rewarding, he continues to produce the same kind of message. When he gets non-rewarding feedback, he eventually will change his message. Schramn (1955) points out that each person in the communication process is both an encoder and decoder. He receive and transmits. However, a person will decode a message and interpret it in accordance with his own experience.• Feedback means carrying out significant responses of the audience back to the communicator.

Fidelity is said to exist in a communication situation when there is no distortion of the message from the time it leaves the source until it is received. The most effective communication occurs when the message transmitted and the message received are identical i.e., when complete fidelity is there. Some communication theorists believe that complete fidelity can never be achieved that no message is ever received exactly as it was intended by the source. This seems likely, since the source and receiver always have different frames of reference. It is clear, however, that the fidelity of any communication can be vastly improved by several methods.

Methods to Improve Fidelity

a) Use several channels of communication

To say the same thing, thus providing a duplication of information. Multiplying the channels used will make communication redundant. A smile, a node of the head, a firm hand shake or embrace and the greeting "Hi! How are you?" often convey the same meaning – meaning that would be conveyed through a single channel or redundantly through more than one.

b) Control the speed of communication

Information is processed by different individuals at different speeds. The rate varies for each situation and for each of the individuals in various situations. In talking casually to a few friends, we might speak very quickly where as in talking to a large group of strangers, we might want to talk more slowly because of the increased possibility for misunderstanding, the intrusion of noise. Whether we should speed up, slow down, or become more succinct (briefly and clearly explained) has to be a function of the feedback we gain. There is no specific rate that is ideal for all – except that rate at which a high degree of fidelity can be attained. It is the rate at which the amount of noise affecting the communication can be minimized. Sender and receiver should be aware of how communication works and interested in achieving the greatest f idelity possible

Field Diary

There are two kinds of field notes

The field diary is the basic document which contains all the data collected. Facts and interpretations are to be written separately and conversations to be noted in the vernacular languages. Two kinds of field notes are to be observed a) Taking notes on the spot b) Writing detailed diary.

Daily field diary

It is instructed to write the field diary everyday in which a) Detailed notes of observations b) Field notes on discussion and conversations c) Details of Interpersonal communication, gossips, fold history‘s similar events d) Specific details of special events Specific reference about the main field of study for instance, the details about the process of message diffusion, various kinds of channels of communication were described in detail.

Field diary for research process documentation

The most useful tool for a process documenter is a field diary. The documenter uses a field diary to record his or her observations and thoughts in an orderly fashion. Recording observations and impressions enables a researcher to pick up clues about how the system is operating. A field diary should help the investigator understand the systems physical and social setting. It should help describe who, what, why, where, when and how. Who refers to the people or system being studied. What concerns the information gathered. Why, where, when and how provide important details about the observation.

There is no special format in writing a field diary but entries should be written daily in chronological order so information is not forgetten or changed because of forgetfulness. The critical concern is that observations are recorded in a diary regularly.

A TTO needs a planned budget of five years to sustain it in the long term. This involves budgeting the infrastructure, manpower, research, and outreach programs. The budgetary needs of a TTO will be based on the size and scope of the TTO and the maturity of the parent institution it caters to. The initial years will be focused on capacity development, the appointment of experts, and the establishment of processes of intellectual property management. The mature TTO will generate income through the returns of the licensing agreements and the collaborative efforts with the industry. Nevertheless, external funding through grants and government schemes plays a vital part, particularly in the initial years. The planned budget ensures long-term stability and development of the TTO.

9.1.1 Operational expenditure
Operational expenditure refers to the ongoing costs incurred by a TTO to maintain its day-to-day operations. This includes the cost of maintaining the office, including rent, power and utility bills, computer and network infrastructure, patent management cost, and administration charges. The filing and legal charges also fall within this category. The overheads will be a heavy burden if not planned with finances properly. A TTO has to be provided with a properly planned operational budget that covers the daily operational expenses. Giving people and companies access to basic financial services is known as f inancial inclusion, and it has long been a problem on a global scale. Millions of people worldwide still lack access to basic banking services like savings accounts, loans, and insurance and are either underbanked or unbanked altogether. Fintech, or financial technology, has emerged as a key player in resolving this problem by providing creative ways to improve banking service accessibility and advance financial inclusion.

One of the main forces behind promoting equitable economic growth and lowering poverty is financial inclusion.

Introduction

An agricultural project is defined as an investment activity where financial resources are expended to create the capital assets with an anticipation of benefits over time. In other words, it is an activity where money is spent to realize the expected returns and requires planning, financing and implementation as a unit. In fact, the whole complex of activities using resources to gain benefits constitute the agricultural projects. The agricultural project may include projects such as irrigation, dairy, poultry, piggery, rural credit, social forestry, land reclamation/leveling, rural development projects, etc. Moreover, the dividing line between an “investment “ and a “production” expenditure is an agricultural project.  For instance, the fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, etc. are called investments where returns are realized over the service period of asset. Likewise, the plantation of fruit crops though constitute an investment yet the paddy transplanting as production expense, i.e., the difference exists in time span to grow plants.

Finance is vital to entrepreneurship. With limited resources starting a business is a challenge. Earlier generations of entrepreneurs establishing a business were different. They first guaranteed that money would be available to start—the business. So, if one wanted to build up a unit for a business, one would undertake market research and then approach the bank. Then activities like product development, ordering equipment, determining the site, acquiring land for the facility, what government policies are applicable etc., were considered. Before starting a business, an entrepreneur considers these factors. That was the old regime.

Introduction

This chapter gives an account of a summary of the significant findings of the study, followed by tenability of hypotheses, suggestions, further areas of research in the related areas, and a conclusion. The present study investigated the Quality of Work Life (QWL) of Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals working in Kerala’s eight prominent state universities. The data of the study were collected from the two hundred and sixty-six 266 regular qualified LIS professionals. 

Three years after the establishment of the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), a global conference was held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for promoting environmentally sustainable development in all spheres of human activity. At this UN Conference on Environment and Development, generally referred to as the Earth Summit, an Agenda 21 was adopted to provide guidelines for mainstreaming ecology in all major research and development programmes. In Agenda 21, pride of place has been given to the management of aquatic resources from both the quantitative and qualitative aspects. 2012 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Rio conference.  It will be useful to prepare a balance sheet indicating where we have succeeded and where we have failed in implementing Agenda 21 in the area of inland and marine fisheries, as well as integrated coastal zone management.

Introduction

Fisheries represent an important and fast growing food production sector in India that contributes more than 1% to the National GDP and 4.7% to the agricultural GDP. With an annual production of about 7 million tonnes from marine and inland waters, the country is the 3rd fish producer in the world and the 2nd largest producer of inland fish, next only to China. With a coastline of 8,129 km and EEZ of 2.02 sq km, our marine fish production is to the tune of 2.95 million tonnes. Similarly, the inland fisheries resources comprising 29,000 km of rivers, 0.3 million ha of estuaries, 0.19 million ha of backwaters and lagoons, 3.15 million ha of reservoirs, 0.2 million ha of floodplain wetlands. 0.72 million ha of upland lakes and 2.34 million ha of ponds and tanks produce 3.76 million tonnes annually. Annual export earnings from fish and shellfish are about Rs.8.357 crore, accounting for nearly 20% of the agricultural export. Fish is a health food that is relatively cheap and affordable to the poor. Fisheries and aquaculture provides income, food and livelihood to more than 14 million people directly or indirectly. The annual per capita availability of fish in the country is 9 kg that sustains the domestic market price of fish and the sector has registered an impressive overall annual growth rate of over 4% over the years, with growth in some farming activities going beyond 5%. However, stagnating growth in marine and inland capture fisheries is a cause of concern.

The reduction and the associated processes influence plant survival, growth and functioning in wetlands. Flood irrigation should always be just wet the soil not flood inviting stagnation of water.

A chain of reactions is initiated upon soil flooding leading to reduced soil redox potential conditions. These reactions include physical, chemical and biological processes that have significant implications on plants growth. Physical processes include restriction of atmospheric gas diffusion in the soil leading to depletion of soil oxygen and accumulation of carbon dioxide. Shortly after flooding, the limited supply of oxygen in soil pore spaces is depleted rapidly by roots, microorganisms, and soil reductants. The anomalies observed in the reverine systems have been demonstrated to be the potential tool in deciphering the tectonically active zones. Arid western part of Rajasthan which contains the Indian segment of the Thar Desert, accounts for ~62% of the country’s hot arid area and is a region of low rainfall. Under such physico-climatic situation, fluvial processes function much less frequently and more episodically than the aeolian processes, but their impacts on landforms and society are large, as noticed on several occasions in arid regions. There is a distinct east-west gradient of rainfall and temperature in the region. Along the eastern margin bordering Aravallies, the mean annual rainfall is 500 mm while in the westernmost part at Jaisalmer, it is less than 150 mm. The rainfall is largely monsoon driven which brings 80 - 90 per cent of total rainfall received during the year. There is large inter-annual rainfall variability of rainfall which leads to climatic extremes of drought and floods of different magnitudes. For example on an average, the Thar Desert in India experiences flood-causing rainfall in 2-3 years in a decade, but a maximum of 5 flood causing rainfall years in a decade was recorded during the 1950s, 1970s and the 1990s (Rao et al. 2006).

•   “Hunger is exclusion”, wrote de Castro (1963) a Brazilian anti-hunger advocate. “Exclusion from the land, from jobs, wages, income, life and citizenship. When a person gets to the point of not having anything to eat, it is because all the rest has been denied. This is a modern form of exile. It is death in life”.

•   Simply by being born, everyone has the right to food. A person doesn’t have to do anything to “deserve” it; the right to food is a birthright. But this does not entitle a person to sit back and ask for free food. People are responsible for doing all they can to realize their own right to food. Governments that are parties to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights are responsible for ensuring that all those living within their borders have the means to do so, (FAO, 2007).

According to FAO, there were 105 million more hungry people in 2009 than in the previous year and the number of malnourished people now stands at 1.02 billion. In the worst-affected countries, individual productivity losses due to malnutrition are equivalent to 10% of lifetime earnings, resulting in gross domestic product (GDP) losses of up to 3%. Around the world close to 10 million children die before their fifth birthday every year, over one-third of which are associated with under nutrition. One in three developing-country children under the age of five - 178 million children – are stunted due to chronic under nutrition and poor health, and some 148 million children are underweight. Micronutrient deficiencies or “hidden hunger” affects around 2 billion people worldwide or about one third of the world’s population. These vitamin and mineral deficiencies, especially of iron, iodine, zinc and vitamin A, lead to poor physical growth and development, lowered mental capacities, reduced productivity, impaired immune systems, blindness and death - all of which are preventable.

The present investigation has been made to examine the levels of food insecurity at the micro level in four regions identified in the tribal dominated areas of Maharashtra on the basis of macro level indicators. A comparison of food insecurity between the two communities reveals a high incidence of food insecurity among the tribal as compared to that of non-tribal.
