The interventions for women empowerment was perhaps started intensively since fourth plan period. Subsequently many more initiatives are taken for the total all round development of women in this country.

A. 4^TH FIVE YEAR PLAN (1969-1974)

Farmers Training and Education Programme

It was for the first time in the 4^th Five Year Plan that an effort was made by Ministry of Agriculture to address the training and extension needs of women farmers with new and improved technology through “Farmers Training and Education Programme”, in which a network of 150 Farmers Training Centers were established to close the visible gap between the recommended package of practices and the farm women’s knowledge and skills about them. In this programme, a linkage of the supply of production inputs with improved technical training, supported by Farm Radio Broadcast and Functional Literacy was provided. The unique feature of this programme was that for the first time, a cognizance of women’s participation in agriculture was taken. The experience of the programme had shown that the states which gave due importance to this programme, especially in terms of curriculum planning and syllabus formulation (based on true status and needs of women farmers), achieved very good results. It was, this programme, which focused many issues that had to be categorically considered while planning and implementing agriculture support programmes for women farmers.

Chapter Overview

In this chapter, we delve into the pivotal role of women in livestock production, particularly in the context of India. Women emerge as the backbone of livestock care, contributing significantly to rural communities’ well-being and the nation’s economy. We explore their diverse and indispensable contributions, from feeding and general management to health and breed management, processing, and marketing. Despite their crucial roles, women face numerous obstacles and constraints in livestock production, including limited access to resources, gender biases, and cultural norms.

This chapter introduces the recovery and productive utilization of materials generated throughout the wool value chain. It examines wool grease and lanolin, suint salts, noil, short fibre, low-grade wool, waste wool and pelts. Particular attention is given to converting keratin-rich wool waste into biomedical materials, cosmetics, fertilizers, soil conditioners, filtration materials, bioplastics and composites. Insulation, horticultural applications and oil-spill sorbents are also discussed within a circular-economy framework that aims to minimize waste and increase resource efficiency.

This chapter introduces the principles of colouration and finishing of wool fibres and fabrics. It examines the relationship between keratin chemistry and dye uptake and discusses major dye classes used for wool. The chapter also covers temporary and permanent setting, milling, shrink-resist treatments and functional finishes. Processing conditions such as pH and temperature are considered in relation to colour uniformity and fibre protection. Modern approaches increasingly emphasize lower-water, lower-chemical and enzyme-assisted finishing routes to improve sustainability

This chapter introduces harvesting as the first major stage at which fleece quality can be preserved or lost. It discusses shearing methods, timing, hand and machine shearing and appropriate animal handling. Post-shearing operations including skirting, rolling, classing, pressing, baling, storage and transportation are examined. Particular emphasis is placed on contamination control, especially prevention of dark fibres and synthetic materials. Indian shearing practices and opportunities for improved training, hygiene and automated systems are also discussed.

This chapter introduces the natural, acquired and processing contaminants found in greasy wool and examines defects that reduce fibre value. Wool grease and suint, dirt, dust, sand, vegetable matter, branding materials and synthetic contaminants are considered. The chapter discusses kemp, medullated fibres, pigmented fibres, tender wool and other defects and explains their effects on processing and end use. Clean wool yield is introduced as an important quantitative measure for determining the amount of usable fibre recovered from greasy wool.

This chapter introduces the complete processing sequence through which greasy wool is transformed into yarn and fabric. It covers sorting, scouring, drying, carbonising, carding, combing, drawing, spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing. The distinction between woollen and worsted processing systems is explained in relation to fibre length and alignment. The chapter also addresses effluent management, grease recovery, energy use, chemical consumption and cleaner processing technologies, emphasizing the connection between processing efficiency and environmental sustainability.

This chapter introduces objective wool testing and the instruments used to generate reproducible measurements of fibre quality. It examines sampling and conditioning procedures and methods for measuring fibre diameter, staple length, staple strength, yield, vegetable matter and colour. Projection microscopy, airflow measurement and automated optical analysers are compared. The chapter explains how objective testing supports certification, sale by description, quality assurance and fair marketing and highlights the importance of standardized methods and representative samples.

This chapter introduces the major animal-derived textile fibres and distinguishes wool from fur, pelts and specialty fibres. It examines the structure of mammalian fur coats and the characteristics of fibres such as cashmere, mohair, angora and pashmina. The chapter discusses fibre fineness, scale structure, medullation, source animals and end uses. It also highlights the premium value of specialty animal fibres and their importance in luxury textile markets, particularly India's pashmina sector.

1.0. Objectives

• To impart the concept of word formation
• To train to use and change words in various category
• To provide the knowledge of affixation, conversion and compounding

2.0. Word Formation

The term ‘word formation’ does not impart an exact, universally endorsed usage. It focuses on all processes associated to changing the form of the word by, for example, affixation basically refers to morphology. In broad sense word formation depicts the processes of forming new lexical units. These changes can be noticed and understood easily, sometimes it becomes complex too.

1.0. Objectives

• To study the elements of the sentence and its order in that
• To identify elements of the sentence and observe the changing of words’ order in that
• To teach to label elements used in the sentence
• To teach that every language has its conventions for word order

2.0. Grammatical Units

To know any language knowledge of its grammar is highly required. As it is set of structural rules governing the composition of clauses, phrases and words in a language. On the basis of function, words’ categories are described. Utterance, morpheme, words, phrases, clauses and sentences in language are called grammatical units. Here few lines are given below following the description of grammatical units used.

Abstract

The two most important tasks for a patentee to undertake after being granted a patent, in any patent regime, would be to pay the renewal fees necessary to keep the patent alive, and provide proof of having worked the patent in the jurisdiction. This article seeks to highlight features of India’s legal requirements with regard to the working of patents on a commercial scale. The number of patents granted in a country is an indicator of the technological strength of the country. However, it should be noted that actual technological growth depends upon the working of patents. Working of a patent means the commercial exploitation of the invention that is embodied in the patent.

ABSTRACT

This paper provides an overall view on the history, structure and functions of World Intellectual Property Rights Organization.

Introduction

Human genius is the source of all works of art and invention. These works are the guarantees of a life worthy of men.  It is duty of the state to ensure with diligence the protection of the arts and inventions,” reads an inscription on the copula in the WIPO Headquarters building in Geneva. True to this inscription, WIPO functions through various mechanisms fostering judicious utilization of human intellect.  This paper intends presenting an overview on WIPO.

Key Points

• Provide immediate first-aid for wounds.

• For bite wounds, open healing is preferable.

• Silver nanoparticles have antibacterial properties and have been investigated for anticancer applications.

Introduction

Cuts, tears, burns, fractures, and other forms of live tissue injury are all considered wounds. Wounds are typically classified as clean, contaminated, or diseased. Clean wounds are ones that occur in sterile settings, such as surgical incisions. The quantity of germs present distinguishes between contaminated and infected wounds.

Initial Wound Management

The initial step in wound management should be to assess the animal's general stability. Obvious open wounds can divert attention away from more subtle but possibly fatal conditions (such as shock). The general health of the animal influences all areas of care and healing. Some diseases, such as anemia, may impair wound healing by lowering oxygen levels. Malnutrition may also disrupt the healing process. After the initial assessment, the patient should be stable.

Feature articles are an essential component of journalism and storytelling, offering an in-depth exploration of topics, people, or issues in an engaging and informative manner. Unlike straightforward news reports, feature articles provide context, detail, and a narrative that captivates readers.
Introduction to Feature Articles
A feature article is a detailed piece of writing that explores a particular topic, person, or event in depth, offering analysis, personal insights, or unique perspectives. They are typically longer than news articles and can cover a wide range of topics such as culture, science, lifestyle, technology, business, or human-interest stories.
Characteristics of a Feature Article
A feature article differs from other types of journalistic writing, such as news reports, by focusing on depth, creativity, and storytelling. Below are the key characteristics of a feature article:
1. In-Depth Exploration
• Feature articles provide a deep dive into a topic, exploring it from various angles.
• They go beyond surface-level reporting to examine the “why” and “how,” offering detailed insights and context.
• Example: A feature on climate change might include interviews with scientists, personal stories of affected individuals, and analysis of policy changes.

Objectives
• Understand the stages of the writing process.
• Visualize the flow of writing stages using a graph.
• Apply effective strategies for each stage of writing.
Introduction
The writing process is a structured approach that helps writers create clear and coherent texts. It generally consists of five main stages: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. The stages are interconnected, and writers often cycle back to earlier steps before finalizing their work. The following graph will help visualize how these stages overlap and repeat during the writing process.

Report writing is the process of creating a structured document that conveys information, findings, analyses, or recommendations on a specific topic or event. It involves gathering data, organizing it logically, and presenting it in a clear, concise, and formal manner tailored to the needs of a specific audience. The purpose of a report can range from providing insights and informing decisions to documenting progress or offering solutions to problems.
Importance of Report Writing
Report writing plays a vital role in various fields, including academics, business, research, and government. Its importance can be summarized as follows:
1. Effective Communication: Reports provide a formal means to convey ideas, findings, and analyses. They ensure information is communicated clearly and concisely to specific audiences, making it easier to understand and act upon.
2. Facilitates Decision-Making: Well-structured reports present data and insights that support informed decision-making. For example, business reports can guide strategic planning, while research reports help policymakers develop evidence-based strategies.
3. Accountability and Transparency: Reports serve as documentation that holds individuals or organizations accountable for their actions, progress, or outcomes. For instance, financial reports detail the allocation and use of resources, ensuring transparency.
4. Record Keeping and Reference: Reports act as permanent records of activities, events, or research. They provide historical data that can be referenced in the future for audits, evaluations, or comparisons.

A written communication is always put into writing and generally used when the audience is at a distance or when a permanency or record is required or where its preservation is essential in case it is needed as a evidence in cases of dispute. It is generally in the form of instruction, orders, rules and regulations, policies, procedures, posters, memos, reports information bulletins.

Importance of writing skills

1. Expression

Writing is one of the important ways of expressing your thoughts, and communicating ideas and views to others. Some have the innate ability to put their thoughts into words. Writing is more beneficial, specifically for those who are emotional, and do not express verbally. This tool allows them to express their ideas, thoughts or their existing mental condition, which otherwise, may not be possible. People express themselves by writing novels, short stories, biographies and even personal diaries, etc.

2. Judgment of a person

Often, a person is judged by the quality of writing, he/she possesses. Be it a school, college, workplace or a society, writing has become a vital yardstick to assess one’s knowledge and intellectuality. When we come across a person who is prim and proper, we immediately make an impression about that person being careful, responsible and sincere. Similarly, if the writing is devoid of mistakes, we tend to create a good impression about the writer.

Objectives
• Understand the concepts of precise writing, abstracting, and summarizing.
• Develop skills for condensing complex information effectively.
• Learn the essentials of the style of technical communication.
• Apply these writing techniques in various professional and academic settings.
Writing Skills
Writing skills, particularly in the professional and academic environment, are essential for communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely. Three important forms of condensing information are precise writing, abstracting, and summarizing, each serving a distinct purpose in effective communication. Alongside these, the style of technical communication plays a crucial role in ensuring that the information is communicated in a clear, structured, and efficient manner.
Precise Writing
Precise writing involves shortening a lengthy passage or document by conveying the core message without losing essential meaning. It requires understanding the main ideas, removing unnecessary details, and reconstructing the text in a concise form.

X-efficiency : Producing output at the minimum possible cost. This is not enough to ensure the best sort of economic efficiency, which maximises society’s total consumer plus producer surplus, because the quantity of output produced may not be ideal. For instance, a monopoly can be an X-efficient producer, but in order to maximise its profit it may produce a different quantity of output than there would be in a surplus-maximising market with perfect competition.
