A. Locale of Research
The research focused on the rural areas of Haringhata Block in Nadia district, West Bengal. This region was selected for the investigation due to several key reasons:
a) There is significant potential to gather pertinent data relevant to the current study within this area.
b) The researchers’ familiarity with the local population and proficiency in the local language facilitate more effective data collection and communication.
c) The region’s proximity to the researchers’ residences made it highly convenient for them to conduct fieldwork.

The discussion on the methodology has been conducted to comprehend the idea, procedures, and approaches employed for outlining the study, gathering information, analysing data, and interpreting the findings for the disclosure of Concrete evidence and the development of hypotheses. This chapter focuses on the methodology and process employed in the study, which is divided into eight key sections.
The study randomly chose the villages of Bhomrapara, Mitrapur, and Maniktala in the Gram Panchayat-Kasthadanga-1 of the Haringhata block in the Nadia district of West Bengal as the research locale. The area was chosen for the study due to several reasons: a) There is ample opportunity to gather relevant data for the current study, b) The researchers are familiar with the local people and language, c) The area is easily accessible to the researcher, and d) The student researchers have close connections with the area, its people, officials, and local dialects.
Pilot Study
Prior to commencing field work, preliminary research was undertaken to gain insight into the area, its inhabitants, institutions, communication and extension systems, as well as the existing information. The perspective and attitude of individuals towards the notion of climate change.
Sampling design
The sampling design for this agro-ecosystem study is meticulously crafted to address the pressing issues of agricultural sustainability. At the state level, West Bengal is purposively selected due to its severe agro-ecosystem degradation from high-intensity agriculture, necessitating in-depth research. Within the state, Nadia district is chosen for its similar challenges, reflecting the broader concerns observed at the state level. Further, the Haringhata block is identified purposively because of its specific issues: intense rice and vegetable farming, significant groundwater depletion, declining productivity, and reduced levels of livestock and organic carbon. These factors highlight the urgent need for Conservation Agriculture in this area. At the gram panchayat level, Kastodanga-1 is selected for its accessibility, which facilitates efficient

Area of the Study

The present study was taken up in West Bengal. From West Bengal, District Uttar Diaper, Blocks Kaliyaganj, Villages Radhikapur was selected.

4.1 Study Area

The present study was carried out in West Bengal, with a focus on the two districts of Uttar Dinajpur and Nadia. The research team specifically selected Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) that are operating and present in certain blocks (Kaliyaganj, Hemtabad, Hanskhali, Ranaghat-1) in these two districts.

Research setting refers to the detailed information of an area where the study was conducted. The study area generally comprises of a particular geographical area viz. a state, district, block, or gram panchayat area selected according to the convenience of the investigator who possess adequate knowledge regarding the location, communication facility etc. of the locality so that he can easily approach each and every corner of the area for data collection. Besides the investigators must also have the basic knowledge about the socio demographic background of the people so as to have an easy understanding of their knowledge, attitude and behavior. This chapter is intended to present a brief description of the area in terms of social, economic, and agricultural aspects where the present study has been conducted.

The term “research setting” describes the specifics of the location where the study was carried out. The study area typically consists of a specific geographic area, such as a state, district, block, or gram panchayat area, chosen based on the investigator’s convenience. The investigator should have sufficient knowledge of the area’s location, communication infrastructure, etc. to enable him to easily approach every part of the area for data collection. In order to easily comprehend the people’s knowledge, attitude, and conduct, investigators also need to have a fundamental awareness of their sociodemographic background. This chapter aims to provide a short overview of the social, economic, and agricultural elements of the region where the current research was carried out. The Haringhata and Kastodanga villages of gram panchayat Haringhata-1 and Kastodanga-2 in Haringhata block in the Nadia district of West Bengal were the study’s locations. Below is a quick overview of the block and village in particular, as well as the state and district in general.
Study Area
West Bengal, a state in eastern India, is the location of this study’s research region. West Bengal, a state in eastern India, has a distinct social and ecological context that has a wide range of effects on the people’s behaviour and level of life. The Nadia district’s block is the subject of the inquiry. The research area is under the Haringhata-1 and Kastodanga-2 Gram Panchayat in the villages of Haringhata and Kastodanga.

4.1. Area of the study
The study was conducted at Bilkumari village of Bilkumari gram panchayat in Nakashipara block in Nadia district in West Bengal.
4.2. Profile of West Bengal
On August 15,1947, as a result of the division of the undivided, West Bengal was established as one of the constituent state or the Indian union among the 29 states in India. The location of the West Bengal is in India’s north- eastern region between 21°37'-27°10' north latitude and 85°51'-89°53'east longitude. It is located in the country’s eastern part and fourth most populous state. It has theseventh-highest population density among sub-national entities worldwide. The sixth largest contributor to country’s GDP is WB. It is surrounded bythe countries of Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Sikkim, Assam with an area of 34,267 sqm with Kolkata as its capital. The sub and Himalayan region in the north, and the Gangetic Plain in the south comprise the two principal natural areas that comprise West Bengal. Despite the factthat West Bengal is oneofthesmallerstates, it isoneof India’slargest states in terms of population with 91million people. Agriculture is the main economicsector, the state’s population is primarily agricultural workers andfarmers. Rice is regarded as the primary food crop. Maize, legumes, oilseeds, wheat, barley, and potatoes are some of the major food crops. Nearly 66% of India’s jute needs are met by the state. Tea is the key cash crop. Darjeeling’s tea plantations are one of its main draws. Being widely known for its artistic achievements, particularly its filmmaking.

Present study was conducted in an Eastern Indian State ‘Chhattisgarh’, which was purposively selected keeping in view the importance of SHG movement in empowering rural poor in Eastern Indian States, home of the largest proportion of population below poverty line. To have in-depth micro level analyses, one district of Chhattisgarh was randomly selected, which happened to be the Kanker district.

1. Introduction

For actively participating in today's global information society, having access to information and information resources is crucial. Information serves as a foundational pillar for the success of any nation, and libraries act as the primary gateways to access information. Libraries have been playing a crucial role for decades in supporting educational, learning, and research activities, as well as catering to the diverse informational requirements of individuals. However, changes in the form and formats of documents as well as diverse needs of users, pose new challenges for libraries in meeting these dynamic needs of their users. Libraries must now reconsider their roles and duties, designing a variety of new innovative services that are crucial for providing value-added, needs-based support to the society. Societal progress depends on research, often described as the lifeblood of communities, as it is vital for offering solutions to various problems.Traditionally, libraries have provided their patrons with information resources. However, in addition to these resources, libraries must now offer a range of services to support the research endeavors of scholars and researchers. In essence, while libraries have historically played a significant role in supporting research, they now must take an active role from the inception of research activities to the dissemination and formal publication of research findings. Achieving this requires not only the redesigning of library services but also the development of new skills among library professionals to proficiently navigate through the flood of information, useadvanced information and communication technologies effectively and offer comprehensive research support services (RSS) to user community.

1.1. Introduction

Research in simple terms refers to search for knowledge. It is a scientific and systematic search for information on a particular topic or issue. It is also known as the art of scientific investigation. Several social scientists have defined research in different ways.

In the Encyclopaedia of Social Sciences, D. Slesinger and M. Stephenson (1930) defined research as “the manipulation of things, concepts or symbols for the purpose of generalizing to extend, correct or verify knowledge, whether that knowledge aids in the construction of theory or in the practice of an art”. According to Redman and Mory (1923), research is a “systematized effort to gain new knowledge”. It is an academic activity and therefore the term should be used in a technical sense. According to Clifford Woody (Kothari, 1988), research comprises “defining and redefining problems, formulating hypotheses or suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and evaluating data; making deductions and reaching conclusions; and finally, carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the formulated hypotheses”

Of all kinds of resources; financial, natural, physical and human resources, the most critical resources for any endeavor are the human resources involved in it. Physical, natural and economic resources are important for facilitating development of any nation but the most important are the human resources. Human resources are the most significant of all the resources to convert all other available resources into production and economic entities. Capable, efficient and motivated human resources can bring about the tremendous positive change towards progress. No doubt, it is equally true that inefficient people can wither away a whole empire and squander away its precious wealth and abundance. People are the real wealth of nations.

Resource appraisal is very significant for micro-enterprise development especially in rural areas. A developing economy like India needs entrepreneurs who are competent to perceive new opportunities and are willing to incur the necessary risks in exploiting them. Rural areas are infrastructurally poor and to take up any entrepreneurial venture in such a scenario appears to be enormous to the simple farmer who has been engaged in cultivating the land in a traditional manner. Developing agri-enterprises is needed urgently to enhance the productivity and incomes of the farmers from their ever shrinking agricultural lands.

1.1 Introduction

Broadcasting seed and harvesting meagre yields was a common method of ancient agriculture. High use of developed crop varieties, irrigation, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and farm mechanization is the main thrust of modern agriculture. Therefore, modern agriculture is an energy intensive farming system (Khan et al., 2010). Though modern technology based agriculture is achieving success to meet food demand of increasing global population, yet it creates many environmental issues such as loss of soil fertility, salinization and water scarcity.

2.1 Introduction

Present day agriculture is facing more challenges like negative impacts of climate change, depletion of natural resources, increase of input costs etc. The major causes for steady decline in agricultural sustainability include intensive cultivation with conventional tillage practices, reduction of soil organic matter, soil loss by water and wind erosion, reduction in infiltration rate, formation of soil crust and continuous practice of mono-cropping. Over the years, soil and water resources are continuously overexploited leading to reduction in use efficiency of irrigation and energy.

5.1 Introduction

Indian agriculture is now at crossroads. We have come a long way. Over the past five decades our strategies, policies and actions were guided by goals of ‘self sufficiency’ in foodgrain production with main focus on rice and wheat. Indian agriculture has been successful in achieving higher production of food grains to secure food security of the nation. While, the success for increasing food grain production has been achieved without major jump in the production and productivity of pulses in the country, this was accompanied by widespread problems of resource degradation, which now poses serious challenges to meet the demands of an increasing population and lifting our people above the poverty line.

3.1 Introduction

Rice is the main staple food for most of the world’s population and plays a key role to maintain food security of many countries. More than 90% of the rice production globally comes from Asia and also more than 90% of rice consumption is done in Asia (IRRI, 1997). In Asia, more than two billion people get almost 60-70 percent of their daily energy requirement from rice and its products (Yogeswari and Porpavai, 2018). As for India, since independence the country has witnessed a remarkable progress in rice production.

Introduction

After so many decades, the new education policy comes in its new form in 21st century. This policy seeks to offer everyone access to an equal, equitable, and fair education. The NEP 2020 represents a significant advancement in the field of education in India, with an emphasis on primary through higher education. It is based on the idea that education must foster the development of not only higher-order cognitive abilities-such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills-but also social, ethical, and emotional capacities and dispositions. These higher-order cognitive abilities include both the foundational abilities of literacy and numeracy and higher-order cognitive abilities. It includes- recognizing, identifying, and fostering each student’s individual abilities by educating parents and teachers to support a student’s overall growth in both academic and extracurricular areas, by the 3rd grade, all children will possess fundamental skills in literacy and numeracy, it will provide students multidisciplinary and holistic education to ensure the coherence and integrity of all knowledge. The policy manifested 22 guiding concept, some of them are conceptual comprehensive, flexibility and holistic development. These ideas will serve as the foundation for the whole Indian education system (Shamsu, 2021). The New Education Policy 2020 already incorporates vocational training for students’ holistic development, A study demonstrates a positive relationship between vocational choice of the subject and variables of personality, traits, parents’ involvement, achievements, motivation, and occupation information, (Kaur,1992)but including entrepreneurship in this policy would expose our students to more opportunities because entrepreneurship is the process of taking a risk to launch a new business with the intention of making a profit.

The purpose of this chapter is to provide sufficient information in order to arrive at a valid conclusion after the study has been completed. The chapter deals with the results and discussion of the study. In this chapter, tables and models are frequently utilized to provide support and supplement the materials that are presented in the text. It is helpful to interpret the findings of the study in the appropriate context and to relate them to other studies that are relevant to the topic at hand through discussion.

This table presents the distribution of 13 independent variables (x1-x13) and 5 dependent variables (y1-y5) in terms of their Minimum, Maximum, Mean, Standard deviation, Variance, and Coefficient of variation. Here, it is depicted that the average age (x1) of the respondents is 28.614 and thestandard deviation is 8.653. The C.V. value for the variable is 30.241. So, it indicatesthat the distribution of the variable is highly consistent. From the table, it is depicted that the average education (x2) of the respondents is 9.514. So, almost on average, the individual education is 9 for every respondent and standard deviation is 3.471. The C.V. value for the variable is 36.486. So, it indicates that the distribution of the variables is fairly consistent. From the table, it is depicted that the mean family size (x3) of the respondents is 4.143. So,almostonanaverage,the family size is 4 for every respondent.The value of standard deviation is 1.477. The C.V. value for the variable is 35.657. So, it indicates that the distribution of the variable is fairly consistent. From the table, it is depicted that the mean income per year (x4) of the respondents is 143142.857. The value of standard deviation is 67274.537. The C.V. value for the variable is 46.998. So, it indicates that the distribution of the variables is fairlyconsistent. Here, it is depicted that the mean per capita income (x5) of the respondents is 39880.400. So, almost on an average, the per capita income is 40000 for every respondent. The value of standard deviation is 26024.645. The C.V. value for thevariable is 65.257. So, it indicates that the distribution of the variables is fairly consistent. From the table, it is depicted that the mean Workplace distance (x6) of the respondents is 3.008. So, almost on an average, the Workplace distance is 3 for every respondent.The value of standard deviation is1.817. The C.V. value for the variable is 60.392. So,it indicates that the distribution of the variables is fairly consistent.

Results and Discussion:

Concept Result is the outcome, consequences or conclusion of a problem, probe or experiment organized after a period of time. This conclusion can be one result, multiple results or no result as such. The length of time taken to find a result can vary from less than a second to many years. In this chapter the result of the Research has been elaborated and also discussed later.

The purpose of the discussion/revelation is to interpret and describe the significance of our findings in light of what was already known about the research problem being investigated, and to explain any new understanding or insights about the problem, after we have taken the findings into consideration. The discussion will always connect to the introduction by way of the research questions or hypothesis we posed and the literature we reviewed, but it does not simply repeat or rearrange the introduction and the discussion always explain how our study has moved towards the research problem.

Here, it is depicted that the average age (x1) of the respondents is 50.307. The C.V. value for the variable is 18.521. So, it indicates that the distribution of the variable is highly consistent.

From the table it is depicted that the average education (x2) of the respondents is 7.600. So, almost on an average the individual education is 8 for every respondent. The C.V. value for the variable is 41.553. So, it indicates that the distribution of the variable is fairly consistent.

This chapter deals with the findings of the study along with the discussion based on the analysis. This study tried to represent its findings as per the objectives of the study. At the end of this chapter, interrelation has been made, explanation has been tried to put out down and attempt has been done to reveal the cause behind it. The results and their pertaining discussion are presented according to the specific objectives of the study.

This table 6.1 presents the distribution of 15 independent variables (x1-x15 ) in terms of their Minimum, Maximum, Mean, Variance, Standard deviation, and Coefficient of variation.

The provided table displays the distribution characteristics of seven dependent variables (y1-y6 ) and 18 independent variables (x1-x18 ). It includes their minimum, maximum, mean, variance, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation.

In terms of the respondents' average age (x1 ), the graph indicates a value of 48.17, which suggests a highly consistent distribution with a coefficient of variation (C.V.) of 19.24.

Similarly, the table reveals that the respondents' average level of education (x2 ) is 7.02, indicating an average education duration of around seven years per respondent. The variable demonstrates a fairly consistent distribution with a C.V. of 41.72.

Examining the respondents' average years of business experience (x3 ), the table indicates a mean value of 21.05. This implies a similar level of business experience across most respondents, with a fairly consistent distribution and a C.V. of 47.54.

Regarding the typical family size (x4 ), the table shows an average value of 3.92, indicating an approximate average family size of four. The distribution of this variable is also fairly consistent, with a C.V. of 37.21. The mean family education (x5 ) of the respondents is reported as 2.58, which corresponds to an average education level of 3 for the families. The variable exhibits a fairly consistent distribution, with a C.V. of 38.14.

The results of Focus Group Discussions and Field Level Workshops (Tables presented at the end of toolkit) conducted with different stakeholders mentioned in the methodology revealed that, communication skills, soft skills, leadership development skills, personal and professional development skills followed by entrepreneurship development skills are more important and needed to perform job effectively at field level extension work (Table 1).

This section forms the crux of this research. Here, the data collected as per the research methodology explained in previous chapter has been analysed, results were obtained and discussed. The data were classified, tabulated and then treated with scientific methods to get the results.

After tabulation, the results were interpreted to bring out emphatically the most striking relationship between the variables. The results are presented in the form of tables, graphs and figures.

The Review of literature is a systematic, explicit and reproducible method of identifying, evaluating and synthesizing the existing body of a completed and a recorded work produced by researchers, scholars and practitioners. The Review of literature is also a resource paper which includes the current knowledge including substantive findings as well as the theoretical and the methodological contributions to a particular topic. These are available mostly in academic and scholastic journals.

Review of literature provide the basics for research in nearly every academic f ield. This chapter is an extensive survey of all past studies relevant to the field of investigation which gives knowledge of what others have found out in the related field of study. In any scientific investigation or research, a comprehensive presentation of the review of literature is a statutory requirement.

The aim of review of literature is to highlight what has been done so far in the field of interest and how our findings are related to earlier research.

Its main functions are to develop a better understanding of the problem to be investigated, delineate a new area of study and avoid unnecessary duplication, decide on the tools and techniques to be adopted including developing some new ones and also to relate the present study with the previous ones by finding out the areas of agreement and disagreement.

The review of literature may

(a) Indicate the following by providing referential inputs – Approaches, Methods, Variables used, Statistical procedure, Expected results.

(b) Provide theoretical background to the study.

(c) Help to justify how the findings are related to the body of knowledge in the f ield of research.

(d) Establish a link between what we have proposed to study and what has already been found. It helps us to refine the research methodology.

A thorough examination of relevant literature is crucial in any scientific investigation and research. Apart from identifying previous work conducted in the problem area or the specific field of study, the primary function of a literature review is to provide insights into the methods and procedures used, while also establishing a foundation for interpreting the findings. A literature review involves a comprehensive and critical assessment of prior research, offering a summary and overview of a particular research area. This allows readers to understand why the current research program is being pursued. A well-executed literature review delves into the reasons behind selecting a specific research question, integrating and evaluating previous studies, and demonstrating how they relate to the proposed research program. It is important to present all sides of the argument in a clear manner to avoid bias, while also highlighting areas of agreement and disagreement among the existing literature.

In this chapter, we have attempted to provide a concise overview of various studies and writings related to migration. This overview serves to enhance our understanding of the significance and purpose of our current research. Some relevant reviews have been categorized and presented under the following sub headings:

Farmers require a diverse range of information to support their farm enterprises. Information is needed not only on best practices and technologies for crop production, but also for post -harvest aspects. Agricultural Extension is an essential pillar for research and development in agriculture. Despite a wide range of reform initiatives in agricultural extension in India in the past decades, the coverage of, access to, and quality of information   provided to marginalized and poor farmers is uneven. Approaches to agricultural extension in India and worldwide continue to evolve.

It is an organized set up to provide micro credit to the rural women on the strength of the group savings without insisting on any collateral security for the purpose of encouraging them to enter in to entrepreneurial activities and for making them enterprising women (Gurumoorthy, 2000).

Puhanzhendi and Badatya (2002) find that the SHG programme has a positive social impact.

Rajamohan (2003) stated that SHG is a medium for the development of saving habit among the women.

Jeyasudha (2004) reported that eradication of poverty and the ushering in of speedy socioeconomic progress is the goal with which the developmental programmes are being implemented through a multipronged strategy, reaching out to the most disadvantaged sections of the society. She placed the concept of rural development at the top of agenda in national policies of developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. The developed countries have also recognized this need and have directed their efforts towards meeting the basic needs of the poorest people in developing countries.

2.1. Introduction

There are few studies on the performance and efficiency of Indian commodity derivatives market. Despite a considerable amount of empirical literature, there is no general consensus on whether or not the markets are efficient. As far as the role of futures contract in agricultural commodity is concerned, several studies have been attempted to examine their contribution towards agricultural development of any state and/or country. This chapter presents the review of existing literature on the concerned topic based on interrelationship among the spot and futures market in agricultural sector, role of futures market in discovering spot prices, futures market and commodity price volatility etc.

The journey through the research work and the resultant publication of research articles, review notes and books by innumerable authors in the field of Information Technology, and Communication, Library Sciences, Social Media and Popular Culture has been the basis for this chapter: The Review of Literature. The following is a report of how and what lead to arrive at the objectives, hypotheses and methods of researching this field and the concerns of the researchers and the authors. Reading innumerable articles, research papers, and books helped in writing this literature review strengthened the knowledge about the topic of this study. It has been of immense use to learn essential concepts, research methods, and experimental techniques used in this field. Another benefit of the extensive reading of relevant literature has been the knowledge and understanding of how to present the insights, research findings, and claims discussed and explained scientifically and systematically. Through this reading exercise, the topic of the research and its objectives were finalized. 

Introduction

This chapter reviews literature related to the current study on Quality of Work Life (QWL). Scrutiny of the available literature is of great value in gaining insight into the research problem. It is beneficial for strengthening the research problem. As there are fewer studies on QWL in the university libraries in Kerala, the works reported in other places were also reviewed. A Literature Review is a systematic and comprehensive analysis of books, articles and research papers to a specific topic providing a base of knowledge on the topic. Literature reviews are designed to identify and critique the existing literature on a topic to justify your research by exposing gaps in current research. This investigation should provide a description, summary, and critical evaluation of works related to the research problem and should also add to the overall knowledge of the topic as well as demonstrating how your research will fit within a larger field of study. A literature review should offer critical analysis of the current research on a topic and that analysis should direct your research objective. This should not be confused with a book review or an annotated bibliography both research tools but very different in purpose and scope. Key to a good Literature Review is to document your process.

A literature review is an organized, in-depth examination of books, journals, and research papers related to a particular subject that serves as a foundation of knowledge. By pointing out gaps in the present body of knowledge, literature reviews aim to identify and evaluate the body of existing research on a certain subject in order to support your own study. This inquiry needs to include an explanation, synopsis, and critical assessment of previous studies pertaining to the research challenge. It should also contribute to the body of knowledge on the subject and show how your findings will fit into a broader body of knowledge. Your research goal should be guided by the critical examination of the most recent research on the subject provided by a literature review. This is not the same as a book review or an annotated bibliography, which are research instruments with quite distinct goals and purposes. Writing a process document is essential to a successful literature review.
Purpose
A literature review’s objectives are to:
• Offer a solid foundation of information on the subject.
• Locate areas of earlier study to avoid repetition and to acknowledge the contributions of other experts.
• Determine the need for further research (include evidence to support your findings).
• Determine how one piece relates to the other and to the theme in the context of both.
• Set your own research in the framework of previously published works that argue for the necessity for further research.

The purpose of the study is to gather and use pertinent data to further the primary goalsof the investigation. Any review of literature revolves around the work’s origin, author, chronology, and significant content that have an obvious impact on the current study. It begins with a history for gaining into posterity through current status.

A. Health, Hygiene and Nutrition of Rural Women
Imtiaz et al., 2014, conducted a descriptive cross- sectional study from March to June 2012 to evaluate the personal hygiene practices among rural women in a particular Bangladeshi community. In order to evaluate two fundamental aspects of personal hygiene, hand washing and access to clean drinking water, 150 women of varying ages were chosen from the villages of Garibpur and Tangurpur in Jessore district. A convenient non-probability sampling technique was used and data was gathered by face- to- face interview using semi-structured questionnaire. Among the respondents 87.33% had some form of schooling, 12.67% were illiterate. The majority of the participants almost 87.34% had washed their hands before eating, 13.74% before eating break fastand none of the respondents washed their hands before consuming any dry food. Themajority of the respondents almost 95.34% washed their hands after urinating; among them 82% used soaps, 16% used ash and 2% used earth. To lead a healthy- life it is crucial to practise good personal cleanliness and to utilise safe drinking water. They should be regularly inspired to do so through health education activities. Rao et al., 2012, carried out a study on Indian women’s diet and nutritional status. Women’s status in society has an impact on their health. Female infanticide, a higher death rate, a lower sex ratio, low literacy rates and a lower level of employment for women in the workforce are just a few examples of how the demographic consequences of women have manifested themselves. The degree of women’s nutritional status is influenced by the cultural norms, practices, and socio-economic consideration. Bureau of National Nutrition Monitoring has conducted periodical surveys on diet and nutritional status of various population groups since 1972.For the objective of this inquiry, information on the food and nutritional status of the tribal and rural population in nine Indian states was gathered in 1998-99 and 2005-06 respectively. Rural and tribal women consumed fewer calories overall than recommended, with the exception of various vegetables, roots and tuber. The study found that women who were pregnant or nursing had in sufficient nutritional intake, particularly a micronutrient shortage that is termed as hidden hunger. Nearly 4.9% of tribal women had a substantially greater prevalence of goitre. Tribal women suffer from under nourishment and have more prevalence of chronic energy in sufficiency than rural women.

Ancient Sanskrit classics like the Rig Veda (C 3000-2000 BC), Ramayana (C 1200-1300 BC), Mahabharata (before the 4th Century BC), Shudraka (C 100 BC), Ashvagodha (C 100 AD), Kalidasa (C 400 AD), and Sarangdhara (C. 400 AD) all make mention of flowers and gardens (C 1200 AD)(Dadlani, 2021).In many nations around the world, growing flowers is one of the industries’ tactics. India began producing flowers a few years ago, and the industry is now one of the nation’s major areas for expansion and change. Both socially and economically, floriculture is very advantageous. The trade in cut flowers has grown dramatically recently, both domestically and internationally. The freshness of the flowers for a longer period of time without losing their aesthetic value is what gives a flower its attractiveness. There is a massive loss in the value of cut flowers along the marketing channel, which may be 50% of the farm’s worth (Bhattacharjee, 1999).

Modern technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data have made robotics, a concept that dates back to ancient times, much more advanced. The area of robotics, originally used in industrial settings, has now expanded its scope to include a diverse range of industries, such as industrial robots, medical robots, military robots, space robots, and humanoid robots that adopt human-like characteristics.

In accordance with this existing structure, libraries have additionally adopted the use of robots, which have shown enhanced efficacy and capabilities in executing diverse library functions. A significant number of libraries around the world have used humanoid robots to facilitate a variety of library functions, including STEM education initiatives. Academic institutions such as the Chicago Public Library and the University of Rhode Island Library organize programs centered on robotics.

Libraries may become obsolete in the 21st century if they do not begin to harness new technology and improve their information and service delivery. Robots come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they serve a variety of functions. It is difficult to define the purpose of a specific robot and its categories because each robot has its distinct feature and varies in size, shape, color, and components.

From this point of view, the use of RFID technology is very important. RFID consists of four components vis Tags, Antenna, RFID Reader and Software. Though its use, we make the work of circulation easier, we can identify any missing documents very easily. After all, we can say that no document can be taken out of the library without a proper way. So there is acceptance of stock verification work.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food of over half the world’s people and is grown on approximately 146 million hectares, more than 10 per cent of total available land. Ninety seven per cent of the world’s rice is grown by less developed countries, mostly in Asia. Post harvest losses are considered to be contributed by storage alone, and not much attention was paid to losses occurring during harvesting, transport, threshing, drying, milling and pre-milling treatments. Quantitative loss of food grains was the main concern of the producers and the consumers. Qualitative losses at various stages were not fully recognized, but systematic studies by different organizations revealed that these losses are enormous and should be prevented. These losses cumulatively could be as high as 40 per cent and are normally accompanied by loss of quality also. Quality loss of products can take place at all stages but more particularly during drying or curing of harvested crops, storage, and milling and pre-milling treatments. Post-harvest attention is essential if the grains of higher production are to be fully exploited. Also the quality loss occurring in food grains can be extremely serious if the farming community is not aware of them.

This chapter identifies the physical, environmental and psychosocial risk factors that can compromise worker health and performance. Repetitive movements, awkward postures, excessive force, static positions, contact stress, vibration, poor lighting and unsuitable temperatures are examined as common ergonomic hazards. Their consequences include musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue, reduced concentration, stress, absenteeism and chronic disability. The chapter introduces ergonomic risk-assessment methods and tools such as REBA, RULA and the NIOSH Lifting Equation. It also presents a hierarchy of control measures covering engineering redesign, administrative controls, safer work practices and protective equipment. Workplace examples demonstrate how systematic intervention can reduce injuries while improving productivity and employee satisfaction.

Rural youth are enthusiastic and they can act as good leaders as their orientation is scientific. Youth support family farming as well as perform gender specific activities. They are said to be the key to sustainable and innovative development. Investment in rural youth is the key to country‘s progress and boost economic opportunities. Rural youth of today want that their capabilities should be utilized for producing food and for conserving productive resources in rural environment. Their mental skills make them different from others so Govt. should adopt such policies that mark the correct value of their skill. This research paper emphasizes the role of rural youth in agriculture and family farming and what are their aspirations from this sector.

Agriculture is an important sector of Indian economy that contributes about 17% to the total GDP and provides employment to over 60% of the population. But, the villages are becoming poorer and poorer and only older generations are left there to do the agricultural operations. During the past two years, cost of food items like grains, pulses, oil and vegetables are increasing, month after month. Family farming is the best approach to produce agricultural products economically, utilizing locally available resources and crop residues and manpower very efficiently and sustainably. Family farming is a way of life” - there are unique advantages - the security of access and control over resources, meeting multiple needs of the family – food and income, the relationships with nature, the bonding with the past, present and future; ensuring freedom from external exploitation as well as freedom to do your own way. Family farms as multipurpose enterprises have been serving as buffers in times of disasters, as glue of social bonding, often functioning as a ’value web’ between farming families and communities. The United Nations defines youth as young men and women from age 15 to 24. The present situation of rural youth in developing countries can generally be characterized by illiteracy, lack of educational and training opportunities, unemployment, under-employment and the flight of large numbers of rural youth to the cities. There are serious challenges too – stifling and non supportive policy environment, lack of extension system to handle the farmer’s distinct needs and capacities, and lastly ‘converting’ family farms to be ‘business like’ models. However, successful pilots can become big impact programmes, for instance, as in Andhra Pradesh, through NGO-GO collaboration. Hence, rural youth need to be prepared in: (a) improving their capabilities to produce food and to conserve productive resources in the rural environment, (b) improving skills and abilities in undertaking income-generating activities in rural areas, (c) relieving population pressure and improving nutrition and the well-being of farming families and (d) developing leadership and the ability to work well with others in group and community situations.

Human resource development is a continuous process to ensure the development of employee dynamism, effectiveness, competencies and motivation in a systematic and planned manner.

Compared to the previous decades, the scope and power of intellectual property rights (IPRs) in agriculture and biotechnology has grown substantially and their international reach has expanded. The IP regime has set up the stage for healthy competition among research centres and industries for developing and seeking novel technologies. However, compared to developed countries, once the technology is created, not much attention is paid in the developing nations on their commercial, policy, environmental, ethical and societal implications. Hence, better techniques are needed for their management, to create policy and educate professionals to commercialize and govern them. Due to the critical role of technology in a competitive environment, strategic technology management is important for farmers and agri-enterprises too. The translation of nascent technologies into new products/ services and their commercialization requires some amount of hand-holding, mentoring and incubation support.

ABSTRACT

Ethical conduct of research is utmost important which form the basis of overall development of society. Academic institutions can play key role in promoting scientific integrity by creating awareness about scientific misconduct and can frame policies to curb scientific misconduct. As a part of course curriculum knowledge about various issues related to academic integrity can be easily passed to young researchers and students of the institution. Awareness programs can play significant role in promoting research integrity for which academic libraries can be the frontrunner. Librarians’ role is also changing as they have not limited themselves to traditional services but are also providing web based services to the users. They can support research community by providing services like reference management through the use of reference management tools and data management and preservation services. Faculty development programs are also helping the working librarians to update their knowledge. This article discuss about the concept of academic integrity and role of academic institution in promoting it in general and library in particular. PA U library faculty has taken a lead in raising the awareness of students and researchers about research and publication ethics by teaching this course to as part of the course curriculum to research scholars and post graduate students of the university. It is also facilitating teaching community and researchers in plagiarism checking of the manuscripts through the use of antiplagiarism software.
