Introduction 
Artificial intelligence (AI) has undoubtedly had an important influence in the restructuring of higher education by altering traditional teaching techniques and opening the way for long-term growth and innovation. This paradigm shift is distinguished by the usage of sophisticated software algorithms, data mining models, and data analytics into pedagogical and administrative practices. AI technologies have the potential to transform higher education by improving individualized learning experiences, streamlining institutional procedures, and enabling novel research approaches. Universities and colleges that embrace AI technology can not only better prepare students for the problems of tomorrow’s labor market, but also make important contributions to accomplishing sustainable development goals (Lomine, 2024). The inclusion of AI into higher learning is about more than just keeping up with technical breakthroughs; it is about completely altering the educational landscape to satisfy the demands of a digitally native population. Furthermore, the use of AI in this domain not only promises to improve educational outcomes, but it also poses important concerns regarding equity, ethics, and educators’ future role. Artificial intelligence (AI) has undeniably transformed the structure of higher learning, providing a blueprint for long-term progress and innovation in academia. The prospect of AI to revolutionize traditional education techniques and drive long-term growth for future leaders is unsurpassed. Aggarwal, Sharma, & Saxena (2023) proposed that incorporating AI into higher education is critical for educating graduates for the dynamic needs of tomorrow’s labor market as well as also building a more inclusive and forward-thinking academic environment. This paradigm shift toward integrating AI in academia has the capacity to generate a lively and efficient learning ecosystem which suits the different demands of students while also giving real-time feedback to improve academic achievement and retention rates. Furthermore, the application of AI in academic settings can transform research processes by enabling data-driven insights, boosting interdisciplinary partnerships, and hastening the pace of innovation in a variety of disciplines of study.

Introduction 
In the past, literacy in reading, writing and mathematics was considered the basis of establishment in society. With this knowledge, anyone could run all the businesses of his professional life efficiently because no technical skills other than typewriter and general computer knowledge were required. In present set up, this general knowledge is no longer enough to perform any task smoothly today. In this age of science and technology, the old concept of literacy is no longer applicable. Three other types of literacy or skills have now been added to the past concept of literacy: information literacy, technological literacy and human literacy. In this age of technology, people cannot keep themselves functional in this digitized world by practical knowledge of analog equipment alone. In present days, people live and work on the constant flow of big data, connections, and instant information flowing from every click and touch of a device. Technology is not static. Evernew technological advancement brings tides of data before people, therefore, they need data literacy to read, analyze and use them. Technological literacy gives them grounding in coding and engineering principles, so they know how their machines tick. Ultimately, human literacy teaches them the humanities, communication and design, allowing them to work in human environments. Artificial intelligence (AI) is now a fact of everyday life in our modern hightech societies. There are many definitions of AI and each of those definitions has been revised over time. Presently, most definitions state that AI solves complex cognitive problems associated with human intelligence or that AI helps as many people as possible through smartphones or healthcare, or even that AI recognizes problems and creates solutions for the benefit of technology, people, and society. However, the core concept of AI has continuously been to create machines that were capable of thinking like humans. It took about 200,000 years for human intelligence to evolve from natural to artificial and only 10 years to cut ties with the Earth and move to the clouds. During the creation of AI, mankind learned a lot about what it means to be human, how human intelligence is structured, and how humans learn and acquire expertise. With more predictive power, more efficiency and the ability to deliver better results than humans, AI is rapidly moving aside from humans into the world of expertise. However, it is impossible to imagine that someone else will replace Homo sapiens at this moment, but its probability cannot be ruled out in the days to come. The day, when mankind, in the course of time, will immerse in the world of knowledge, robotics becomes an essential part of the human body and existence, the existence of mankind is sure to be threatened. In October 2017, Saudi Arabia granted citizenship to humanoid Sofia. Perhaps this is a new breed of human being brought about by technology in the 21st century. Just as the message of the first driverless car aroused a lot of curiosity among mankind and now that curiosity has disappeared completely, it is likely that the arrival of many Sophia’s will make the environment very normal in the coming days. So here comes AI – Artificial Intelligence, the driving force behind Sophia or Driverless cars. The very simple definition of artificial intelligence is -the intelligence displayed by machines. Today, in this age of science and technology, we can say that anything imaginable by humans can be done with the help of machines. Sundar Pichai, CEO Google and Alphabet in his article “The promise of AI for India and the World” opined that every technology shift is an opportunity to advance scientific discovery, accelerate human progress and improve lives. AI will do this on an unprecedented scale and India is uniquely positioned to play a leading role.

Introduction 
Inclusive education means including all children in the same classrooms, in the same schools. It means real learning opportunities for groups who have traditionally been excluded – not only children with disabilities, but speakers of minority languages too. The school and classroom operate on the premise that students with disabilities are as fundamentally competent as students without disabilities. Therefore, all students can be full participants in their classrooms, in the local school community and in the societies they live in. Much of the movement is related to legislation that students receive their education in the least restrictive environment (LRE). This means they are with their peers without disabilities to the maximum degree possible, with general education the placement of first choice for all students (Alquraini & Gut, 2012). Inclusive education in India has evolved significantly over time. Initially, education for children with disabilities was largely segregated, with specialized institutions being the primary option. The shift towards inclusion began gaining momentum in the late 20th century, influenced by global movements and national policies. Key milestones include the 1992 National Policy on Education, which emphasized inclusive practices, and the 2009 Right to Education Act, which mandated free and compulsory education for all children, including those with disabilities. Recent initiatives have focused on improving accessibility, teacher training and integrating students with diverse needs into mainstream classrooms, reflecting a growing commitment to equitable educational opportunities for all. Contemporary inclusive education in India is characterized by a growing commitment to integrating students with diverse needs into mainstream schools, supported by various policies and initiatives. The 2016 Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and the 2020 National Education Policy underscore the importance of inclusive practices, advocating for accessible infrastructure, specialized training for educators, and individualized support for students. Despite these advancements, challenges remain, including inadequate resources, a shortage of trained teachers, and varying levels of implementation across different regions. Efforts are ongoing to address these issues, aiming to create an educational environment where all students, regardless of their abilities, have the opportunity to succeed and thrive. The emerging importance of an inclusive education system in India reflects a growing recognition of diversity and equality in the educational landscape. This shift is driven by the realization that inclusive education not only promotes social justice but also enhances academic and social outcomes for all students. Introduction 
NEP was announced by Sri Narendra Modi, the PM of India on July 29,2020. The system was introduced after the debates by experts from various fields. The earlier education system was 10+2+3 which changed to 5+3+3+4.The NEP 2020 have less curriculum contents and increases learning, reasoning and logical skills. After the completion of UG courses in the higher education they may opt for the Research Methodology. The 5+3+3+4 design is equivalent to the age groups 3-8 years, the foundational stage which is mainly based on play or activity based learning, 8-11 years, the preparatory stage which is based on play, discovery, activity based and interactive classroom learning, 11-14 years, the middle stage is based on experiential learning in Science, Mathematics, Arts, Social Science and Humanities and 15-18 years, the secondary stage emphasized on multidisciplinary study, greater critical thinking, flexibility, student choice of subjects. Government will constitute a Gender Composition plan to provide equal and standard education to all girls and third gender learners. 10th and 12th standard students are no longer to sit for board exams which will be accessible to test core competencies rather than memorised facts with all students allowed to take the exam twice. Internships will be started from 6th standard. The teaching upto 5th standard will be in regional languages and mother tongue. The assessment covers reforms with 360 degrees overall progress report tracking the progress for achieving learning outcomes. Within 2030, the B.Ed degree duration will be 4 years. The holistic U.G education will be having several exit options and certification will be provided.

Introduction
Dystopian literature has emerged as a powerful genre for exploring societal anxieties, particularly in the context of environmental degradation, social inequity, and unsustainable practices. In recent years, these narratives have become increasingly relevant as global discussions around sustainable development intensify. Dystopian works like The Hunger Games by Collins (2008) and The Road by McCarthy (2006) are not only popular cultural phenomena but also significant texts that offer critical reflections on the consequences of unsustainable practices. As Suzanne Collins writes in The Hunger Games, “Destroying things is much easier than making them,” a sentiment that captures the destructive trajectory of unsustainable practices that both novels explore. This paper aims to examine how dystopian narratives, with a particular focus on The Hunger Games and The Road, contribute to sustainable development discourse. By analyzing the themes of resource depletion, environmental control, and social inequality, this study situates these narratives within eco-critical and dystopian studies frameworks, offering a deeper understanding of how literature shapes perceptions of sustainability. Thus, in this paper, an attempt has been made to explore how dystopian literature reflects concerns about sustainability, encourages critical thinking about the future of the environment and society, and emphasizes the importance of equitable, sustainable practices for survival.

As one of the biggest youth demographics worldwide, especially in India Gen Z, represents a distinct consumer segment defined by their digital fluency and progressive values. Their deep integration with technology has reshaped traditional shopping habits, making e-commerce platforms central to their purchasing decisions (Smith, 2020). This generation highly values health and sustainability, pushing e-commerce platforms to address these priorities. This shift is crucial in meeting the evolving behaviours of Gen Z, who emphasize wellness and environmental considerations in their purchasing choices. E-commerce platforms possess powerful tools that influence consumer behaviour, especially with the Gen Z demographic. This generation is well known for its tech-savviness and strong social and environmental consciousness and responds uniquely to online marketing strategies. E-commerce platforms are pivotal in shaping Gen Z’s health and sustainability practices. They achieve this by providing a wide variety of wellness-oriented products and information, which assists in educating and motivating consumers about healthy lifestyle. Additionally, these platforms feature eco-friendly products and promote sustainable practices, aligning the Gen Z’s growing concern for environmental issues. The choice of this topic was inspired by a few things such as health consciousness and sustainable consumption. This interdisciplinary topic combines insights from consumer psychology, digital marketing, and environmental science, offering valuable implications for businesses and policymakers aiming to engage this tech-savvy generation effectively. The focus on this emerging area of research helps fill gaps in existing literature and provides strategic guidance for optimizing digital commerce strategies. Case studies on MyFitnessPal and Nike’s Move to Zero initiative demonstrate how an e-commerce platform can promote health awareness and sustainable consumption among Gen Z. This topic will aid businesses and marketers in customizing their online strategies to align with Gen Z’s emphasis on health and sustainability. It assists policymakers and environmental organizations in formulating improved practices and regulations for responsible consumption. Developers of e-commerce platforms can leverage these insights to design features that align with users’ values. For researchers, it enriches the understanding of consumer behaviour and digital marketing. Finally, it helps consumers to make more informed decisions by demonstrating how e-commerce influences their health and environmental choices.

Introduction 
Sustainable development is one of the most important concepts in a business organization. In order to satisfy all the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own requirements, sustainable development is a comprehensive strategy to growth. In order to build a stable and equitable future, it incorporates social inclusion, economic progress, and environmental conservation. The “three pillars” or “three dimensions” of sustainability—economic, social, and environmental—are frequently used to frame the idea of sustainable development. The North East Indian state of Assam’s cultural and economical legacy has an intricate connection to the long and prosperous past of the Assam Silk Industry. From the very ancient times, the production of silk from silkworm and weaving into beautiful garments can be seen in this part of the region.Evidence indicates that the cultivation of silk and weaving were well established in the region by the first millennium BCE, incorporating thousands of years to the cultural heritage of silk weaving in Assam.The indigenous communities of Assam, particularly the Bodo-Kacharis, have been identified for spreading sericulture to the area. Assam produces three types of silk, namely Muga Silk which is also termed as Golden Muga, Pat Silk and Eri or Endi Silk. Also known as the “Golden Silk”, Muga Silk is unique only to Assam and hugely popular because of its natural sheen which increases with each wash. The silk is produced by a special silkworm Antheraea assamensiswhich is endemic to Assam. The town of Sualkuchi, in the Kamrup district of Assam, India, is home to the well-known traditional silk-weaving industry. Sualkuchi, dubbed the “Manchester of Assam,” is well-known for its superior silk goods, especially those crafted from Assamese-only Muga, Eri, and Pat silk(Ghosh, 2021; (Rajesh et al., 2020) The Assam Silk is considered as one of the finest in regional, national and international market because of its superior quality, bright colors and attractive designs. It has a good amount of potential to boost the economic development of Assam. Despite having such importance, it has been observed that the silk industry is facing a lot of problems which is causing a major setback in its growth. The Silk Industry of Assam is highly unorganized because there are less or no educated laborers which results in shortage of agricultural laborers ultimately leading to production shortage. The Assam silk industry, known for producing exquisite silk varieties like Muga, Eri, and Pat silk, faces several marketing challenges that hinder its growth and global competitiveness. Despite being geographically unique particularly Muga Silk, its brand identity is not widely recognized in outside the market. Its reach is restricted to premium and high-end fashion markets due to this lack of worldwide awareness. The majority of Assam’s silk output is limited to local and regional markets. The industry’s minimal web presence and inadequate marketing infrastructure make it difficult for it to penetrate larger domestic and international markets. Silk from Assam is not sufficiently promoted in international forums. There are government initiatives; however, there is a lack of consistency and broad audience reach in marketing activities. In marketplaces where there is competition, this causes the silk to be less visible.Producing Assam silk, particularly Muga silk, requires a lot of work and money. The final product’s high cost of manufacture restricts its customer base to a premium market niche. This lowers total sales and narrows the target market.

In order to ensure that future generations can prosper, sustainable development is an all-encompassing strategy that aims to strike a balance between social equity, environmental protection, and economic growth. The inclusion of genderresponsive policies is one of this agenda’s most important but often ignored components. Encouraging inclusive and sustainable development outcomes requires acknowledging and addressing the unique needs and contributions of different genders. Empowering women and other marginalized genders have positive effects on resilience, economic productivity, and environmental stewardship that go beyond local communities. Policies that are gender responsive aim to address systemic disparities by advancing equal opportunities and involvement in decision-making. These policies seek to empower marginalized groups while also utilizing their distinct viewpoints and skills to tackle urgent global issues. Women are important in agriculture and natural resource management, for example, so their input is essential in developing environmental policies that work. Gender considerations can be effectively integrated into development frameworks to produce more comprehensive solutions that lead to sustainable outcomes. In addition, promoting gender parity is not just a question of justice but also a critical component of sustainable development. Greater gender parity is associated with faster economic growth and better social outcomes in nations, according to a wealth of research. Entire communities gain when women have access to economic opportunities, healthcare, and education. In order to achieve sustainable development goals and make sure that no one is left behind, creating gender-responsive policies is therefore not just an ethical duty but also a practical necessity. In conclusion, examining the relationship between gender and sustainable development can help us better understand the many issues our world is currently facing. Gender-responsive policies should be given top priority so that we can help everyone reach their full potential and encourage creativity and resilience. This strategy opens the door for a more sustainable and inclusive future by promoting equitable development and bolstering our group’s capacity to handle social, economic, and environmental issues.

1.1 Introduction to Sustainable Energy
The idea of sustainable energy has come to light in the twenty-first century as the globe struggles with rising energy demands, environmental degradation, and the menacing threat of climate change. It offers hope and a way forward for a more promising future. A major change in the production, distribution, and consumption of energy resources is what sustainable energy entails. It is a paradigm that includes a range of clean and renewable energy sources, technologies, and methods with the goal of supplying our energy demands with the least amount of harm to the environment (Andrews and Shabani, 2014). 1.2 Importance of Sustainable Energy Sources Sustainable energy is of paramount importance due to several interconnected reasons listed below and shown in Figure 1:
1.2.1 Environmental Concerns: For many years, conventional fossil fuelbased
energy sources like coal, oil, and natural gas have formed the foundation of our energy system. But as they burn, greenhouse gases (GHGs) mostly carbon dioxide (CO2) are released into the environment (Hosseini and Wahid, 2016). These greenhouse gases are the main causes of climate change, which raises global temperatures, brings on harsh weather, and raises sea levels. Conversely, sustainable energy sources are crucial for reducing climate change because they emit little or no greenhouse gases when in use.
1.2.2 Finite Nature of Fossil Fuels: Because fossil fuels are limited resources,
their stocks are running out quickly. The task that follows is to ensure that future generations have access to economical and dependable energy sources. Because they are renewable or endless, sustainable energy sources provide a solution to the problem of energy security (Su-Ungkavatin et al., 2023).
1.2.3 Economic Benefits: Making the switch to renewable energy can be
very profitable. It can improve national energy security and lessen trade deficits by fostering innovation, generating jobs, and lowering dependency on energy imports. Furthermore, because they frequently have lower operating and maintenance costs than fossil fuel-based systems, sustainable energy technologies can result in cost savings over time (Shafiei et al., 2015).

2.1 Introduction 
The world is encountering a severe power and environmental crisis. Adopting sustainable progress is the best means to protect our environment and maximise the use of available resources. The urgent issues, encompassing diverse types of pollution and carbon emissions, highlight the necessity to shift towards renewable energy sources. This shift is essential for diminishing our dependence on fossil fuels, addressing the on-going challenges regarding climate change, and confronting the exhaustion of current energy reserves. Furthermore, mitigating water pollution is an essential component of ensuring ecological sustainability [1,2]. Water supplies are rapidly being contaminated due to diverse contaminants including heavy metals, and harmful chemicals. While industrialization is critical for societal growth, it is critical to recognise the negative environmental consequences caused by numerous processes that emit hazardous substances. Improper disposal of untreated wastewater can negatively impact ecology and biodiversity [3]. As a result, it is critical to use environmentally friendly and sustainable treatment methods that adhere to green development principles. This will bolster industrialization efforts while upholding water pollution safeguards for recovery and reuse. Given the prevailing energy crisis, traditional wastewater treatment facilities have become financially unsustainable due to their high energy consumption. Traditional wastewater treatment is both costly and demands substantial energy resources. Furthermore, these approaches fall short of efficiently eradicating recalcitrant organic waste, heavy metals, and other persistent contaminants. Moreover, many of these treatment processes require regeneration. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology has emerged as an ecofriendly treatment option capable of effectively eliminating stubborn organic pollutants and heavy metals over the long term. Microbial fuel cells are chosen over other current treatment methods because to their reduced energy needs and lower chemical usage [4,5]. In addition to lowering energy usage, MFCs possess the ability to produce ample bioenergy, which can help alleviate the energy shortage. This provides a cleaner alternative for generating renewable energy in favour of sustainable development and environmental protection as depicted in Figure 2.1.

3.1 Introduction 
The continuous rise in CO2 levels is poised to culminate in a profound global warming impact. Projections suggest that by 2030, CO2 levels could nearly triple, driven by the burgeoning population of motor vehicles. This pressing issue underscores the urgency for the current generation to scrutinize its fuel choices and explore alternative options. Biomass emerges as a pivotal contender, offering a trinity of fuel phases. Escalating petroleum prices and growing apprehensions about the role of fossil fuels in contributing to global warming have spurred a quest for biofuels, recognized for their environmentally friendly attributes. The worldwide energy consumption has increased by an astounding 4 to 5% due to the combination of industrialization and the growing human population. Energy insecurity presents a number of puzzles, including rapidly decreasing fossil fuel reserves due to rapid industrialization, skyrocketing gasoline prices, growing dependence on Middle Eastern oil supplies, and the deleterious effect of fossil fuels on greenhouse gas emissions. Air pollution due to fossil fuel smoke from industries & transportation The UN's June 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro set the stage for addressing environmental issues such as acid rain and the greenhouse effect caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The goal of the Kyoto Protocol, an agreement between Russia, Japan, and Europe, is to reduce CO2 emissions. The ability of first-generation biofuels to lower CO2 emissions has drawn attention. But there is a lot of criticism about how they use land and how it affects the supply of food. A more complex option is provided by secondgeneration biofuels, which are made of leftover animal fat and lignocellulosic biomass. The third generation focuses on algae, namely single-celled organisms (SCO), as a viable substitute in the fuel industry. Within this discourse, "biofuels" refer to chemicals that are enhanced with energy. When burned, biofuels release fewer toxic emissions than fossil fuels, making them renewable resources. Furthermore, no carbon dioxide (CO2) is emitted into the environment by them; instead, any carbon released during combustion is absorbed by plants as they grow.

4.1 Introduction 
The growing recognition of biofuels as a competitive renewable energy source is increasingly evident, particularly when compared to the fossil fuel energy's limited supply, unstable geopolitical environment, and environmental repercussions associated with fossil fuel energy. In the broader context of renewable energy sources (RES), which are characterized as sustainable resources long-time availability at an affordable price and devoid of adverse effects, biofuels emerge as a promising category.(Charters, 2001) Biofuels include any type of energy-dense material that is either directly acquired from biological activities or is obtained through the chemical conversion of biomass from previous species.(Rodionova et al., 2017) Because biomass can be effectively converted into energy, biofuels play a crucial role in supplying energy needs and consumptions. The importance of biofuels in the global energy landscape is underscored by several factors, making them relevant technologies for both developing and industrialized countries.(Demirbas, 2007) Fuel, a concept central to energy discourse, encompasses substances that store and release energy when subjected to a chemical reaction. It serves as the lifeblood of energy systems, powering various sectors from transportation to electricity generation. The variety of fuels available is staggering; they include traditional petroleum-based fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas, in addition to renewable energy resources like solar and wind and, most crucially, biofuels and alternative energy sources like nuclear power.(M et al., 2023) Within the realm of biofuels, there exists a multifaceted spectrum, where each type offers unique advantages and applications. Bioethanol, derived primarily from crops such as corn and sugarcane, stands out as a prominent example. Biodiesel, synthesized from vegetable oils or animal fats, represents another significant category. Additionally, advanced biofuels, produced through cutting-edge technologies like cellulosic ethanol and algae-based biofuels, showcase the ongoing innovation within the biofuel industry.(Vickram et al., 2023) There are a number of reasons why people choose biofuels over conventional fuels, but their favorable effects on the environment are the main one. Unlike fossil fuels, biofuels present a renewable and sustainable option, as they are derived from organic materials that could be replenished. This contrasts starkly with the finite nature of fossil fuel resources, which are not only depleting but also contribute to ecological degradation. Moreover, the instability in the geopolitical landscape surrounding fossil fuels, with its attendant economic and security implications, further accentuates the appeal of biofuels as a more secure and resilient energy source.(Lee, Clark and Devereaux, 2008) When

Renewable and more eco-friendly sources of fuel must be a major concern of our nation for the betterment of our environment because a growing population requires more energy. Fossil fuels have played a significant role in driving the advancement of society, economy, and development. Fossil fuels are the most used sources for the fulfilment of energy requirements. The predominant source of energy on a global scale is fossil fuels, which account for 88% of total energy production (Li et al., 2019). These sources are finite and depleting sources and have a significant negative impact on the environment through the emission of greenhouse gases, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and particulate matter (Ritchie et al., 2023). These gases cause global warming by trapping heat, which causes climate change and its side effects, such as increased temperatures globally, more frequent and intense heat waves, and altered weather patterns (Solarin, 2020). In 2017, there was a 1.6% increase in CO2 emissions related to the combustion of fossil fuels, and this trend is anticipated to continue (Khoo et al., 2020). Fossil fuels, on the other hand, are non-renewable sources of energy that will deplete rapidly within fifty years (Chew et al., 2018). In an age marked by increasing environmental concerns and a growing urgency to combat climate change, the pursuit of sustainable and eco-friendly energy sources has never been more critical. Among the renewable energy options, biofuels have emerged as a prominent contender, holding the promise of reduced carbon emissions and a path toward a greener, more sustainable future (Takeuchi et al., 2002). Biofuels, derived from organic materials like trees algae, and waste, have attracted a lot of attention because they have the potential to lessen our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce the negative effects of climate change. Figure 5.1 shows the classification of biological feedstocks utilized in biofuels comprising four distinct generations: first, second, third, and fourth (Alalwan et al., 2019). Edible biomasses like sugar beet, corn, wheat, rice corn, etc come under the category of first generation. Since these feedstocks are in competition with food harvests for a specific quantity of land, fertilisers, and water, the viability of first-generation biofuels is subject to discussion (Paschalidou et al., 2016). Subsequently, the resources and energy utilised in the cultivation of feedstocks are inefficiently utilised, resulting in costly production. Furthermore, there exists a discourse surrounding the potential contribution of biofuel to the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). This is because certain biofuel varieties may generate negative net energy gains, thereby increasing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the production process. However, the most contentious topic continues to be the "food versus fuel" dilemma.

Introduction 
To fight climate change and lessen dependency on fossil fuels, the world urgently needs renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources. Hydrogen has become a promising energy carrier due to its versatility and capacity to generate energy from renewable resources without releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The world's demand for energy has been steadily increasing as a result of urbanization, economic expansion, and population rise. With an estimated 10 billion people on the earth by 2050, energy consumption is only expected to increase. Fossil fuels, which include oil, coal and gas have been widely used to generate energy and are predicted to do so at least until 2050 (see Fig.6.1) [1]. Figure 1. These fuels generate a large amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) during combustion, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), which is connected to climate change and global warming. In addition, burning fossil fuels releases particulate matter (PM), sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and other pollutants that are harmful for human health. In addition, the unequal distribution of fossil fuel supply has led to increased instability globally and worries about energy security. Numerous nations started making investments in energy from renewable sources as concerns about the environment and energy security have grown. Because they emit little to no greenhouse emissions, renewable energy resources like hydroelectricity, wind, and solar power contribute to lowering the energy industry's overall environmental impact (see Fig.6.2) [4].

This book chapter explores the dynamic world of solid and liquid biofuels, providing a thorough analysis of their properties, methods of production, uses, and wider ramifications in relation to renewable energy sources. Setting the scene, the introduction clarifies the role of biofuels in the larger context of renewable energy. Exploring solid and liquid biofuels becomes critical as the globe struggles with issues like climate change, depleting fossil fuel reserves, and the need to switch to cleaner energy sources[2]. These biofuels, which are defined as energy carriers made from biomass, offer a viable substitute and have the capacity to both reduce environmental impact and promote energy security. As the chapter progresses, biofuels are divided into two main categories: liquid and solid. Biofuels that are solid, such as wood, agricultural leftovers, pellets, and briquettes, serve as a starting point for investigating alternative energy sources. This section walks readers through the complexities involved in producing solid biofuel, including harvesting, pre-treatment, and creative pelletization methods. By doing this, it highlights the renewable nature of solid biofuels and their ability to lower greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting their benefits for the environment. Simultaneously, difficulties associated with its application, ranging from administrative worries to land use issues, are examined closely. Turning its attention to liquid biofuels, the chapter tells the story of ethanol, biodiesel, and advanced biofuels. By examining the choice of feedstock, manufacturing procedures, and real-world uses, it highlights the adaptability of liquid biofuels in the energy system. Although they are not without difficulties related to land use, food production, and water use, their ability to function with current infrastructure and their critical role in improving energy security stand out as distinguishing characteristics[3].

Introduction 
Augmented energy demand as well as impacts of employment of fossil coals on human health and environment, stresses and imposes the need to lessen the use of conventional fuels or replace them. Equally, global warming has stretched to a distressing level due to many diverse anthropogenic actions leading to increased pollution. The alternate energy sources are desirable that might be the conspicuous and sustainable approach of enabling environmental remediation, besides meeting the global energy call (Grosser et al 2016, Kanchanasutha et al 2016). A potential solution is generation of Biofuels, either conventional biofuels produced from agricultural crops or advanced biofuels produced from wastes, inedible crops or forestry products (Sreedevi Sarsan et al 2021). Advanced biofuels production especially by the utilization of agricultural and animal wastes using new technologies and processes are gaining increased interest among researchers and general public all over the world. Food waste, municipal trash, animal waste and other wastes can all be utilised as feedstocks to create biogas, a clean and sustainable energy source and thus may be the ideal replacement for traditional energy sources. The raw biomass may be converted into fuel products like biogas by briquetting, gasification, and anaerobic digestion, among other processes (Deepanraj et al 2015). In comparison to landfills, incinerations, and composting processes, anaerobic digestion (AD) is suggested as an inexpensive and environmentally benign technique for the generation of renewable energy (Van Forest et al 2012; Nishio et al 2007; Capson-Tojo et al 2016; Xu, F et al 2018; Cha, M et al 2020). The production of energy-rich biogas and alleviation of issues related to the removal of organic waste are all achieved by anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic solids (Sonakya et al 2001). This is since AD is a highly energy-efficient and ecologically benign technique. In an atmosphere devoid of oxygen, the AD system uses anaerobic microbes to transform the naturally occurring substances in the biomass into biogas. The primary byproduct of AD, biogas, has a methane content of roughly 50-70% by volume and 30- 40% atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) when feedstocks are digested under anaerobic circumstances, with small levels of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) (0.1-3% v/v), humidity, and other trace pollutants also present (Sahota et al. 2018). The generation of biogas is known to be influenced by factors such as waste types, pretreatment procedures, the microorganisms or enzymes added, operation circumstances and design of the digestors (Mao et al 2015).

Carbon rich solid residue named as biochar produced by heating biomass in a procedure recognized as pyrolysis. During pyrolysis, biomass, including crop and forestry residues, manure, municipal and industrial wastes, is broken down at temperatures exceeding 400°C, with minute to no oxygen present. Given its high carbon content, approximately 60% to 90%, biochar addition in soil has been recommended as an effective, long-term method for capturing atmospheric CO2 within terrestrial ecosystems. In addition to its role in reducing greenhouse gas productions and carbon sequestration, biochar offers various advantages for soil quality enhancement. Incorporating biochar into soils can boost crop yields by improvising the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the soil, such as increasing water retention, adjusting soil pH, and enhancing microbial activity (Zoghlami and Paës, 2019). The production of biochar offer several benefits such as carbon sequestration in which produced biochar captures carbon that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere (Rahimi, Anand and Gautam, 2022). This helps mitigate climate change by locking carbon in a steady form for a lengthy period, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. When added to soil, biochar can enhance its physical, chemical, and biological properties. It improves water preservation, nutrient accessibility, and microbial activity, leading to increased soil fertility and crop yields (Saikia et al., 2015)perennial grass species Arundo donax L. was pyrolysed in a fixed-bed reactor and characterization was performed for the liquid and the solid products. The harmful effect of the greenhouse gases on the environment has impacted globally. We strongly need much safer and more sustainable energy sources. In addition, the main reason behind international relations instability is often linked with the fossil fuel-dependent economies, coupled with the finite nature of such resources, which has underscored the requirement of diversifying the energy mix. Biochar an alternatives to fossil fuels emerging as carbon-rich material produced by heating biomass in anaerobic conditions this product is known as pyrolysis [2]. This substance has the potential that be derived from a variety of biomass waste streams, including animal excreta, food scraps, forestry residues municipal solid waste, and agriculture by-products. Transforming organic waste into stable, carbon-rich products, biochar offers a dual benefit that addresses waste management challenges while contributing to carbon storage. Biochar is a versatile material that has exceptional properties that make it a promising alternative for addressing various environmental and energy challenges [3]. It has unique characteristics that include high porosity, creating a network of interconnected pores that enhance its surface area and reactivity, functional groups that enables biochar to react with a wide variety of substances. The substantial surface area provides ample sites for adsorption a process where pollutants bind to the biochar surface. The material high cation exchange capacity allows it to retain essential nutrients by preventing their leaching and helping in enhancing soil fertility [4]. However, biochar has remarkable stability providing resistant degradation and persisting in the environment for extended periods, making it an effective carbon sequestration tool. The economic benefits of biochar are equally persuasive, as it can be produced from low cost readily available biomass waste thereby reducing waste disposal costs. Furthermore, the process of creating biochar is really simple and effective for the environment and contributes to the overall appeal. There are several studies have underscored biochar’s effectiveness in removing pollutants from water spills [5]. To produce biochar there are several thermochemical conversion techniques are been employed, including torrefaction, gasification, flash carbonization, pyrolysis, and hydrothermal carbonization. among this pyrolysis is the most prevalent method. This process involves biomass heating without oxygen that results in organic matter decomposition and the formation of biochar and bio-oil. Pyrolysis is done under a state of low oxygen, where the biomass is degraded the biomass type, residence time, and thermal efficiency at a given temperature, heating, and feedstock type impact the item formed in due process. Since the birth of mankind, people started inventing many concepts, which are mainly observations of facts and innovation of ideas for producing products that are useful to the society. The design thinking requires unconventional thinking to design processes for maximal operational efficiency of manufacturing the products, which give maximum satisfaction to customers with more value for money. Hence, the team that is involved in the design thinking projects may gain the required skills by knowing several inventions of the past. Hence, a review of inventions is presented in this chapter.
1.2 Tracing Inventions

The article on solar cell energy gives an account of the sun started producing energy. About 1.2 million years ago, humans invented fire, which has been further innovated for biofuels, candles, IC engines, aviation engines, etc. In the 7th century B.C., ants were killed by burning in the heat produced by concentrated sun rays using magnifying lens. Greeks and Romans utilised burning mirrors to light candles during religious ceremonies in the third century B.C. About 3.5 million years ago, stone, wood, antlers, and bones were used by humans to make first kind of tools. These were further improved to make tools for machines. About 4000 BCE back, iron was used to make decorative ornaments. About 3500 BCE, people invented the concept of wheel, which brought quantum revolution in transportation.

2.1 Introduction
As time passes, the customers are used to the practice of having short life for the products, which they buy and use. This is because of the globalization of business and growing global competition all over the world. The companies engaged in manufacturing and selling the products which are used at large volume by households and partly by industries, introduce new models to attract customers and to have more market share. This in turn has impacts on customer buying and retention decisions of those products. Though the companies introduce new models, they are expected to keep the prices of the products at affordable ranges so that there is always a larger customer segment to buy those products. By understanding the human needs which changes quickly, re-framing the issue in human-centric ways, generating a lot of ideas during brainstorming sessions, and taking a hands-on approach during prototyping and testing, design thinking is incredibly helpful in handling complicated challenges that are ill-defined or unknown. Anyone can use the Design Thinking approach to tackle complex problems that arise in our society, such as those in our businesses, governments, and other spheres of influence, if they have an understanding of these five steps of the process.

4.1 Introduction
Companies that produce tangible items or offer services must drastically increase their productivity in order to maintain their operations in the face of intensifying global competition. A single quantum jump productivity enhancement technique or multiple concurrent incremental improvement productivity strategies can both be used to achieve this goal. If a business chooses the second choice, integrating various tactics for a significant increase in the total productivity would be quite difficult. One of the main methods for cost avoidance and prevention is value engineering/ value analysis. “Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE)” states that value Analysis is the systematic use of known procedures which determine the function of a product or service, define a monetary value for the function, and provide the essential function reliably at the lowest overall cost. If these are applied to a new product, it is called value engineering. By analysing the function of any product, material part, component, system, or service, it is possible to find extraneous expenditures connected with them and effectively remove them without compromising the product’s quality, functional dependability, or ability to provide services. 1.1 Nematodes in Agriculture
Nematodes offer several ecosystem services that affect the nitrogen cycle, decomposition capacity, and control of pests within soil systems. Firstly, the effects on the nitrogen cycle have generated a growing interest in the beneficial effects of nematodes to improve soil nitrogen content. Specifically, soil disruption, during activities such as tillage, increases nitrogen availability as well as the abundance of bacteria that compete for nitrogen (Ducker James, 2021). In response to more bacteria, bacterial feeding nematodes also increase in abundance, and this stabilizes nitrogen availability and increases nitrogen mineralization in soil once again, which is key for crop growth and soil fertility. Secondly, nematodes are involved in the decomposition of organic matter in the soil. Free-living nematodes are particularly essential as they recycle nutrients in the soil, which is matched by the indirect effect of bacteria and fungi-feeding nematodes that feed on the bacteria and fungi which decompose organic matter. Together, the feeding activity of these nematodes accelerates the decomposition process and makes minerals and nutrients accessible to growing plant roots.
Thirdly, nematodes are valuable biological agents of pest control. Predatory nematodes regulate populations of other organisms in soil as they feed on organisms such as protozoa, insects, and other nematode species. As a result, nematodes moderate the population of other nematodes, and studies have shown that nematodes such as the Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae can kill soil-based insect pests within 48 hours. Finally, nematodes have become key biological indicators of soil health. The diversity and richness of nematodes communities are particularly insightful as they act as proxies to reveal information on the levels of nutrients, fungal availability, and bacteria,

Nematodes and insects probably have influenced the shape of each other’s evolution from as early as the Devonian (409 million years ago). Over the course of their shared history, nematodes have established many different types of associations with insects.
2.1 Evolution and Types of Insect–Nematode Associations
The majority of nematodes associated with insects (Rhabditida, in particular) are not true parasites, but have established only phoretic relationships. These phoretic nematodes usually are referred to as insect “associates.” Nematodes in phoretic relationships with insects usually rely on their host to transport them to food resources or improve their chances of finding a mate (or both) (Adams and Nguyen, 2008). Bacterial feeding soil nematodes often are found associated with insect cadavers and incorrectly inferred to be contributing factors to insect pathology. However, it has been proposed that nematode parasitism in some groups may have been initiated by necrogenous nematodes. Early stages in the evolution of insect parasitism may have involved necrogeny (feeding and reproducing on the bacteria of decaying insect cadavers). The association with decaying environments or insect cadavers may have become successively more intimate, as the nematodes began to utilize other saprophagous insects for transportation to new sources of food. Eventually, the nematodes could have changed from being passengers to parasites, invading and feeding on the tissues of their hosts.
i. Facultative Parasitism: Nematodes that are facultative parasites can infect a healthy insect and receive nourishment at the expense of its host, yet retain the ability to complete its life cycle independent of its

Entomopathogenic / Entomophilic / Insecticidal/ Entomogenous nematodes can be found in the orders Aphelenchida, Ascaridida, Mermithida, Oxyurida, Rhabditida, Spirurida and Tylenchida. Phylogenetic relationships reveal that nematodes have established trophic associations with insects numerous times (Adams and Nguyen, 2008). Nematodes may have a proclivity (exaptation) for negotiating the natural defenses of insects and their associations with insects are tremendously fruitful (ecologically and evolutionarily).
3.1 Evolution of Parasitism in Insect-transmitted Plant Nematodes
Nematode-insect associations have evolved many times in the phylum Nematoda, but these lineages involve plant parasitism only in the Secernentean orders Aphelenchida and Tylenchida. In the Aphelenchida (Aphelenchoidoidea), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus (Pine wood nematode), B. cocophilus (Red ring or Coconut palm nematode) (Parasitaphelenchidae), and the many potential host-specific species of Schistonchus (fig nematodes) (Aphelenchoididae) nematode-insect interactions probably evolved independently from dauerforming, mycophagous ancestors that were phoretically transmitted to breeding sites of their insect hosts in plants (Giblin-Davis et al., 2003). Mycophagy probably gave rise to facultative or obligate plant-parasitism because of opportunities due to insect host switches or peculiarities in host behavior. In the Tylenchida, there is one significant radiation of insect-associated plant parasites involving Fergusobia nematodes (Fergusobiinae: Neotylenchidae) and Fergusonina (Fergusoninidae) flies as mutualists that gall myrtaceous plant buds or leaves. These dicyclic nematodes have different phases that are parasitic in either the insect or the plant hosts. The evolutionary origin of this association is unclear.

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are obligate parasites that infect and kill insects. Their short life cycles, simple rearing requirements, and straightforward molecular manipulations render them ideal to study host– parasite interactions. Additionally, their efficacy in reducing herbivore damage in the field contributed to their use as biological control agents in agriculture (Xi Zhang et al., 2021). EPNs comprise three genera, Heterorhabditis, Steinernema, and Oscheius. Infective juveniles (IJs) are third-stage free-living nematode larvae (iL3) that locate, select, and infect a host by entering through a natural orifice or by penetrating through the cuticle. Upon infection, IJs release venom proteins and regurgitate an endosymbiotic entomopathogenic bacterium, leading to a fatal toxemia and septicemia of the host. Juveniles then undergo a transition from free-living to parasitic lifestyle and resume growth and development by feeding on the infected flesh. Adult nematodes reproduce inside the host generating several new generations of nematodes. Resource depletion and elevated nematode densities induce the production of ascaroside C11 ethanolamine, an ascaroside triggering the production of next generation IJs, often through Endotokia matricida. The newly hatched IJs emerge from the resource-depleted host and search to infect new hosts.
Juvenile host-seeking strategies are typically classified along a gradient ranging from ambushing to cruising (Xi Zhang et al., 2021). Ambusher nematodes are stationary and infect mobile hosts. Attachment to a mobile host can be achieved through nictation, which corresponds to the nematode standing on its tail, curling, and propelling itself in the air. Cruiser nematodes disperse in the soil and locate sedentary hosts. Nematodes with intermediate strategies can ambush or disperse depending on the soil matrix and host

5.1 Mass Multiplication Techniques
Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are currently produced by different methods either in vivo or in vitro (solid and liquid culture) (Friedman, 1990). Each approach has its advantages and disadvantages relative to production cost, technical know-how required, economy of scale, and product quality, and each approach has the potential to be improved. Following production, a variety of formulation and application alternatives are also available (Shapiro- Ilan et al., 2012). Mass multiplication of EPNs can be achieved through in vivo (using insect hosts) and in vitro (using artificial media) methods, with the latter being more efficient for large-scale production.
1. In Vivo Multiplication
Method: Involves rearing insect hosts (like Galleria mellonella or Corcyra cephalonica) and infecting them with EPNs, allowing the nematodes to multiply within the host’s cadaver.
Process
• Rearing of insect hosts.
• Inoculation of host larvae with EPNs.
• Collection of dead, infected larvae.
• Extraction of infective juveniles (IJs) from the cadavers using methods like the White trap.
Advantages: Simpler and requires less capital outlay.
Disadvantages: Labor-intensive and may not be as efficient for large-scale production.

6.1 Nematodes as Biological Models
A model organism can be a non-human species (e.g., microbe, plant, or animal) with extensive genomic research data. These organisms are used to study and understand specific biological phenomena, with the expectation that discoveries made in these models will provide new insights into “big biological questions” (Semprucci et al., 2025). Model organisms are widely employed to explore potential causes and treatments for human diseases when direct experimentation on humans is unfeasible or ethically problematic. This approach is supported by the common descent of all living organisms, as well as the conservation of metabolic and developmental pathways and genetic material over the course of evolution. The use of model organisms is not confined to biomedical research. Significant advancements in developmental biology, eco-toxicology, fertilization processes, speciation, symbiosis, and sexual selection have been achieved using these models. Furthermore, emerging animal models—species with less neurological complexity than those protected by legislation—are increasingly recognized as a valid application of the Three Rs principle (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement). To support this approach, databases of invertebrate species currently used or with potential applications in biomedical research are continually being developed and updated.

Dividing continuously, embryo attains a stage of 16-32 cells. 16-celled stage is called early/uncompact morula and 32-celled stage is called compact morula. This stage is called morula due to its close resemblance to mulberry fruit. Structure is surrounded by zona pellucida.
After morula stage, fluid accumulation begins and blastomeres are gradually pushed to the periphery. As fluid accumulation progresses further, it leads to formation of large cavity in central part of embryo known as blastocoels and morula stage is now transformed into blastula/blastocyst stage. Blastomeres now arrange themselves as single celled outer layer called trophoblast and small group of cells at animal pole called inner cell mass (ICM). Trophoblasts give rise to fetal membranes and will help embryo in its attachment to uterine wall (implantation). ICM gives rise to all organs of body. Development of blastula is called blastulation.

Introduction
Gastrulation is a vital stage in the development of multicellular animals because it establishes the basic body plan, including the primary body axes (dorsal/ventral axis and the cranial/caudal axis) and prepares the embryo for organ formation. The process of cleavage leads to formation of blastula which is followed by gastrulation. The blastula consists of inner cell mass (Cell mass made up of darker blastomere and present at animal pole which is going to form embryo proper) and trophoblast (Cells made up of clear cells and arranged periphery near to Zona pellucid). The morphogenic changes occur during gastrulation is the formation of three germ layers. Gastrulation is the process in which single- layered blastula is converted into a trilaminar structure consisting of an outer ectodermal, a middle mesodermal and an inner endodermal layer and occupy their characteristic position in embryo. They will be give rise to different organs and extra embryonic membranes. The gastrulation is an important step of cell differentiation.
Gastrulation in Mammals
The process of gastrulation is variable among different domestic animals. It takes place in the uterus when the blastocyst is floating in the uterine fluid. After the degeneration of zona – pellucida, the cells located in the ventral margin of the inner cell mass separate out and extended ventrally along the trophoblast layer. Due to further proliferation, splitting (delaminate) and migration of cells from the inner cell mass, form a complete cellular lining on the inner site of trophoblast. This newly formed layer is called endoderm corresponds to the hypoblast of chick blastoderm. The remaining cells of the inner cell mass correspond to the epiblast of chick blastoderm. With formation of endoderm the blastocoel is divided into 2 cavities. The portion enclosed within endoderm is called primitive gut and area between endoderm and trophoblast layer is extra embryonic coelom. During this time trophoblast cells covering the inner cell mass degenerate and compact inner cell mass exposed and it is called as embryonic disc The embryonic disc occupies a position at the animal pole. Note: The development of the germ layers in mammals closely resembles that of birds with the formation of the primitive streak and primitive node.7

Introduction
At the end of gastrulation, the mesoderm of the developing embryo differentiates into three regions: paraxial, intermediate, and lateral mesoderm. These regions play crucial roles in the formation of various body structures. As development proceeds, clefts form in the lateral mesoderm, which later coalesce to form a cavity. This cavity splits the lateral mesoderm into two layers: the somatic (outer) layer and the splanchnic (inner) layer. The space between these layers on each side of the midline becomes known as the coelomic cavity. These left and right coelomic cavities extend cranially, meet in front of the developing neural and cardiogenic plates, and fuse to form a horseshoe-shaped coelomic cavity. The walls of the developing coelomic cavity have two layers. The outer layer consists of somatic mesoderm, which fuses with ectoderm to form the somatopleure. The inner layer consists of splanchnic mesoderm, which fuses with endoderm to form the splanchnopleure. The mesodermal cells lining the coelomic cavity differentiate into a simple squamous epithelium called mesothelium. As cranial, caudal, and lateral folding occurs during embryonic development, the convex region of the horseshoe-shaped coelom eventually takes a ventral position to the foregut and developing heart, forming the primordium of the pericardial cavity. The developing coelomic cavities, initially continuous with one another at the umbilicus, become separated into intra-embryonic and extra-embryonic regions. The intra-embryonic coelom gives rise to the pericardial, pleural, and peritoneal cavities, while the extraembryonic coelom is associated with the developing fetal membranes. As the embryo folds laterally, the coelomic cavity divides into two separate components. The pleural cavities, which surround the developing lungs, are initially part of the pleuropericardial cavity, alongside the developing heart. As mesodermal folds, known as pleuropericardial folds, grow medially, they enclose the common cardinal veins and the phrenic nerves. Cellular Signalling in Embryonic Development
Cellular signalling is a fundamental process in embryogenesis that ensures cells communicate with each other to perform specific tasks. The coordination of cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, and apoptosis (programmed cell death) is essential for the proper formation of tissues and organs.
Types of cell signalling
1. Short range signalling: It involves communication within a cell as well as between nearby cells. This includes:
a) Paracrine signalling: where a cell releases signals that affect neighbouring cells.

Introduction
The mammalian embryos are subdivided into two groups namely domestic animals where extraembryonic membranes form by folding process, and primates where blastocyst implants very soon after it enters the uterus and extra embryonic membranes forms after implantations. The major function of fetal membranes is to provide nutrients to developing fetus, protection, synthesis of enzymes and hormones and caring of fetal waste products. It is consisted of yolk sac, amnion, allantoic and trophoblast or chorion. The trophoblast is the single most important tissue of fetal membranes which has potential role in absorbing, transmitting and handling nutritive and waste products.
Yolk sac
It is a primitive structure. Develops early in the embryonic period from the entoderm which disappears after short period of time in ruminants. The uterine milk, secreted by the endometrial glands, is absorbed by the blastocyst along with yolk sac to provide nutrition to early embryo. Before forming other embryonic membranes yolk sac performs limited functions whose role is limited during mid and late gestation.
Amnion
It is an ectodermic vesicle that arises from an out folding of the chorion which is a double walled sac that completely surrounds the fetus except at the umbilical ring. The inner layer of this double-walled sac is the “true amnion” and the outer layer is the “false amnion” amnion chorion. Like yolk sac, the amnion chorion also lasts for shorter period.The amniotic fluid is clear, colorless and mucous in nature. Source of amniotic fluid: In early to mid-gestation, it is probably from the amniotic epithelium and from fetal urine as the fluid is quite watery.
