What are Green House Gases?
Heat-trapping gases in the earth’s atmosphere are referred to as greenhouse gases, or GHGs. Maintaining a temperature on Earth that is conducive to life depends on greenhouse gases. The average temperature on Earth would be around -20°C if the greenhouse effect didn’t exist. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, human activity has raised the atmospheric quantities
of greenhouse gases. The major GHG’s emitted into the earth’s atmosphere is given in Fig. 1.

Introduction
Aquaculture has significantly contributed to the increase in global fish production. However, the domestication of only a limited number of species for intensive aquaculture has been achieved in recent decades. A primary challenge in the domestication and sustainable culture of candidate species lies in the standardization of induced breeding techniques. Controlled reproduction in captivity remains suboptimal for many commercially important aquaculture species. In captivity, females of several species often fail to complete oocyte maturation (Corriero et al., 2021), while males exhibit inadequate milt production (Zohar et al., 1989; Peter et al., 1993). Hormonal manipulation and environmental stimulation are considered effective approaches to overcome these challenges and facilitate captive maturation for induced breeding.
Several hormone analogues, such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH), have been developed into commercial formulations like Ovaprim™, Ovatide™, and Wova-FH™, which target the brain-pituitarygonad (BPG) axis. However, these hormones have shown limited efficacy in the induced breeding of some commercially important species, including catfish. Recent studies suggest that neurohypophysial nonapeptide hormones also play a crucial role in modulating the GnRH– onadotropin (GTH)–steroid hormone pathway (Joy and Chaube, 2015). In mammals, nonapeptides include oxytocin (OT) and vasopressin (VP), which are homologous to isotocin (IT) and vasotocin (VT) in teleost fish. These nonapeptides, consisting of nine amino acids, are classified as basic (VT and VP) or neutral (OT and IT), depending on the amino acid at the eighth position. For example, VP has arginine, whereas OT has leucine at this position (Stoop, 2012).
In Heteropneustes fossilis, a novel neuropeptide gene, savetocin, has been identified, distinguished from IT by the substitution of valine for isoleucine at the eighth position. Nonapeptides also have homologues in other organisms, such as annetocin in worms and insects, inotocin in mollusks, and conopressin in leeches and Lymnaea stagnalis. Among vertebrates, lungfish, amphibians,

The history of pearl farming in India dates back to 1969 with the stablishment of the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), which initiated the cultivation of freshwater mussels for pearl production. This effort has gained momentum over the years, with states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan becoming key players in the industry. Farmers in these regions are increasingly adopting pearl farming as a viable and profitable alternative to
conventional agriculture. India is home to over 50 species of mussels found in various freshwater ecosystems.When a foreign body becomes lodged within the mantle (the skin) of pearl mussels or oysters, the mantle secretes a nacreous substance in response to the irritation. This process results in the formation of layer-by-layer nacre coating over the intruding object. Nacre consists of
80-90% calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and a protein called Conchiolin. Aquaculture has experienced intensification in recent years attributable to escalating stocking densities and excessive feed utilization, which have imposed stress on aquatic organisms and ultimately inhibited their growth and immune functionality. Chemotherapy remains a principal approach for the treatment and prevention of aquatic diseases. Nevertheless, a plethora of scholarly articles have indicated that chemical therapeutics exert adverse effects on both human health and ecological systems. The aquatic environment is adversely affected by antibiotics and their residuals, as a significant proportion of bacterial strains are developing resistance to these pharmaceuticals within the ecosystem. Consequently, there has been a concerted emphasis on the exploration of environmentallysustainable alternatives (Kumar et al., 2020). The public increasingly recommend natural compounds, while the utilization of synthetic chemicals, hormones, and antibiotics is increasingly becoming impractical owing to consumer apprehensions and stringent regulatory frameworks in numerous nations (Chakarborty et al., 2014).
Phytobiotics can be conceptualized as products originating from plants that are incorporated into animal feed to optimize performance in aquatic species. Predominantly, leaves, roots, tubers, or fruits of various herbs, spices, and other botanical sources may be utilized as phytobiotics (Arts and Hollman, 2005). These substances are typically employed to promote enhanced growth performance in the cultivation of shrimp and fish. Wastewater management has emerged as a critical environmental concern, posing severe threats to ecosystems, human health, and animal life due to  inadequate treatment and disposal systems. Various technologies have been employed to manage wastewater effectively, among which biological treatment techniques have gained widespread acceptance. These methods are  favoured for their affordability, operational simplicity, minimal reliance on chemicals, lower energy consumption, and eco-friendly characteristics (Smith and Brown, 2020). Among biological treatment processes, both aerobic and anaerobic methods are extensively utilized, with specific focus on Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), Expanded Granular Sludge Blanket (EGSB), and UASB-aerobic digester reactors. Comparative analyses of these approaches highlight their treatment efficiencies, advantages, drawbacks, and operational constraints. Additionally, the integration of aerobic and anaerobic treatment systems, particularly the UASB-aerobic digester combination, has shown promising results in optimizing wastewater treatment (Jones et al., 2021).
In many underdeveloped and developing regions, inadequate wastewater management has led to severe sanitation challenges, exacerbating health risks and facilitating the spread of waterborne diseases. The lack of proper wastewater treatment, combined with deficient healthcare infrastructure and inadequate housing, further aggravates the situation. Wastewater typically contains high concentrations of biodegradable pollutants such as Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), which, if discharged untreated, contribute significantly to environmental degradation (Lee and Wang, 2019). Both organic and inorganic contaminants originating from domestic, industrial, and agricultural sources play a major role in water pollution. In regions suffering from water scarcity, the reuse of treated wastewater is an essential strategy for water conservation and sustainability (WHO, 2022).

Introduction
Aquaculture is one of the food-producing industries with the fastest rate of growth in the world and is widely recognized for its substantial contributions to food security, revenue production, and poverty alleviation (Subhasinghe, 2003). The production of aquaculture has increased dramatically during the last 30 years, from less than 20 million tonnes in the early 1990s to 178.9 million tonnes in 2022. The aquaculture industry reported an average growth rate of 6.7% per year globally from 1990 to 2020 (FAO, 2022). In 2020-22, the global annual per capita fish consumption was 20.4 kg (FAO, 2022). In addition, 58.5 million people were engaged in this sector worldwide for their livelihood. Many new approaches and technologies have been developed to increase the production. However, aquaculture faces significant challenges, including environmental quality, quality seed availability, and disease management (Sitcha et al., 2020; Oglend, 2020). To address these issues, the aquaculture industry adopts new scientific and technological advancements. Among the recent advancements in science, nanotechnology is fast emerging as a novel tool for the next generation of aquaculture and fisheries development. Their inclusion in crop rotations not only boosts soil health but also supports food security, especially in developing countries where they are a key source of plant based protein and nutrients. The impact of climate change, including rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events, presents significant challenges to agriculture. In this context, grain legumes demonstrate considerable climate resilience. Their drought tolerance, heat resistance, and ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen make them well-suited to withstand climate stress. Legumes exhibit mechanisms such as deep root systems, efficient water use, and adaptability to diverse environmental conditions, contributing to their robustness in the face of climate variability. The freshwater system is further divided into lentic (e.g., lakes and ponds) and lotic (e.g., streams, rivers and springs), which serve as crucial sources for meeting daily human water needs (Mishra et al., 2015, 2016). Presently, water quality is influenced by both natural and human-induced factors, including climate conditions, irrigation practices, topography and geological features (Harman et al., 2012). Key physicochemical properties— such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, transparency, conductivity and water current—along with chemical parameters like nitrates, phosphates, heavy metals and organic matter, play a vital role in evaluating the effects ofpollution on water quality (Awasthi and Tiwari, 2004).
Upto pollution has become a major global challenge, driven by rapid industrialization, population growth and urban expansion (Bijekar et al.,2022). The release of untreated or insufficiently treated wastewater into natural water bodies raises serious environmental and public health concerns (Akpor and Muchie, 2011). Wastewater contains diverse pollutants, including heavy metals, organic compounds, pathogens, pharmaceuticals and microplastics, all of which pose significant threats to aquatic ecosystems and human well-being. Conventional treatment methods such as sedimentation, filtration and chemical treatments often fail to effectively remove emerging contaminants and achieve complete purification. Additionally, these traditional techniques can be costly, energy-intensive and may generate secondary pollutants requiring further treatment. In response, the demand for more efficient, sustainable and costeffective wastewater treatment solutions has fuelled research into advanced technologies like nanotechnology (Palit et al., 2023).

Abstract
Legumes are an excellent group of fertility restorer crops which can be grown either as sole crop or as a component crop in the cropping system. As they are tolerant to drought condition, they can be grown throughout the year. The yield of legume crop is largely depending on pest, diseases and weeds. Among these weeds plays a major role as the weed seed bank inside the soil influence the weed population in the cropping season. Hence it is important to manage the weed seed bank for better productivity of legumes. Though legumes are short duration and fast growing crops, the germination percentage of weed seed bank will determine the final yield of legumes. There are many strategies to which the weed seed bank can be controlled to tolerable level before which the weed seed bank present in the soil has to estimate. Annual weed seed bank can be minimized by killing the weeds before they set seeds, harvest weeds, crop rotation, cover crops, inter cropping and ensiling. Weed seed bank depletion can be done by tillage, tricking the weed seeds, conditioning weed seeds, soil solarisation and herbicide application. Thus integrating various technologies may help in effective controlling of weed seeds to tolerable level thereby enhancing the yield of leguminous crops.

Abstract
India shares one fourth of global annual grain legume production and is also largest consumer of it. Weeds are the most severe and widespread biological constraint on agricultural production systems and cause damage to cropped and non-cropped lands. They reduce crop yield and degrade the quality of the produce, besides raising the cost of production. The grain legumesare commonly grown under rainfed/dry land conditions and hence do not receive the best management practices that are required for maximization of crop productivity. Among various production inputs, weed management was found to be the most important one contributing about 31% in pigeon pea, 110% in urdbean and 60 % in mungbean towards total productivity. Effective weed management in grain legumes is essential for optimizing
crop yield and quality. This process involves a multi-faceted approach that integrates cultural, mechanical, and chemical methods to address the challenges posed by diverse weed species and varying environmental conditions. Traditional single-method approaches often fall short due to the complexity and variability of weed problems like development of resistance in weeds. Therefore, an integrated weed management approach becomes effective, combining timely interventions with adaptive strategies to manage weed competition throughout the growing season. Next-generation sequencing (NGS), a High Throughput Sequencing (HTS) methodology, sometimes referred to as deep sequencing or massively parallel sequencing, has completely changed genomic research and DNA sequencing. Compared to the traditional Sanger sequencing approach, which took more than ten years to finish the human genome project, this state-of-the-arttechnology allows scientists to sequence a full human genome in a single day (Behjati and Tarpey, 2013). Although Sanger sequencing has mostly been replaced by NGS in research areas, it is still not widely used in clinical areas (Slatko et al., 2018). High-throughput DNA sequencing techniques have developed quickly over the past 20 years, and new approaches are constantly being developed. A greater range of applications in the basic and applied sciences become available as these technologies advance (Reis-Filho, 2009).
Overfishing, pollution, and climate change are putting the world’s aquatic ecosystems, which are home to a wide variety of fish species under previously unheard-of strain (Prakash, 2021). For effective conservation and management, accurate and efficient monitoring of fish diversity is therefore essential (Meinam et al., 2023). Techniques like physical capture and morphological identification have been used historically, but they can be intrusive, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. A new age of fish diversity monitoring has been brought about by the development of NGS technologies, which provide a potent and noninvasive substitute (Kumar and Kocour, 2017). Rapid and thorough genetic material analysis is made possible by NGS, which offers previously unheardof insights into the distribution, composition, and population dynamics of species.

In addition, genome-edited fish, such as the CRISPR-Cas9 modified tiger puffer and red sea bream, have been approved in Japan, further showcasing the advancements in gene-editing technologies for improving aquaculture species. Food insecurity and malnutrition are on the rise globally, impacting millions, especially in rural regions where extreme poverty and food insecurity are deeply rooted. Vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and indigenous peoples, are disproportionately affected. Producing foo  that meets dietary needs and ensuring its availability in the future is essential for sustainable development and food sustainability. Addressing the growing global food security concerns and supporting the increasing population requires the continual expansion of plant-based proteins’ significance. Legumes are excellent sources of proteins, carbohydrates, and both soluble and insoluble dietary fibers. Legumes, with their high dietary fiber and low-fat content, help maintain body weight and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. They are also rich in essential minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron, and provide important vitamins like folate, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), and niacin (B3). Additionally, pulses contain various phytochemicals, including phenolics, flavonoids, phytates, lectins, tannins, saponins, oxalates, enzyme inhibitors, phytosterols, and antimicrobial peptides, which offer numerous potential health benefits. These phytochemicals exhibit anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial, and anti-ulcerative properties. Incorporating legumes into agricultural systems can foster more sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices. Defined as a substantial shift in weather patterns over a period ranging from a few decades to millions of years, climate change is a phenomenon of critical importance that commands our attention and action. Fisheries and aquaculture are becoming a global industry in terms of food production and employment- enerating sectors. Millions of people in India rely on fisheries for a living, either directly or indirectly, as subsistence fisheries, typically located at the bottom of the economic pyramid, with lower earnings, disorganised jobs, and greater socioeconomic risk (Dutta et al., 2007). The fisheries sector contributes 1.03 per cent of the Indian GDP. Climate change badly hampered the food production sector, the fisheries sector is also not untouched due to its dependency on local weather and climate parameters (Temperature, Precipitation, humidity etc.). In its third assessment report, which was released in 2001, the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) came to the conclusion that new or altered insect pest incidence and decreased crop yields in most tropical and sub-tropical regions would disproportionately affect the poorest nations (IPCC, 2001). To meet the food needs of a growing population in the face of climate change, climate-smart aquaculture (CSA) is an integrated approach to improving technological, policy, and investment conditions to promote sustainable agricultural development for food security (FAO, 2015).

Global aquaculture production is one of the fastestgrowing
sectors among global food systems. With the increasing demand for fish and seafood, there is increasing pressure to find sustainable solutions for feeding farmed fish (Tacon et al., 2011). Traditional fish feed, primarily derived from wild-caught fish (Fishmeal) and land-based crops, presents several environmental and economic challenges. These include overfishing, deforestation, and rising feed costs, which threaten the sustainability of the aquaculture industry. Hence, there is an urgent need for alternate feed ingredients (Olsen and Hasan, 2012).
The feed has largest environmental impact in the intensive culture system. Hence, more prominence has to be given to a selection of fish feed ingredients, which can contribute to reduce the environmental impact and target on growth of the animal. Intensification should go in hand with sustainability of the system and feed ingredients play a significant role in it. Grain legumes, including peas, beans, lentils, and chickpeas, are vital for global food security and soil health due to their protein content and nitrogen-fixing capabilities. However, their productivity is often threatened by pests, diseases, and weeds. Remote sensing allows for early detection of crop stress through analysis of specific wavelengths of light, enabling farmers to identify issues before visible symptoms appear. Tools like the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) provide insights into crop health, allowing for timely and targeted interventions. Hyperspectral and multispectral imaging further enhance disease detection by identifying physiological changes in crops that are not visible to the naked eye. In addition to disease monitoring, remote sensing aids in pest management by detecting changes in plant temperature profiles and utilizing drone surveillance for real-time data collection. Climate-smart mitigation options, with a prime emphasis on crop diversification, can help agriculture adapt to anomalous weather patterns and build resilience. Legumes offer a sustainable solution by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as they produce 5-7 times less gases per unit area compared to other crops. They aid in carbon sequestration, with soil carbon estimates of 7.21 g kg-1 of dry matter, and save fossil energy by decreasing nitrogen fertilizer use, reducing CO2 emissions by 277 kg ha-1 per year. Legumes play a key role in low-emission farming systems due to their ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen, reducing dependence on energy-intensive synthetic fertilizers. They improve soil health, enhance soil structure, and support carbon sequestration. Integrating legumes into crop rotations reduces the need for chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Additionally, legumes can be used in food, feed, and biofuels, lowering reliance on more carbon-intensive resources. The cultivation of grain legumes is expanding globally because of their diverse applications as food for humans, feed for livestock, and raw materials for industrial purposes. Legumes contribute significantly to sustainable agricultural practices due to their unique ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen through symbiosis with rhizobia bacteria in their root nodules. Incorporating legumes into cropping systems in place of traditional cereal-cereal rotations can significantly enhance agricultural sustainability due to their multiple benefits. Their role in nutrient cycling, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus, ensures that subsequent crops benefit from improved soil nutrient availability, making legumes an essential component of crop rotations and intercropping systems. Recognizing their significance, the United Nations designated 10 February as World Pulses Day, and declared the year, 2016 as International Year of Pulses emphasizing their role in promoting healthy diets, sustainable food production, and food security. India is the largest producer of pulses in the world accounting for 25% of the global pulse production. The production and productivity of pulses have slightly decreased due to great emphasis to rice and wheat crops. To boost pulse production, India has implemented initiatives like the National Food Security Mission and policies to support farmers, including Minimum Support Prices (MSP) and welfare schemes integrating pulses. These efforts aim to enhance pulse cultivation, ensure food security, and improve farmer incomes, addressing the demand-supply gap and declining per capita availability of pulses.

They are predominantly harvested from the back, neck, and tail, as the hairs located on the flank and belly are too short for effective use. Pig bristles are characterized by their coarse, stiff texture and tapered shape, often featuring split or flagged tips. These flagged tips improve their efficiency in paint and varnish applications due to their capacity to retain paint effectively.
Shaving brushes crafted from soft bristles surpass synthetic options owing to their enhanced water absorption and retention abilities. In our nation, bristles are primarily obtained from local and crossbreed pigs. Indian bristles are noted  for their coarseness and durability, although their longer flagged tips (whichcan constitute up to 30% of their total length) necessitate trimming prior to use, potentially diminishing their overall value.
Bristles are harvested from live pigs or boars once or twice annually, as well as from slaughtered or deceased animals. In certain bacon processing facilities, bristles are also collected by shaving the skins of slaughtered animals postscalding. Those obtained from live pigs generally exhibit superior lustre and resilience compared to those from deceased animals.

Grain legumes or pulses are a group of crops which belong to family Fabaceae, are primarily grown for their edible seeds. The common examples of grain legumes include: bean (Phaseolus spp.), lentil (Lens culinaris), chickpea (Cicer arietinum), pea (Pisum sativum), soybean (Glycine max), lupin (Lupinus spp.), broad bean (Vicia faba), igeon pea (Cajanus cajan), grass pea (Lathyrus sativus), black gram (Vigna mungo), green gram (Vigna radiata). Grain legumes can play a significant role to address future global food security, environmental sustainability, and nutritional needs. Pulses are the second most important food crop after cereals and an important source of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Pulses are popularly known as “Poor man’s meat” and “Rich man’s vegetable”. Pulses contain a high amount of protein (20-25%), which is almost double and triple of the protein content of wheat and rice, respectively and so can contribute significantly to the nutritional security of the country. Besides, they may serve the purpose of protein rich fodder and good quality green manure crop. Pulses can thrive well in low and marginal land with less external inputs. They act as erosion resisting crops because of its deep tap root
system, leafy growth, and close spacing. Pulses can also be grown as paira crop or inter-crop in different growing situations. Being a leguminous crop, it can fix atmospheric nitrogen with the help of its root nodules, resulting in low requirement of external fertilizer. Keeping the importance of pulses in mind, United Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) also declared 2016 as the ‘International Year of Pulses’.

Nevertheless, not all wool is created equal; there exists considerable variation in the quality found in the marketplace. This explains the significant fluctuations in price, as some wool is of superior quality and therefore commands a higher price. Various factors influence the quality of this fiber and, consequently, its value. Below is a list of some of these factors.
a) The diameter of the wool fiber is the most critical factor affecting its quality and price. Generally, merino wool is regarded as the highest quality due to its fine texture, which produces an exceptionally soft fiber. In simple terms, the finer the wool, the greater its worth.
b) Consistency in fiber diameter is another vital aspect; the more uniform the fiber, the higher its value.
c) The colour of wool also plays a significant role in determining its value. Wool that is white or off-white can accommodate a wider array of dyes used in fabric manufacturing.
d) Staple strength is a measure of the fiber’s capacity to endure the production process. A higher staple strength results in less waste during manufacturing. Wool is a valuable by-product of sheep, differentiated from hair by its enhanced elasticity, flexibility, and curliness. The quality of wool is affected by factors such as shrinking, strengthening, and felting conditions. It is divided into three primary types according to fibre length: combing wool, clothing wool, and carpet wool. Long fibres are combed and twisted to produce worsted yarn, whereas shorter fibres are carded and blended in various directions to create woollens. Carpet wool is characterized by an average fineness of 30 to 50 μm and a medullation percentage between 15% and 68%. The quality of wool is influenced by factors such as breeding conditions, climatic conditions, diet, and overall care. For example, excessive moisture can strip natural grease, while colder climates lead to tougher, heavier fibres. Consequently, wool can be classified in two distinct manners:
A. By the sheep from which it is sourced, and
B. By fleece

Wool, which is sourced from sheep, is a significant protein fibre categorized as an animal fibre. Its hygroscopic nature allows it to absorb moisture effectively. Composed mainly of keratin, a protein created by amino acids linked through peptide bonds, wool possesses unique characteristics due to its sulphur content, setting it apart from other animal fibres. Abstract
Understanding genetic diversity is essential for achieving genetic improvement and conservation of grain legumes. These crops serve as important pulses grown and consumed all over the world, especially in Africa, South East Asia and America. Legumes serve as a good source of carbohydrates, oil, fibre and proteins. Grain legumes are a major source of food and nutrition globally. However, it has not been possible to enhance gain legume production to the required level, primarily due to the narrow genetic base of most of the legume crops, coupled with changing climatic conditions. Most grain legumes are lacking in desired plant ideotypes and resistance sources for various biotic and abiotic stresses. The genetic diversity conserved in gene banks globally is a major resource for crop breeding programs, but it
is utilized only marginally. Therefore, in order to broaden the genetic base of grain legume crops and enhance the genetic gains made in improvement programs, conventional approaches and modern scientific tools should be integrated in a phased and carefully judged manner. The first phase should focus on the search for desired traits and the infusion of diversity into the cultivated gene pool through use of landraces and CWRs. The second phase should focus on the utilization of advanced selection tools, such as genomics, high-throughput precision phenotyping, and artificial intelligence, to exploit the hidden potential of the available genetic diversity; and the third phase should involve technologies such as mutational breeding, genome editing, and transgenic technologies to improve, modify any novel or alien traits that are not available in the entire crop gene pool. We presume that enrichment of the genetic diversity of cultivated grain legume gene pools, along with simultaneous improvements in their yield and plant type with the aid of advanced scientific tools, will enhance grain legume crop yields to the required level.

These scales are less tightly bound than those found in hair and are essential to the wool’s characteristics, such as its capacity to shrink, strengthen, and felt. The outer layer also affects the overall quality of the wool. While the sheep is alive, the outer scales are coated with wool sweat or grease (termed suint), secreted by specialized glands to preserve the fiber’s condition. This grease can be partially removed during washing, and its presence influences the wool’s condition, which pertains to the quantity of grease or oil present in the wool.
2. Inner layer: Known as the cortex, this layer is composed of long fibrils that are bonded together. In contrast to hair, which contains an air-filled medulla in its inner layer, wool does not possess this feature, contributing to its superior strength compared to hair.
Morphological Structure of Wool: Technically, wool comprises three layers: cuticle or epidermis, cortex and medulla.
1. Cuticle: The outermost layer of the wool fiber, referred to as the cuticle, is made up of flat, irregularly shaped scales that overlap with their edges directed toward the fiber tip. Belly wool: Belly wool is the wool that grows on the underside of sheep. Black wool: Black wool encompasses any wool that is black, brown, or gray in colour.
Blending: The process of combining various grades and/or lengths of wool in either their raw or semi-compressed state to produce a specific type of yarn is known as blending.
Blood grade: Blood grade initially indicated the percentage of Merino (fine wool) genetics present in a fleece.
Break: A break is a noticeable weak point along the locks in fleeces, resulting from a decrease in the diameter of the wool fibers. This condition is usually caused by illness, fever, or significant stress.
Bright wool: Bright wool is grease wool that is almost white and exhibits minimal yellow coloration due to excess yolk. Britch or breech wool: Britch or breech wool pertains to the wool harvested from the hindquarters of sheep, which is generally the coarsest section of  the fleece.
Buck fleeces: Buck fleeces are those obtained from mature rams. They are usually longer and coarser than ewe wool from the same breed and possess a distinct ram odour.
Burr: Burr denotes vegetable matter, such as twigs and straw, that can be found in wool.

Extremely long fibers are referred to as filaments. Fibers can be classified as natural, derived from plants, animals, or minerals, or artificial, produced through chemical processes. Natural fibers are those sourced directly from animal, vegetable, or mineral origins and can be utilized for creating nonwoven fabrics or spun into yarns for woven textiles. Typically, they are significantly longer than they are wide. Although nature offers a variety of fibrous materials, including cotton, wood, grains, and straw, only a select few are appropriate for textile applications. The appropriateness of a fiber is determined by its length, strength, flexibility, elasticity, abrasion resistance, absorbency, and surface characteristics. Most textile fibers are slender, flexible, robust, and elastic, allowing them to stretch and revert to their original form.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Industrial Revolution brought about significant advancements in machinery for processing natural fibers, resulting in increased fiber production. This era saw the introduction of regenerated cellulosic fibers such as rayon, which is produced by dissolving and purifying cellulose, followed by the emergence of synthetic fibers like nylon, which began to compete with the supremacy of natural fibers in the textile industry. Synthetic fibers, with their distinct advantages, started to supplant natural fibers across various sectors. In reaction to this shift, there was a surge in research aimed at enhancing natural fibers through improved strains, advanced production techniques, and modified properties of yarns and fabrics. Nevertheless, synthetic fibers, being more economical and less labourintensive, captured a larger share of the market.

Abstract
Global food production needs to double by 50% by the middle of the 21st century to ensure food and nutritional security for 9 billion people. Climate change, particularly atmospheric CO2 and temperature, has a complex impact on sustainable food security. Climate change is a significant constraint on legume production globally, which is a crucial food, feed, and fodder source. Legumes fix atmospheric nitrogen through bacteria in root nodules, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and boosting soil C-sequestration. Climate change positively impacts grain legumes by allowing them to allocate above-ground
photosynthates into below-ground parts (nodules), improving rhizospheres’ activities, plant biomass and nutrient use efficacy. However, temperature can also negatively affect grain legumes, leading to flower abortion and abnormal pod filling. However, climate models predict more extreme events in the future, affecting legume growth and development. Heat stress, elevated CO2 concentration, drought, and rainfall variability impact legume crop production, requiring adaptation options. Results show that legumes with C3 fixation pathways show higher photosynthesis, reduced photorespiration, biomass production, and water use efficiency under atmospheric CO2. However, temperature increases lead to faster development, shorter life cycles, and lower yields. Legumes can cope with atmospheric CO2 up to
1000 ppm by storing sucrose and starch. Protein synthesis and water stress also help legumes adapt to changing climates. To achieve targeted yields in changing climatic conditions, agronomic and genetic interventions must be integrated. Targeted breeding programs should select high-yielding, biotic stress-resistant, and abiotic stress-tolerant genotypes adapted to atmospheric CO2 and temperature conditions. Integrating grain legumes with desirable traits can provide resilience against climate change.

It is essential to effectively utilize animal farm residues, which include dung, droppings, and urine. Likewise, innovative approaches should be employed to make use of slaughterhouse waste, which consists of ruminal contents, blood, urine, and trimmings of meat and fat, in order to enhance their value. It is vital to discover comprehensive and inventive methods for utilizing all inedible animal parts. The proper management of slaughterhouse waste not only mitigates pollution but can also generate fuel for lighting and heating within the abattoir itself.
In rural and suburban areas of India, buffalo and cow dung are frequently dried into cakes and utilized as cooking fuel. Furthermore, dung compost contributes to the enhancement of soil humus and fertility, with approximately two-thirds of dung being used as fuel and one-third as fertilizer. Cow dung, which is abundant in organic matter and nitrogen, is also traditionally employed as a floor plaster. In certain regions, sheep owners receive compensation for allowing their flocks to graze on fields post-harvest, thereby improving soil fertility through their manure. Consequently, the organic waste produced by animal industries can be effectively harnessed in numerous ways.

The poultry industry generates by-products that encompass all materials derived from farms and processing facilities that are not intended for human consumption. These by-products can be classified as either edible or inedible. The edible by-products primarily consist of tissues and bones extracted from poultry carcasses. Conversely, inedible by-products comprise hatchery waste, which includes infertile eggs, deceased embryos, dead chicks, and eggshells, as well as feathers, blood, offal, fat, and manure. These by-products are typically divided into three categories:
1. By-products from the production phase, which consist of litter and manure sourced from the farm.
2. By-products from hatcheries which include materials originating from the hatchery, such as the shells of hatched eggs, dead embryos, infertile eggs, and deceased chicks.
3. By-products from the poultry processing plant, which encompass blood, feathers, offal (including feet, heads, and intestinal tracts), condemned birds etc.
1. By-products from the production phase: Poultry litter and manure from caged layers are extensively utilized as a protein supplement in the diets of both poultry and livestock. Following sterilization and dehydration, poultry manure can be integrated into feed, containing approximately 27-29% protein. It can be incorporated into the diets of broilers at levels of up to 20% and layers at 25%. In addition to their application in animal feed, poultry manure and litter are valuable as a ‘surface dressing’ for agricultural fields. They function not only as effective fertilizers but also improve soil texture. One ton of deep litter yields approximately 29.48 kg of nitrogen (equivalent to 136.08 to 147.42 kg of ammonium sulphate), 20.41 kg of phosphorus (equivalent to 113.40 to 136.08 kg of ordinary superphosphate), and 20.41 kg of potash (equivalent to 45.34 kg of potassium), along with 6.80 kg of magnesium, 6.80 kg of sodium, and 27.21 kg of calcium. Furthermore, poultry manure is rich in trace elements such as boron, copper, iron, sulphur, and zinc.

Understanding biotic stress is crucial for developing effective management strategies to protect plants and ensure food security, as it poses a significant threat to agricultural productivity and sustainability. To enhance the productivity of grain legumes, a critical food source for millions, mitigating biotic stress is essential. By adopting effective strategies to manage biotic stressors like diseases, pests, and nematodes, legume yields can be significantly increased.
