Sensitivity describes the proficiency at which an individual can identify, perceive, and understand cues and contexts in social interactions along with being socially respectful to others. This is an important social skill and having high levels of social sensitivity can make you more well-liked and successful in social and business relationships by feeling for others irrespective of gender, colour, cast, creed, economic and social status. Sensitivity training is about making people understand about themselves and others reasonably, which is done by developing in them social sensitivity and behavioural flexibility.Sensitivity training means placing yourself in the place of someone else and evaluating your own behaviour in that situation and time. Kurt Lewin laid the foundations for sensitivity training in a series of workshops he organised in 1946, using his field theory as the conceptual background. A core part of sensitivity training is sharing your own perceptions of everyone else in the group. This is supposed to provide information about your characteristics, concerns, emotional issues, and other things that you may have in common with the group members. Consequently, sensitivity training has been compared to group psychotherapy because it involves exploration and sharing of emotions, personality, and relationships. The primary objective of sensitivity training is to educate you and the other participants about more constructive behaviour that will be beneficial to you and everyone else. It helps an individual by providing insight into your behaviour and helps you develop corrective emotional and behavioural actions. A highly sensitive person (HSP) is a term used for those who are thought to have an increased or deeper central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional, or social stimuli. It is a personality trait that brings negativity in your personality. Finding ways to cope with life's stress can be particularly helpful if you tend to have a more sensitive personality. Much of your stress relief plan as a highly sensitive person can involve insulating yourself from too many stimuli. Put a barrier between you and sensory stimuli that feel overwhelming. And above all, know what triggers stress in you, and learn to avoid these things.
