The Undergraduate Programme in Forestry is structured as per the ICAR Sixth Deans’ Committee recommendations and NEP 2020, focusing on sustainable forest management, conservation, professional skills and technology-oriented learning. The programme integrates fundamental forestry knowledge with practical training and skill enhancement to prepare students for emerging regional, national and global requirements.
The four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry programme comprises 167 core credits plus 10 credits of MOOCs/online courses. The first two years emphasize Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), hands-on training and practical learning, with flexible choices from different skill modules.
The programme provides multiple entry and exit options, enabling students to receive a UG Certificate after the first year, UG Diploma after the second year, and B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry after four years, subject to prescribed coursework and internships.
Advanced learning includes intensive forestry courses, electives, Student READY, industry and forest-department internships, agroforestry, forest landscape restoration, forest products, biomass energy, arboriculture and forest business management, preparing students for professional employment, entrepreneurship and specialized careers in forestry.
